I have been trying to work my way around this issue for some time now. I am trying to stop a marquee from scrolling as soon as the page start to load not after. I have been using this to pause the marquee with JavaScript but the command does not execute but after the page loads; after all the html loads.
With this code the marquee does stop but after the page loads completely so as the page loads the marquee start to scroll and then stops as soon as the page finishes loading but with the first image of the marquee have way out. I need to be able to load the marquee 100% stopped as the page loads so then I can use the buttons I placed to control the marquee.
My question is:
Is there ANY way to completely stop the marquee from scrolling as soon as the page loads??
how to scroll the marquee by click; meaning by every click of the mouse the marquee moves either left or right, would be even better. p.s: Noted that this code does NOT work in FF for some reason. The stop does not work and the buttons don't respond. why in FF they don't work but in GC and IE they do?
onClick event binded on <li> tag with live() works fine. But I need to hide some tags immediately after ajax call. The jquery script is included together with some HTML code in returned HTTPrespons content data. Is it possible to do this without setting css display:none property?
I have long html/CSS (no CMS or php, etc.) web pages. Some people run away when they see too much content on a page. So I hide the large lower section of the pages and have the user click anchor text to execute simple JS code to change the display from 'none' to 'block' or back to re-hide.
Code:
(BTW my research indicates that search engines do not know the difference between display='none' and normal content, or I would not be hiding content in the first place.)
Within this hidden content, I have anchor text to provide name handles
Code:
So users can click a link and go directly to that section. Within that link I include
Code:
So that works fine within a particular page. But when I want to link to an anchor on another page which is within this hidden content, the browser cannot display the anchor text because it is still hidden.
Is there a way to execute the JS code to change the DOM, changing the display to 'block' on the content of the new page?
I do not see how, because the new page isn't loaded yet, there is no DOM within the browser yet, so how can it be manipulated?
Of course if I was using php I could generate the code with the property set as desired. But for straight up html/CSS/JS pages is this possible?
I get the feeling I am missing something simple here, either a simple solution or the simple fact that this is just an inherent limitation of html.
I have a form within an iframe that I want to use to refresh the location of the parent. I am using the form to set session variables that are used within the parent. So in the iframe I have:
<form name="MyForm" method="POST" action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . '?' . SID; ?>"> And to submit this form I'm using this link:
<a href="javascript: submitform()">Search</a> Which refers to this script:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"> <!-- function loadParent() { parent.location.href = "/search_results.php?"; }
function submitform() { document.MyForm.submit(); loadParent(); } //--> </SCRIPT>
(I think!) my problem is this; it works fine if the MyForm action, i.e. ="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . '?' . SID; ?>", completes before loadParent() is executed but if there is a slight delay in the time it takes for the server to do this, loadParent() is executed too early and the input from MyForm is lost.
What I need is to tell the script to wait until the MyForm action has completed, i.e. the page has refreshed, before running loadParent(). I'm sure there are loads of different ways of doing this. Ideally I would like something that detects the page refresh within the iframe (caused by the MyForm action) and not something that relies on a timed delay loop.
I have a site structured with a main html page that loadother pages that have some javascript code. Somejs have to be executed immediatly and some other js I need. I have a code like following
<!-- ********************** THIS SCRIPT SHOULD BE EXECUTED ON FORM SUBMIT --> <script type="text/javascript"> myNewLine=" "; function inviaRichiesta(){var msg="";
I'm trying to load one page into another using the .load() method. This loaded page contains a script that I want to execute when it has finished loading. I've put together a simple example to demonstrate:
When the link is clicked, the content should load and the second paragraph should fade away. However it doesn't execute. It is not just a matter of the DOM not being available, a simple alert("") won't execute either. However, if I do away with the #toLoad selector in the .load() call, it works fine. I am not sure why this is, as the <script> block is clearly in the scope of the #toLoad div? If the script from content.html was in the .load() callback, it works fine. I have worked around the problem by having the callback use .getScript () to load "content.js" afterwards and have the JS logic in there. This is arguably a more elegant solution anyway, but I'm keen to know *why* the above doesn't work, is it a bug?
I don't get to use javascript as much as I would like, but I am having a problem with a page so I stripped out all the extras and got down to just the part I am having a problem with and I think this should fill the div with the id testingdiv when the page loads but it doesn't.
<script type="text/javascript"> function getClientList(listtype) { document.getElementById('testingdiv').innerHTML = listtype;[code]...
I have a JavaScript function defined in the head section of an aspx page.How can I fire this function from the asp.net page_load function when the page loads?
this forum I have managed to write a VB.NET Web Application with several Web Form. this has a JavaScript function (in a seperate .js file) that is called on the click of a button, code used is :-
When I use the load function on my first page (index.html): $('#content').load('page1.html #content'); I got two divs on my page with the same id (id="content"). ... <div id="content"> <div id="content">Content from page1.html</div> </div> ... How do I resolve this issue without a another div?
I'm using the load function to inject a page into my layout. It works fine, however after it loads the page the layout changes dramatically and eliminates pretty much all of the CSS in the HTML file.
The page im loading is a PHP page, could that be why? Is there something I have to insert into the PHP file to stop the display from changing upon loading?
The problem is that throughout my php project it calls different classes and definitions based on what modules are loaded.Is it possible to get it to load a function that is predefined rather than executing a page that will require me to once again declare all my variables and classes so I can perform just a simple db search.
I'm relatively new to jquery and I've noticed that a page that has jquery script and any jquery extensions will run fine the first time, but if the jquery loads another page fragment using the load function into the same page or hides a div element and reveals another div element or calls an ajax script to show a different page, the jquery script ceases to work
I have a nproblem with running commands from a loaded page;[code]Now i want to execute the alert() on page BB.html when doing the load on page AA.html.
Trying to call the same Ajax function twice on initial load of the page, but only the second one executed. I try to load mainpage, and inside mainpage I try to use ajax to load content1.asp to div1 and content2.asp to div2.
Test scenario (based on the Situation below): - Page loaded, 1st ajax function skipped, 2nd ajax function loaded - Remarked 1st ajax function, then 2nd ajax function loaded - Remarked 2nd ajax function, then 1st ajax function loaded - Moved the 2nd ajax function to above 1st ajax function, the 2nd ajax function is skipped.
Conclusion: - the 1st ajax function always skipped. But Why? How to ensure both ajax is called upon loading of the page?
I have a text file that contains a whole bunch of data points neatly formatted (it's basically a CSV file). I need to create a quick JS function that would load the CSV file (from a URL) and display it with in a page. No parsing is needed! I just need to suck down the file and insert/display it within two div tags.
I have a single webpage that contains information on all 50 U.S. states. There are 50 links at the top to jump down to the state you want, and at the bottom of the information for each state a Back to Top link.
I'm making the Back to Top link into something more complex, and it will require three or four lines of code.
So that I don't have to repeat the code 50 times, and create a burden when I need to edit it, I want to place it in a .js file and call it x. Then below the information for each state I'll simply have:
Does calling code from a .js file 50 times slow down the page load? Which method would load faster?
The function is called from a child popup window which closes the child when called. The function works well however when the child window is closed the cursor on the parent window continues as if it is trying and load something (although nothing is being loaded). Do I need some sort of end function to close the function off after it is executed?
I've been looking all over for an explanation of this function declaration but cant find it. what it means to have a function with no name, just declared as this. When does it execute? How does it get called?
