Limiting Sizes In Div's

I intend on using this gallery viewer on my site.
Is it possible to make it so that image that is displayed in the div is limited to certain dimensions.. say 100 by 100px. If an image that is displayed is above the limit, the excess is simply just out of view..
I dunno how this would be possible maybe by a use of some sort of mask, i normally code inflash im not sure if taht is possible with divs in html. Or maybe you can limit the size in the js file, if your allowed to.

I have a link that when clicked it opens up a pop up window. However, this window has a dramatic size change in different browsers, from way to small, to extremely large...
how can I make this pop up window have a similar size in all browsers...currently I have it set at 500 x 200.

Anyone know a jquery plugin I can use for a horizontal scrolling image carousel with different size images. I Iike the plug in here as my client will be easily able to put new content using a simple text file. The problem is that the images will be the same height but different width so I get ugly spaces between narrow images. Is there a plug in that solves this or is there a way to manipulate the css for each image so as to adapt the width of the div ? I can add the height and width properties of the images themselves to the text file and that works up to a point , but the images display at their correct size but the carousel stops working.

If the user has not entered data in a textbox I display a message in the textbox in italics.After the user has entered a message their message is then stored in normal textstyle.I am noticing that the textbox changes length when the fontstyle changes. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

I have two separate questions. One being, how would I go about having the container resizing itself for different image sizes. So that surrounding elements can conform to it's size?
Also, is there a way to align the images in a slide shows so that it is always horizontally and vertically centered in the slideshow?

I am working on a plugin and have a test page setup here...to test bigSIZE click the 'BIG' button first, then mouse over the colored boxes. It works fine if all the boxes are the same size...the problem comes when you change the box sizes (I added the form to change the sizes for testing). For example if 3 boxes are 100x100 and one is 25x25 the 100 boxes will still work but the 25 will not.
Also, if the mouse leaves the box during the grow animation it will stay grown until you reenter and then trigger a mouseleave, so I need to fix that but I'm not quite sure how to do that either.

I have the following javascript code:

Which grabs all "li" tags with the ID "friends" , and then goes through and clicks all of those elements.How would I go about having it to where it only clicks up to 200 elements, and not all of them.

its possible to limit variables example I have a variable called myCurrency containing 3.454 well sort of pass it to a function that makes it become 3.45 though if the third number is higher than 5 it rounds it.
example: 3.457 = 3.46.

Is it possible to use javascript to limit a textarea to one hundred words (of 3 or more letters).
I am building a contest form for my company. It's one of those that you have to write why you want to do something in 100 words or less. I would like to have it check their writing while they're writing. It would be really cool to tell them how many words they've used.
I've seen javascripts that tell you how many letters in a given field. Something like that would be perfect. Does anyone have something like that or can you point me in the right direction?

I'm trying to limit the number of items that can be passed to the 'list1' select box to ten items. The way I have it now, it pops up a warning if user tries to pass more than ten, but then passes the first ten of the selected items through to list1 anyway. I don't want it to pass any items if they try to pass more than ten...just show the popup, and make them try again. Code:

How to create a function that would allow me to add to or subtract from a maxvalue, and thankfully I got help regarding that. However, something's got me stumped for the past few weeks that I still can't resolve...
This is the relevant code:
As it stands, it works as long as the total value is less than or equal to the limit (for advantages it's 15, for disadvantages it's 10). However, the moment it goes past the limit -- for instance, if you change Antisocial's value from 2 to 7, or if you add several additional checkboxes with any values -- the whole thing starts going crazy; specifically, maxvalue doesn't revert to 40 when the all the checkboxes are unchecked.
What I'd want to happen is that the user cannot select or apply advantages or disadvantages if the maximum advantage is greater than 15 or the maximum disadvantages is greater than 10.
I'm thinking that a button for adding disadvantage points to/subtracting advantage points from the maxvalue (that becomes disabled if the user goes past his limit on advantages/disadvantages) is useful at this point, but I'm really stumped on the implementation of the idea. An alternate idea of mine is that all other advantage/disadvantage checkboxes would become disabled if their value is greater than the remaining number of points, but I don't know how that is possible either.

Lets say I wanted store a long string of text into a local storage member on a browser using javascript.
window.localStorage.setItem("key",longStringText);
Now lets assume that the text itself contains characters outside of the normal ISO-8859-1 character set (like asian or russian characters). Would the individual char values be stored as one byte or two bytes?
"hello" -> 5 * 1 bytes = 5 (normal 8859 character sets)
"hello" -> 5 * 2 bytes = 10 (unicode or an extended character set size).
Is ISO-8859-1 still stored like ASCII once was as 8 bits? Or is it 16? If I was to use a 2 byte character set then would that cut the size of my allocated local storage space by half?

I am using javascript to switch between a series of divs, on clicking a navigation tab the divs display property is set to 'block' and all other divs have their display property set to 'none'. That works fine, the problem I have is when I redirect to another page (e.g. a PHP script) on return to the index the divs have reset and only the default div is shown, rather than the div that was showing when the user left the page. The solution, as I see it, is two stages: Write a function to display the relevant div based on the variable passed to it, then work out how to pass this variable around various pages (post/get). I am very inexperienced with javascript and it drives me mad that the script literally does nothing rather than throwing up an error (as in PHP) but this is what I have so far in terms of a function:

I'm looking for some javascript to work with wordpress (jQuery preferrably) that will show/hide multiple divs on one click.
I had one working but it was kinda janky because it was causing me to have two divs with the same ID on one page. No good.
Since I updated to wp2.8.3 prior to launch, it's not working. So I've decided to just try and do it right.

So, what I want to happen: On page load, the first tab: "general" and it's corresponding div beneath should be showing. And the first image should be showing. The other content divs and images should be hidden. I've given the text content divs a dashed border to show their borders. When a visitor clicks "dine at home" the general div and image hide, the second content div shows, as does the second image (it's currently the identical image, but the client may change later.) Etc.
I'll be using this function on a few other pages as well.
how to adjust this javascript to work on two different IDs at once?

I have a pretty basic set of things I want to do: Capture key press, compare against an allowed list, block keys that are not in that list, replace a space by a dash if entered.
