JQuery :: Slideshow Works Properly On IE But Not On Other Browser
Aug 17, 2011
In the past few days I've been trying to make this script work but why the following script works on IE but not on other browsers? It seems that IE waits for the <img> tags to load in the #slideshow and then starts the slideshow. The other browsers seem to load the slideshow while the XML parser is trying to load img tags. It only shows the first image and doesn't do anything else. What could cause this? I tried delay(), load(), ready().

I am using a jQuery Slideshow on a website homepage that I am helping to develop.
The homepage can be seen here: [URL].. This site is currently in production and I am trying to make some improvements at the moment. But I cannot understand why the slideshow isn't behaving correctly in Chrome. I'll tell you what it is supposed to do.
1) Page loads... slideshow begins to loop through 4 slides, each linking to an article on the website.2) When you click on a thumbnail on the right of the slideshow, it should bring that slide into focus - You can then click on the "Read More" link in the description at the bottom of the main photo to go to that article.
Now here is what it is actually doing. 1) Page loads - slideshow begins to loop through the 4 slides, this is working.2) Click on a thumbnail and it does focus on that slide but it only brings up the image... the section containing the information/description and the link to the article is missing.3) The slideshow then continues to loop through the slides as usual but each time it comes to the slide you previously brought into focus, the information at the bottom is missing.
I have checked in other browsers and this does not appear to be happening. I have also checked in earlier versions of Chrome and this did not happen - It is only happening with the latest version of Chrome.

I'm new to jquery and am experimenting with implementing it into my existing work. I've got the cycle plugin working pretty well, only the 'turnDown' transition I want to use only appears to work on images. All other transitions seem to work fine with both content and images. I've done loads of searches on this but can't find anything specifically related to this...
Below is a link to where I'm at with it - the first 2 transitions are images and work as expected, giving that 'squashed' look as they slide in and out. The next 2 are divs, with an image, heading, and a paragraph inside - they seem to just 'drop' out which has a completely different effect and not what I want [URL]. Is there something in the plugin code itself I can tweak to make this happen, or is this particular transition intended for just images?

I can click the next button and go forward until it reaches the last slide then it sticks. The Back button is also broken. This code works great with 1.3.1 and 1.2.6 but has the aforementioned bugs in 1.3.2....
$(document).ready(function() {
var fadeSpeed = 1000;
var currentSlide = 0;
var setSeconds = 1200;

Following this jQuery slideshow tutorial (Usecase 3 sample, about 2/3 down the page, this is the one without thumbnails): [url]
I constructed the slideshow:[url]
...which works perfectly in browser view locally (FF and IE). When uploaded to the server, however, I've got a static list of photos as you can see. Can someone shed some light on what the problem is? All relevant files are attached (I changed the images to simple colors to get the file size within the attachment limit).

I have a Nivo slider that works fine on this page.
Slideshow page.
But it fails when I load it into this page using jQuery's .load function
Project List
(Click on any of the project links to load the content)
Might it be a conflict between nivo slider and the jquery script that controls the open/close and loading the content? Here's that code: [URL]

Each instance of what I need edited also has an id on the page for referenceSo things like <p id='titleonebox' class='editable'>Title that can be edited</p> If I'm updating the DB I have it all figured out because I'm updating X where X is X.However on the index page itself I have 'headers' that I want editable for each div(The divs are populated via the DB and they edit fine)I've tried using save.php from jquery's jEditable documentation but it won't save the value when I refresh the page.

I have a simple problem that I can't solve. I am trying to code a "More Info" button/link to display some more technical details of an item, if required or wanted. I haven't tried incorporating any code in to my web site yet, first I am trying to test how it can be done in a seperate file.
What I have right now is a table with two cells. In one cell is static text, in the other is a hyperlink. The onClick event calls a JS function called "more_info()" in which a global varible is altered to contain the value 1.
Directly after these two cells is more JS (this is before the table ends). The JS here is checking to see whether the value of the global variable has been changed. If the value is 1, display information. There is no "else" clause because I don't want information displayed unless the variable is equal to 1, so it is not required.
I think I know what the problem might be. The browser is reading the code in question before I ever click the link and has already been executed before the variable is changed. I know JS is object oriented so it will not sit there waiting for me to click the button before reading the logical statements.

JQuery slideshow works in dream weaver but doesn't work at all in the browser. I can't even see the pictures of the controllers for the slideshow. I can see the first image in it and thats about it as you have to click on a button to get the second menu button. It is the one at the following website [URL]. I took out the background and changed the dimensions to 900 and other than that left it the same I don't understand the issue.

As stated my code works in Chrome but that's it. In IE and FF there are no errors but it only shows about 1/3 of the slide show and cuts the rest off. code...
I'm sure this is just a simple adjustment in width and height somewhere but I can't figure it out. Like I said, I have no errors I just can't get it to look like I want it. If I left anything out that is needed to troubleshoot this problem

In my quest towards becoming a guru in Web Development led me to start learning Scripting few weeks ago and i started with Javascript there is this video tutorial that i have on my drive which was putting me through, the going was good but i got stuck when some of the examples demonstrated in there did not perform the way it was performing on the Instructor's system, yeah he said it in the tutorials that some of the Jscript codes may not function well in some browsers especially the older browser,he uses Firefox and Internet Explorer on his system while i use IE and Google Chrome on mine.
Well the Tutorial is actually old(i think it's 2006), but cos i use IE9 and 5.0Chrome browsers which i believe are newer i expect the codes to run on them. There are some of his examples that did not work on Firefox browser but at least they work on the 4.5IE he was using but to my surprise, despite the 100per cent copy and paste that i was doing for some of his example few of them did not still work properly on my own IE browser;codes like that one that aids text scrolling, onunload method and other few ones.So "Web whizes" help me out on what i need to do to give my scripting experience a jolly ride into becoming a wizard in my Web Development.

I currently have a slideshow working on my client's site, but I can't get lightbox to work properly on it. [URL]...
Is there a way to fix the existing slideshow to work with lightbox? Or is there another way of doing this (keeping the same look that is currently in place)?

Let me start of by saying that I'm a designer, not a programmer so I'll apologize in advance for having very little knowledge of javascript.I found a free script for a auto-advancing slideshow that allows you to give each image in the slideshow a unique link. My problem is that when you click on one of the pictures the link opens in a new window instead of loading in the default browser window. I have tried to search google for an answer but my lack of javascript knowledge has left me scratching my chin.Here's the code in the head of my page:
<script language="JavaScript1.1">

I have a series of web pages that enable communication with a MySQL database. The pages all work fine and mostly everything is just the way I want it.As many people do, I put JavaScript on the client side pages to check input before sending to the server. The scripts check for blank fields, non-numbers where there should be numbers, etc. I know from personal experience that the scripts work in Safari, Firefox, SeaMonkey, and others. The scripts do NOT work in IE! No matter what is entered in the boxes, IE says they are not numbers!In order to solve this problem, I wrote a much smaller script and purposely did not use the isNaN() function. I thought this would fix the problem but it did not. To see what I've done and try it in IE (any version) or any other browser,ej2ffej2.nfshost.com/checkNumbers/test.htmlIf someone can examine my JavaScript and tell me why this happens the way it does, that would be terrific. If someone has another idea of how to fix this, I would love to hear it.

I'm using a fork of osC for an ecommerce system. It has an integrated smarty template. In the admin section, when adding products there's a section with three tabs: Main Image, Extra Images, and Media
This section acts like AJAX, but I'm not sure if it is. The media pulls actions from two .js files: prototype.js and media.js So, I'm guessing it's Prototype? The problem is adding media works fine in firefox, but only shows a "Please Wait..." when used in IE, Google Chrome, and Safari The odd thing is when it's loading in Firefox, it says "Initializing.." (Instead of Please Wait..) then loads the media functions allowing me to add sound to my products. If it's php I can do fine, but I don't know much about JS.
The reason that it works well in firefox, makes me suspect the code is right, but missing something.

I have some javascript that works in IE, but not in Firefox:Basically, I just want to replace the contents of a span element. Nothing fancy. But all my google searches come up blank, and I'm having a bit of a brain fart.Can anyone show me what is the proper cross-browser method to dynamically replace the text inside a span element?(I did it originally with replaceChild, but after about 500 calls to the js function, the page reloads, and that is not good.
