Limiting # Of Items Passed From One Select To Another
Mar 30, 2004
I'm trying to limit the number of items that can be passed to the 'list1' select box to ten items. The way I have it now, it pops up a warning if user tries to pass more than ten, but then passes the first ten of the selected items through to list1 anyway. I don't want it to pass any items if they try to pass more than ten...just show the popup, and make them try again. Code:
I have a problem with the following code. It generates a <FORM><SELECT><OPTION> list. There is no problem in the generating. The problem is in the execution as follows.
It works fine in Mac IE with and without the <FORM></FORM>.
In Mac Netscape 6 the onChange does not activate if there is no <FORM></FORM>. When I put it in a form as indicated below the value of train.options.value is undefined. What am I doing wrong?
As I said there is no problem in IE and mayby other browsers. It may be just a Mac Netscape 6 problem. Code:
We have a list of items that each has a different quantity available. So I am going to create a multiple select menu, where they can select several different items. So, how can I make it that when they leave the field it sends all the different ones to the ajax program to build all the appropriate quantity forms?
It is kind of difficult to explain what I am trying to do here, I will provide the form here to give a better idea.
<ul> <li>Select the type of your starting point of interest:<br/> <div id="start_menu"><form action="test_getrss.php" name="form1" method="post"> <span><input type="radio" value="Apartment" name="start"
[Code]....
I get values for start_time, end_time and semester, but not the last two values. I noticed that the first two forms here are dynamically generated from Ajax.
How can I pass the values of these two selected menus to the third form, to process.php so the values can be retrieved?
I want to move elements of one select listbox to another if a checkbox is checked, but all the items get moved except one. Here is my code <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript"> function add_to_list(){ if(document.getElementById("add").checked){ var list_length=document.getElementById('firstlist').options.length; for(i=0;i<list_length;i++){
Is there a way to count the number of items in a option list?
I have an alphabetical list and when you select a letter a select option list will populate with links. I would like to display to the user how many links are in the box.
This is something I spent way too much time on, trying to figure out why it didn't want to do what I wanted in IE7. I'm posting it here, so maybe it will save some others a bit of time. The problem: You have a <select> and you wish to deselect all options. It turns out that you need to change the code, depending on whether you're using a select that can take multiple options or not. Both versions work in FF and Safari for both variants, but for Internet Explorer you'll need to use them as specified below.
I have a multiple select list <select id=mylist name=mylist[]> <option id=1>first</option> <option id=2>second</option> <option id=3>third</option> <option id=4>fourth</option> <option id=5>fifth</option> </select>
Then I have a string of id's that I want to set to selected like so. var selectedIds = '1,3,5'; Is it possible to use jquery (preferably in a one liner) to set first, third and fifth to selected.?
[code]I want to be able to highlight all of the divs which contain both the classes 'two' and 'three'. So the first and the third divs above are highlighted but the second isn't because it doesn't contiain both classes.I can see how to select multiple classes like this:$('.two, .three').css('background',''yellow');This selects items with either'two' or 'three' classes. I want it only to select the items with both classes.
I have a multiselet box in which i identify the selected items. Once the user has finished selecting the items it causes the form to be submitted. For this example it just shows the selected indexes. To see the problem. Copy paste the code and save as html file. Then click on an item in the select box.
I am having problem with indentifying the selected items. When only one element is selected, the selected option index does not come up fine. I have no clue as to why this is the case. Code:
I need to be able to move items that come from a database (no problem with that) between three multiple select boxes. I also need to be able to move the items up and down within individual boxes....
I am a beginner with JavaScript. I have modified a script or two, but have no real JavaScript knowledge. Others with more knowledge than I have suggested that I check here.
I am building a website for my daughter. She wants to put up a list of items (groceries). The visitors would select the items they want to buy, and then print a shopping list. If there is an available online coupon, that may also be printed. There would be no need to remember the information after the visitor prints. I will be getting a JavaScript book(s) to teach myself something about the language, but for this project, I don't know where to start?
Do I need to have the items in a database, or just program a button in front of each item?
Do I need two different (or more) scripts? One to select items, one to display the items, and one to print (or use the browser print)?
I have a form of data I am working on where I may have *nearly* the same thing appear with a checkbox appear multiple times. For example: <input type="checkbox" name="blah" value="widget1||123456"> <input type="checkbox" name="blah" value="widget2||123456"> <input type="checkbox" name="blah" value="widget3||123456"> <input type="checkbox" name="blah" value="widget4||123456"> <input type="checkbox" name="blah" value="widget5||123456"> So, if checkbox #1 (widget1) is checked, it will either disable all other ones containing the sku 123456 OR replace the others in the form having sku 123456 with an image of a sort. Is there a way to select this without iterating through every checkbox in the form and looking at it's value?
I am trying to select all of the items in a multiselect listbox using a checkbox and and the change event. I have it working correctly but the problem is that it is extremely slow. There are about 420 items in the listbox loaded from a d.b. I noticed that the scroll bar also scrolls when the items are selected which i dont want.
I have a select list that is populated from a mysql DB with 3 names in it. I've created buttons to allow my users to move the names up or down inside the select list.
I'd like to put a save button at the bottom of the form that when clicked, runs a jquery function to read each value of the list and put them into a hidden tag or something that gets submitted to my next form.
I've been trying different combo's of items I've found on the internet, but nothing seems to work for my application.
I have considered updating the table everytime an item is moved, but I just dont have the jquery/javascript experience to pull it off.
I have a cgi script (using perl for database queries) in which I have two select boxes. I am populating the left select box with rows from a database, and then provide buttons for people to move items to the right select box.
So far so good, everything works, the move right, move left, and move right all and move left all buttons work, data is always sorted in both lists. My only problem is, when I click the submit button, the follow up program only displays data that was highlighted/selected in the right select box, not all of the data in the right select box.
I don't know how to tell the script, via javascript, to highlight everything in the right select box when the submit form button is clicked. I would think i could just call a function via -onClick for the submit button. I could use some help with the function to select all data in that list.
The code works fine. When I call the post, I get the categoryid as a result. Now, I should modify the code above, so I can do:post the ajax call sending the category id. this is done get subcategories for this category, and build the array * json_encode the array and echo * get results back in jQuery ajax call, decode and build the < select > field *The array should be built with each element having a sub-array with id and name, right?
I'm quite new to jQuery and have this working, though I'm fairly sure if this won't be an efficient way to do this. I have a form with each day of the week, and each day has a choice in the number of slots which then shows the correct number of slots for entry for that day.
The form: <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="DataTable"><tbody> <tr> <th> Day </th> <th> Slots .....
This is simplified just a little as there are more than the 1 input in an 'Entry Section' (eg .Entry3). The jQuery I have working here is: <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $("#frmSlots1").change(onSelectChange); }); function onSelectChange(){ .....
That's working fine, except I do want to have 7 days so that would be quite a lot of replicated jQuery code. I am thinking there will be a way to identify the select item with the others so jQuery will know which to adjust without having to spell every single item out. Is there an easy way to achieve this in the above?
I have a scenario where I show a drop-down-with-few-items in a JSP page, to the user. The length of few options in the drop down is greater than that of the drop down's, hence our requirement is to show the hovered (not selected) option as tooltip for user's convenience. I am not able to use title attribute for displaying tooltips in my browser. Now the code ... implements a tooltip for multiple select drop down menu. Can you modify the code for single select
I'm using a bit of Javascript to display content based on the dropdown selection:http://jsfiddle.net/mcgarriers/wjLXk/However, I would like it when the user selects "show two" that it shows the 2 div elements rather than specifically div2.And for "show three" it would show all 3 divs.
I have 2 select windows and have a function to move items from one select window to another. That was working fine until I had to change the names of each box in order to be able to post the select window as an array in PHP.
Is it possible to make it so that image that is displayed in the div is limited to certain dimensions.. say 100 by 100px. If an image that is displayed is above the limit, the excess is simply just out of view..
I dunno how this would be possible maybe by a use of some sort of mask, i normally code inflash im not sure if taht is possible with divs in html. Or maybe you can limit the size in the js file, if your allowed to.
I have a input filed of type "textbox" into which I am expecting to get currency values (ie. 199.99). Is there a way that I can restrict the user to only entering 2 values after the decimal point?
I can restrict the maxlength to 5, but that wouldn't stop the user from type in 1.987.
