Display A Webpage From Another Domain In Webpage And Access Its Elements

Mar 5, 2011

I am trying to display a webpage from another domain and tried to access its elements and I am facing issues with this.

I tried using "iframes" and am facing cross domain issues.

All that I want to do is, set and get the attributes of the elements of the webpage from the other domain (eg: set text field value, get dropdown box values, click button etc)

Is there a way to get this job done?

I thought of browser addons however it will be a browser specific solution.

JQuery :: Slideshow Works Properly On IE But Not On Other Browser

Aug 17, 2011

In the past few days I've been trying to make this script work but why the following script works on IE but not on other browsers? It seems that IE waits for the <img> tags to load in the #slideshow and then starts the slideshow. The other browsers seem to load the slideshow while the XML parser is trying to load img tags. It only shows the first image and doesn't do anything else. What could cause this? I tried delay(), load(), ready().

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "[URL]">
<html xmlns="[URL]">

case "radio_hidden":
if (fld.value != "1")/* radio male or female button should be checked*/

Array Won't Display Properly - DESPERATE

Mar 25, 2011

this code starts by creating foodArray, 2 dimensional array. Body onload calls fillTable, which fills the table with the first 5 elements of foodArray. In the bottom right is next and last buttons to display different pages of elements in the array. It works fine for foodArray, and because theres 5 elements per page, the 3rd page shows results 11, 12, and 13 as it should. The problem happens when you conduct a search.

Enter "o" in the textbox labelled "food" and it searches foodArray in the appropriate column and returns 8 results. The first 5 results display fine. But when you click next, instead of showing the last 3 results, all 3 entries are undefined. I cannot for the life of me figure out what's wrong. Also, i seem to have to declare the foodArray and resultArray and initialize them with empty values in order for the script to work? Aren't JS arrays supposed to be dynamic?

100per Cent Copy And Paste That Was Doing For Some Of His Example Few Of Them Did Not Still Work Properly On Own IE Browser;codes?

Oct 4, 2011

In my quest towards becoming a guru in Web Development led me to start learning Scripting few weeks ago and i started with Javascript there is this video tutorial that i have on my drive which was putting me through, the going was good but i got stuck when some of the examples demonstrated in there did not perform the way it was performing on the Instructor's system, yeah he said it in the tutorials that some of the Jscript codes may not function well in some browsers especially the older browser,he uses Firefox and Internet Explorer on his system while i use IE and Google Chrome on mine.

Well the Tutorial is actually old(i think it's 2006), but cos i use IE9 and 5.0Chrome browsers which i believe are newer i expect the codes to run on them. There are some of his examples that did not work on Firefox browser but at least they work on the 4.5IE he was using but to my surprise, despite the 100per cent copy and paste that i was doing for some of his example few of them did not still work properly on my own IE browser;codes like that one that aids text scrolling, onunload method and other few ones.So "Web whizes" help me out on what i need to do to give my scripting experience a jolly ride into becoming a wizard in my Web Development.

Spinner (numeric Up/down Field) To Display Numbers Properly?

Nov 19, 2011

Question 1: I have a spinner function and I have one slight problem with it. If a user types in 00000009 or 00021 in the spinner for example, if the user clicks away from the spinner, it will still display 00000009 or 00021 in the spinner. What I want is that if something like this happens, then what I want is that when the user clicks away, I want the spinner to display it as 9 or 21 rather than 00000009 or 00021. I don't know how to do this though. Does anyone know how to overcome this:

Question 2: If I used backspace to remove a number from a spinner and that is left with a blank spinner, what needs to be done so that if I click away from the spinner, the last number in the spinner re-appears in the spinner?

Special Character Doesn't Display Properly In Dynamic Menu?

Aug 6, 2009

I have two drop down menus in a form. Based on what the user selects in menu 1, menu 2 is populated accordingly.

I do this by first stripping all option elements from the drop down menu that is to be populated:

myElement.options.length=0;

and then, depending on the index of the option chosen in menu 1, I add the values to menu 2 thus:

Code JavaScript:
if (index==1){
options[0]=new Option("Please select a member","0");
options[1]=new Option("Prof. A","1");

[Code]....

I have tried changing the charset to iso-8859-1 but to no avail.

Am I making a mistake in my java script of in my html?

it is possible to display the duration a webpage is accesssed. For example, if its a form webpage, then the time to be displayed will be = time the webpage was left (press submit button etc. or the time the viewer left the page) - time the webpage was first accessed or loaded.

If it is possible with javascript, what are the methods, attributes etc that need to be used.

Conditional Text Display On Webpage

Dec 7, 2009

The red part of the code below doesn't work correctly, but I hope it shows what I want.
Code:
<html><body>
<div id="container" style="float:left;">
my<br> dynamic<br> contents
</div>
<script type=text/javascript>
var container = document.getElementById('container');
var containerHeight = container.clientHeight;
if (containerHeight >= 100) {
dispaly("big sideBanner");
} else if (containerHeight > 50 && containerHeight < 100) {
display("middle sideBanner");
} else {
display("small sideBanner");
}
</script></body></html>

I like to display "big sideBanner" on the webpage if containerHeight is 100 or containerHeight is more than 100 and "middle sideBanner" if containerHeight is more than 50 and containerHeight is less than 100 and "small Banner" if containerHeight is less than 50. How can I make it work?

I am creating a site whereby advertisers can create adverts. One of the options is to view a preview of their advert. I currently open a new window to display this preview page. I would prefer to keep the user within one window at all times to avoid confusion of multiple windows and therefore was wondering if there is a way to display this preview page as an overlay similar to how lightbox displays images? I am currently using jquery lightbox to display some images and also jquery for other elements of the site such as tabs.
