JQuery :: $.ajax() And Reloading A Dynamic Table?
Jun 2, 2011how to use $.ajax for the first time and I have a question specific to how I need to implement ajax.
I have a table that is dynamically built in php from a database. The user can click on an "Edit" link that is in each line/row in the table. When they do, a UI dialog pops up with the information from the line the user clicked on. When the user clicks the Submit button in the dialog box, $.ajax will send the info to a server-side script that will process the edited data.
I haven't yet implemented the above yet, but I have a pretty good grip on how to do what I have described above.
how to refresh the table to reflect the changes the user made in the dialog. This is AJAX, so I shouldn't have to reload the whole page - I'd imagine at the most the whole table. How do I do this?

I have a JQuery script:

onClick event binded on <li> tag with live() works fine. But I need to hide some tags immediately after ajax call. The jquery script is included together with some HTML code in returned HTTPrespons content data. Is it possible to do this without setting css display:none property?
JQuery :: Using A Selector With .load() Doesn't Execute Script?
Sep 30, 2009I'm trying to load one page into another using the .load() method. This loaded page contains a script that I want to execute when it has finished loading. I've put together a simple example to demonstrate:

When the link is clicked, the content should load and the second paragraph should fade away. However it doesn't execute. It is not just a matter of the DOM not being available, a simple alert("") won't execute either. However, if I do away with the #toLoad selector in the .load() call, it works fine. I am not sure why this is, as the <script> block is clearly in the scope of the #toLoad div? If the script from content.html was in the .load() callback, it works fine. I have worked around the problem by having the callback use .getScript () to load "content.js" afterwards and have the JS logic in there. This is arguably a more elegant solution anyway, but I'm keen to know *why* the above doesn't work, is it a bug?
Load Link Without Reloading The Entire Webpage?
May 6, 2010i want to have 4-5 buttons on the left side for the different links, and on the right half i want to load that link without reloading the entire webpage. currently i have it so that everything is in tables, so table's left column contains the links (for example - Link1, Link2, Link3, Link4, Link5). now when i were to click any of those i want the page corresponding to that link to open up in the right column without reloading the entire page. i'm stuck on how to pass what i click on the left to load up on the right.

Execute A Function On Page Load Not After?
Jun 23, 2011I have been trying to work my way around this issue for some time now. I am trying to stop a marquee from scrolling as soon as the page start to load not after. I have been using this to pause the marquee with JavaScript but the command does not execute but after the page loads; after all the html loads.
This is the JavaScript:

With this code the marquee does stop but after the page loads completely so as the page loads the marquee start to scroll and then stops as soon as the page finishes loading but with the first image of the marquee have way out. I need to be able to load the marquee 100% stopped as the page loads so then I can use the buttons I placed to control the marquee.
My question is:
Is there ANY way to completely stop the marquee from scrolling as soon as the page loads??
how to scroll the marquee by click; meaning by every click of the mouse the marquee moves either left or right, would be even better. p.s: Noted that this code does NOT work in FF for some reason. The stop does not work and the buttons don't respond. why in FF they don't work but in GC and IE they do?

Oct 4, 2009I've created some jQuery which remove many tr rows from my table and inserts new via AJAX. This indicate that the page is scrolling because first the table increase after elements is removed and afterwards it grows when the new content is inserted. Is there a way to let jQuery update this table without doing so? Eg. by first refreshing the DOM after I finish my manipulation. Here is a bit of my code:

Aug 26, 2010I've been stepping back and trying to understand basic ajax calls again. I want to build up a simple gallery. I've got that done, but now I want to add fades, and eventually slides effects to the main image. I can't figure out how to coordindate the timing or a fadeOut on the current image with a fadein on the incoming image. Any thoughts? Right now it just fades and the of course gets hidden.Also not sure if I should fade a container around the image, or the image itself as I've done here,

Old Website Taking Priority Over New In Google

I've tried contacting the free hosting provider, trying to get him to delete the site or relink it, but no avail.

May 7, 2006I am using javascript to create a table-ish layout, I am using the following function to resize the 'cells' within a 'row'. It is layed out such that there is an 'insert cell' at each end to drop new 'cells' into as well as an 'insert cell' between each 'data cell'.
Each 'insert cell' is only 1.25% wide and the function should resize the 'data cells' evenly; it does change the width attribute when viewed with firefox's DOM inspector but doesn't actually render as a different width. Here is the function:

Parent.appendNode() Not Taking Affect Until End Of Function?
Nov 22, 2009I'm developing a site in HTML 5 and SVG, just for the heck of it. I have a portion of the site that uses the <embed> tag to load a new SVG when you change pages, which, in theory, would let me do effects between pages. However, no matter what I try, there is a white flash as the new SVG is loaded into the page. So, I figured I would make the embedded area invisible until it loaded, which was no big deal. But when I tried it, the flash still happened! So, I built a pause function to wait a bit longer. It sill flashes. Anyway, 7 hours later, I've determined that the newly embedded page isn't actually being downloaded and embedded until the end of the changePage() function is reached.

Hidden Input Taking No Value In Chrome And Safari (Windows)
May 15, 2009I have a web app which allows users to select multiple items from a select tag. I then call a JS function on submit which collects all the options they've selected and then adds them to the value attribute of a hidden input. The options selected are then used at a later time. This works fine on IE and Firefox, but both Chrome and Safari for not adding the selected values to the value attribute of the hidden input. Are there any JS issues for Chrome and Safari that could be responsible for this?
