I have a series of web pages that enable communication with a MySQL database. The pages all work fine and mostly everything is just the way I want it.As many people do, I put JavaScript on the client side pages to check input before sending to the server. The scripts check for blank fields, non-numbers where there should be numbers, etc. I know from personal experience that the scripts work in Safari, Firefox, SeaMonkey, and others. The scripts do NOT work in IE! No matter what is entered in the boxes, IE says they are not numbers! In order to solve this problem, I wrote a much smaller script and purposely did not use the isNaN() function. I thought this would fix the problem but it did not. To see what I've done and try it in IE (any version) or any other browser,ej2ffej2.nfshost.com/checkNumbers/test.htmlIf someone can examine my JavaScript and tell me why this happens the way it does, that would be terrific. If someone has another idea of how to fix this, I would love to hear it.
In the past few days I've been trying to make this script work but why the following script works on IE but not on other browsers? It seems that IE waits for the <img> tags to load in the #slideshow and then starts the slideshow. The other browsers seem to load the slideshow while the XML parser is trying to load img tags. It only shows the first image and doesn't do anything else. What could cause this? I tried delay(), load(), ready().
I'm using a fork of osC for an ecommerce system. It has an integrated smarty template. In the admin section, when adding products there's a section with three tabs: Main Image, Extra Images, and Media
This section acts like AJAX, but I'm not sure if it is. The media pulls actions from two .js files: prototype.js and media.js So, I'm guessing it's Prototype? The problem is adding media works fine in firefox, but only shows a "Please Wait..." when used in IE, Google Chrome, and Safari The odd thing is when it's loading in Firefox, it says "Initializing.." (Instead of Please Wait..) then loads the media functions allowing me to add sound to my products. If it's php I can do fine, but I don't know much about JS.
The reason that it works well in firefox, makes me suspect the code is right, but missing something.
I am trying to get the JavaScript drop down menu from this site to work with the Internet Explorer browser:Simple JavaScript Drop Down Menu with timeout effect v2.0 Scripts and Tricks JavaScript DHTML TutorialsI can download the page to my computer, then open the page from the folder into which it wasdownloaded with the IE browser, and and it works fine. But however, if I: 1). rename the page or 2). copy and paste all of the Html code on the page and then paste it in to a new file and then try to open it in the IE browser I get this message:To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..
I am quite new to page layout and I have an issue with a Fireworks created menubar and tables. First, everything works in every browser except IE. The menu drop down goes behind the table data. Also, the tooltip display in IE only shows partial image. [URL]
I have some javascript that works in IE, but not in Firefox:Basically, I just want to replace the contents of a span element. Nothing fancy. But all my google searches come up blank, and I'm having a bit of a brain fart. Can anyone show me what is the proper cross-browser method to dynamically replace the text inside a span element?(I did it originally with replaceChild, but after about 500 calls to the js function, the page reloads, and that is not good.
I'm using a nice little script which replaces the usual file upload input with whatever image you want and then with JS makes sure that an invisible 'browse' button is underneath the mouse pointer whenever the mouse is moved over the image you want to use.
It works on every browser ie7 ie8 ie9 FF safari chrome but not on opera. On Opera the regular file input appears.
I've had a good hoke round the 'net and I know there's loads of scripts which do similar things. But either they are too complicated for me to figure out how to use them eg uploadify (bit of a newbie) or they do similar things but just not as well - like making the custom image the same size as the file input would be (there's issues with that too).
Here's the script I'm using - there's not much to it
How come it doesn't work in Opera grrrr... Is there anyway to fix it? This is perfect for what I want apart from not working in Opera.
I'm just restating my "site abandonment" post but with a clearer title as I realized it probably only made sense to me and me alone.
I have window that pops up with our commerce system. I have it set to pop up a window via JavaScript if the visitor quits early in the process (abandons the commerce system before completing all of the steps. The new popup is just a customer survey ("why are you leaving, is there something else we can help you with" etc. etc.).
Here's the problem, it works fine in IE, but in Firefox, anytime the page in the original commerce window is changed, refreshed or advanced to a new page, the survey popup window is called rather than just on window close.
Again, here's the two JavaScript routines that handle clicks on the graphical close button and on the window 'X' close button. Code:
The following code is working fine in firefox n not working in IE8... I get the Object Expected Error when the code hits the if(GBrowserIsCompatible())..... line in the javascript code. Clear cache and browser history does not work. Does anyone have a resolution for this?
Is there a way in Javascript, or perhaps in HTML, to force a browser to re-render an image on an HTML page after a round-trip between the client and the server ?
In my particular case, the image is changing on the server although the URL for it remains the same, but the browser is still displaying the old image from its cache rather than the new image from its URL location.
I want to use jquery to detect what type of browser you are using and display a link to a .wmv file if you are on IE or display a link to a .mp4 file if you are any other type of browser.I have this script declaration in my <head> section.
On my site i use a lot of features that are unsupported by older browsers, and right now it looks pretty stupid when the features are only partially shown. So i was wondering if there's a way of making the browser look to different css files depending on which browser and version it is. For example, css3 gradient backgrounds are supported in firefox 3.6 or something, but not in 3.0. All the hacks out there is to 3.*, so it changes for the allready working 3.6 too if i hack it. I want to controll it so that i have a specific css file for the none-supporting version and lower and one for the supporting and above. I looked at a bad browser plugin (because it has some of the basic features im looking for)
is it possible to scroll / jump to say, 10px above a div? i tried adding padding, but it doesn't work.also, when I use <a href="#xxxx">, is it possible to prevent the browser from adding #xxxx to the url in the browser?
I need a script that will redirect to a specific page is the browser is safari version 4. if the browser is NOT safari 4 I want the browser to stay on the current page.
I have to open a new window when user closes the browser window. But the problem is that on browser close unload event calls and the same event is called with we refresh the page. So it is opening the popup window on both window close and window refresh.
$.browser is being deprecated however I still need to know what browser is hitting the page. In some cases I need to modify a layout or position an element by some pixels. The number of pixels is different for different browsers. How can I detect the browser using jQuery without using $.browser?
I have a page at the following url:[URL]Pick a continent, select a country ( orange if in Asia, green if in Africa) click on one of the bullets and some info pops up. Works fine in FF and Safari but in IE, it works (almost) once, but then goes dead i.e. the links seem to disappear. get this working in all browsers?
check out this page [URL] (you might see an ERROR like "Notice: Undefined index: SCRIPT_URI ... on line 23" THAT'S FINE - that page sets a cookie to allow you to see the header with login on homepage)
then go to the homepage: [URL] and try to click on "Log In" in top right corner a overlay with iFrame opens IE7 but not in IE8
what's the right way to handle something like this? approach? steps? techniques? tools?
I built a horizontal navigation dropdown menu and it works in IE6, but when we were pushed IE7 it stoped working. Is it my javascript or is it my CSS (do I need html hacks for IE7 )
HTML Code: [b]javascript:[/b] // JavaScript Document[code]......
I should probably know the tricks about javascript not working in IE etc. I'm sure this is something very basic. I just can't figure it out, and it's really not my strong suit.I'm testing it with IE8.IE is getting stuck on two of these ajax functions:
I have some functions in a script in which I'm manipulating the innerText and background colors of certain rows in a table. The lines below work OK in IE but when I try them in Mozilla, I get an error that says: "document.getElementById('TableX').rows is not a function".
I have a script that works perfectly in IE but not in FF. I am sure that the problem is easy to resolve, but I seem to be too dumb to figure it out......
