I am trying to develop a mouseover effect on an image sprite. Half of the image is a colour version and the bottom half is a grayscale version. I want to start with the grayscale version and fade into the colour version.I would normally use :hover on the css element but as the image is defined in the DOM and not a background image im slightly confused.[URL]
View 4 RepliesI am trying to do something with a sprite image, which is changing the height of it when an action button is clicked. The sprite image is 602x5485px. For clarity here's the link [url] and here's the image [url] and when the "Run sequence" button is clicked the height of the background image is supposed to change (each image is 602x399) so I need to add another 399px to move to the next one. The sequence will run till the last picture and then come back so that it gives a kind of movie animation (so in brief adding 399px till it reaches the last pic and then removing 399px till it gets to the first one).

Ok let's get to the script now (which won't be an external file but within the html page, I separated it temporarily for the sake of clarity). What the script should do, I think, is to get the background image which is in the css, and change the css background position adding - as said - 399px. When it gets to the end, remove 399px till it gets to the first image.
So in practice here are my last (believe me of many!) attempt:

I am not sure whether this is correct but I am not quite sure how to continue. The thing is, I want to change the height of the background image as said and the above should change at least one image but it doesnt work. If somebody has the patience to talk me through that (I am a beginner so I would like to attempt to build the code myself.
I'm using jQuery with a sprite--moving the background image 100px when the user mouses over to display the "over" state. Seems terribly simple, but for some reason I can't get it working. Note that it works fine when implemented with a traditional a:hover {background-position: 0 -100px} in CSS.

I am trying to write a script to get my sprite to move to the next row once it reaches the last frame on it's current row.
Here's my attempt so far; in the code below I want bird2 when it reaches frame 3 and spState(1) - this means first row - to switch to spState (2) second row.

this is from [URL] you will notice on this site that if you drag the slider to the left the bird sprites change direction, in fact they play the second row of frames.
The reason I want my bird sprite to go automatically to the next row is because I am using video turned into individual frames and a png strip, and I am limited by the max width of png (8192px). see [URL] scroll down to see the bird on the rooftop. Each frame in that bird sprite is 80px wide and there are 93 frames. So I would like to include multiple rows to allow me to increase the number of frames. Up to 15 rows will be needed and after the last row it should go back to the first row. Perhaps a switch statement would be better than what I currently have.

I have gotten my script to do exactly what I want it to do with one exception. I have some thumbnail images that people can mouse over and the actual image is 100px by 75px. That is what I use for my thumbnail and they reside in www.website.com/images/thumbs/image1.jpg. I have the large version of the image that resides in www.website.com/images/image1.jpg. Its actual size is 640px by 480. When I mouse over my thumbnail, I don't want the thumbnail to appear for the larger image, I want the large image to appear instead? Let me know if you need ellaboration.

What is actually happening is this: Upon mouseover, it does successfully fades out the image, but it doesn't show the text underneath it, only the background colour of the div. What I think might be happening is that the fadeout behaviour is simply decreasing image opacity, instead of removing it altogether. But even if this is what it's doing, it should still show the text in the background div.

1. change each image to different image on mouseover (each image has its own mouseover image version).
2. produce different paragraph of text below row of images on each mouseover.
I can achieve it with mouseover on text links or on an image, but not with the two events, viz mouseover image swap + mouseover text swap. Would also want to be able to style the text.

I used an image map because i have 5 bracelets in one picture, all with different styles. I created the mouseover images so that when your mouse is over one of them, that bracelet will highlight and show the name of the style. But the mouseovers are not working at all.

What trying to achieve is to have a div which when you mouseover a div and h4 within will change properties.This is working but when you mouseover the div and pass over either the border of the containing div or the h4 text the animate/fadeTo repeat again. Is someone able to tell what Im doing wrong? Also you may notice the function is effecting more than one container div at a time which is not what Im going for.
Is there a way to seperate them like this or somehow?

I have a map with hotspots, and when you hover over a hot spot, a hidden DIV appears. The only problem I'm having now is getting the DIV to remain open while I move my mouse from the hotspot to the DIV. As soon as I move my mouse away from the hotspot, the DIV disappears. I need to put links in the DIVs, and users will need to be able to move their mouse away from the hotspot to click on the link, but currently can't.
I experimented with setTimeout, but didn't get too far. I really need to get this working.

I would like to add a mouseover script to several different images e.g. Manufacturer logos which would cause a background image to change accordingly. There are eight different logos which would refer to eight background images respectively. I have found several scripts which cause the image which has the mouseover to change but not any which cause a different image to change. Is this practical using JavaScript?

The code is working fine but the tool tip window resizes automatically

I have an image of a circle that is going on a landing page. I need to code it so that onmouseover, the quarter of the circle that is moused over, will change to a short line of text which is a clickable link.My idea is to use photoshop to cut the circle into 4 quarters, put each quarter into a div and line them on the page so it looks whole, than use getElementById with some css to change the index position, so onmouseover the link comes to the top.Before I get started, I wanted to run this by someone to make sure I am on the right track, or if there is a better way to do this. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an imagemap that I am using to collect user ratings (the image is of a gradient, and the more to the right they click, the higher the rating). I want to essentially keep the same functionality with a small addition:
I want a slider image to display under the user's mouse when the user is hovering over the imagemap, and I want it to move horizontall whenever the user's mouse moves over the imagemap. This would make the imagemap look like a slider, except the user would still be able to instantly rate without needing to drag a slider (it would simply follow his/her mouse).
I'm not very familiar with JavaScript, though. If anyone could give me an idea how to write something like this or possibly write some sample code, I would be very grateful. I imagine that something like this is very simple (i.e. just taking the user's horizontal mouse coordinates and overlaying an image), but I really do need help writing it. I don't want to sound lazy, but the project I'm working on has more to do with server-side programming, so it wouldn't be a good idea for me to spend a few days learning all about JavaScript in order to accomplish this small bit of functionality.
