Text Swap - Change Each Image To Different Image On Mouseover
Jun 15, 2010
I'm failing to get a pure CSS way to achieve this, so trying JS. Several small images in a row, each different. Want mouseover to:
1. change each image to different image on mouseover (each image has its own mouseover image version).
2. produce different paragraph of text below row of images on each mouseover.
I can achieve it with mouseover on text links or on an image, but not with the two events, viz mouseover image swap + mouseover text swap. Would also want to be able to style the text.

i'm quite new to javascript and have an issue with an image swap script. I have three images that should change based on the value of a text field (total), however, there is only one image that is swapping. Please see the code below:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">
//This is where we decare our function to validate the HTML form
function validateform()

I've got a series of buttons as .gif images. Under these buttons there are small single-word descriptions, as CSS text. Is there a way to pass with the mouse over the image and - while doing this - make bold, change the color or highlight the text below the image? I know it would be simpler just to get rid of the CSS text and insert it into the gif image (a simple rollover effect), but I believe a text effect would be nicer..

I am new to JavaScript and I am having a difficult time finding what I thought would be easy to find.I have 4 text strings that when a user runs his/her mouseOver, I'd like to display a corresponding picture in a display area. I thought that would be easy enough. However, it gets a bit complicated for me since I am also using CSS to position the display area. For some reason all I can find out there are examples using HTML tables for display image positioning. I don't want to use tables. I'm not sure if this will make a difference but my style sheet is external. Also, the text does not link/go to another page.

I am trying to set up on a site I am working on so that the text color (preferably the CSS style) changes when I mouseover on an image elsewhere on the page. I know all about changing the current item or placing the image and text in the same div and controlling that, but I cannot place them in the same div.

For instance, if I had 10 or more images to change this would become quite cumbersome.
Code:
<SCRIPT language="JavaScript">
<!--
if (document.images)
{
pic2on= new Image(100,25);
pic2on.src="story2.gif";

Let's say I have three images - one large image and two small thumbnails like so.
<p>
<img src="1_large.jpg" width="200" height="200" />
</p>
<p>
<img src="1_small.jpg" width="100" height="100" style="padding:0 5px;" />
<img src="2_small.jpg" width="100" height="100" />
</p>
Now, what I'm trying to achieve is: When you hover over the 2_small.jpg the 1_large.jpg temporarily changes to '2_large.jpg' until you mouseout then the image reverts back to '1_large.jpg'. If you click on the '2_small.jpg' thumbnail the '1_large.jpg' permanently changes to the '2_large.jpg' until you either hover/click on the '1_small.jpg' thumbnail.

I have a list of links that go to pages that have a similar layout. Could I have a text swap, similar to what I've seen with image swaps (or an image switch) whereby instead of loading a seperate page, text and image is just replaced?
Other than not being accessable by non-javascript supported browsers, and unlikely to be indexed by search engines, would I face any other difficulties? For example, does an image/text swap have any browser dependancy issues? If I know that all my clients will have javascript switched on, I'm trying to figure out how much of my audience am I limiting by having this 'feature' (my oldest clients that visit are IE5.5 and Netscape 4 but these make up less than 2% of my entire visitors during the past ten months).

I tried out this script, but then I realized that it wasn't going to work for what I wanted it to do, but i figured I would leave it so you can have an idea of what I need. I am fairly new at javascript and followed a tutorial for this, but because I am new, I can only go so far at the moment..
So here is the site: http://96.9.157.245/~rrochlin/in-the-media/
What is happening now is when you click the little image on the left (in the top black area) changes and shows a new picture. Unfortunately thats CLOSE but not right. I need it to change the image on hover and actually open a link on click/

I know there are multiple threads on how to image swap using javascript. I am doing a portfolio with thumbnails at the bottom. When a thumbnail is clicked, it opens a large image at the top of page and then to the right of the large image, the description of the project appears. Both the large image and the text would fade in and stay until the next thumbnail is clicked. I have this for the script (someone pulled this from a site and gave to me) that works for clicking the thumbnail and the large image shows up:
$(document).ready(function(){
var Idx = 1;
var IntervalKey;
var ChangeImage = function(){
//If the image still animating, stop it and start the new one
$("#MainImage").ImageStop(true,true);
$("#MainImage").ImageSwitch({NewImage: $(".TnImage").eq(Idx).attr("src").replace("tn-","med-")});
//Mark which thumbnail is displaying

I am quite new to JavaScript code and have a challenge. I would like to add a mouseover script to several different images e.g. Manufacturer logos which would cause a background image to change accordingly. There are eight different logos which would refer to eight background images respectively. I have found several scripts which cause the image which has the mouseover to change but not any which cause a different image to change. Is this practical using JavaScript?

I have image thumbnails on the right of the page. When the user clicks on a thumbnail I want two events to happen.
1. I want the image in the center of the page named "swap" to swap to a larger version of the clicked thumbnail.
2. I want the person's bio to pop up in a div to the right of the bigger picture.
The page looks fine in Firefox 2.0, Ie7, but the image doesn't swap in ie6. The text switches, but the image doesn't pop up.

I have successfully managed to change the image on click however I can't seem to manage changing the text. Currently when a user clicks on the thumbnail both the image and text is swapped however when the user clicks on another anchored thumbnail (after clicking on the first) the image swaps correctly but the text does not change My Code

this is my first thread here and I am a beginner programmer Java/HTML/CSS only. I used google to add an interactive feature to my website that some people may be familiar with. I wanted to make an image that changes into another image when you mouse over it. Maybe there is a problem with how I integrated it into the rest of my webpage code. I am using angelfire to build my website and am a little disappointed that they don't have their own forum but this one looks really good. Following is my code that can be examined and possibly corrected.
<html>
<head>
<style type="text/css">
body {background-color:gold;}

{
width:70%;

I'm in the middle of teaching myself PHP and SQL so I'm only at the paste-and-tweak level with Javascript. Bear with my newbie-ness.I've seen a few solutions for creating a form dropdown menu that changes a nearby image based on what is selected. I want exactly that, but is it possible to have the images also appear on mouseover? I found a menu solution using CSS, but when I applied it to a form, it didn't work. Can anyone put me in the right direction on how to do that? I've started with this code, but need to tweak it to do this if possible:
<html>
<body>
<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">

Here is an example of what is done so far: [URL].
When you mouse over the b&w images you will see the image change to color.
When you mouse over the links on the left they will have a rollover and also change the image on the right to color.
What I would also like is mouseover the image to change the rollover state of the link on the left. Here is my code so far..
PHP Code:
<style type="text/css"><!--/* ================================= *//* ====== Subject Matter Rollovers ======
*/#menuButton1{height: 41px;width: 133px;
overflow: hidden;background:
url(images/content/buttons/subjectmatter.png) top left no-repeat;
display: block;text-decoration:none;line-height:2.5em;color:#000000;}
#menuButton1:hover{color:#FFFF00;
I thought the following might work (2nd image)
Code:
document.getElementById('link2').class='menu_hover';
But as you see no it does not.

I am trying to make a point and click javascript game. Basically what I want is to have one image displayed on screen at the start (room1.jpg). When you click on a door on that image, I have an onclick event to change the image to a new one that shows the door open (room1_a.jpg). What I want is that when you click the now open door, to display the next room in the game. The only solution I can think of is some sort of nested onclick event using several image maps, but I am fairly new to Javascript and I am not sure if that is possible. What it all comes down to is I want to display each incarnation of each room in the game in the same window without having to reload a new window for each room. I hope that makes sense, if not I can try and clarify. Below is the code I have so far. And as you can see all that does is display the open door when you click on the image. I have not done any of the image mapping yet.

I am trying to put together a purse shopping site - I would like to have the various views of the same purse in thumbnails under one image then when the customer clicks on the thumbnail the larger image will go into the viewing area. The general layout is like this page - [URL] So when someone clicks on the smallest image I would like it to replace the other image on the page and the larger image becomes the thumbnail. How is this accomplished?

I'm trying to use javascript to load an image on a webpage when another image is clicked on, just like an image gallery and just like this except I don't need any text: [URL] I copied the example above but when I click on the smaller image to load the larger one it works for a fraction of a second (I can see the image load in the right spot), but then the browser goes to the URL of the image instead (showing it on a blank page).

I used this script and it is working fine. I changed those two images and put my own. Image1 is of 600 width and 340 height and Image2 is of 560 width and 794 height.
The code is working fine but the tool tip window resizes automatically
and shows up the image. How can I have a fixed height and width? Which
line should I change so that the height and width of the tooltip window
is constant?
I tried changing var tipWidth = 160; but no effect tried playing with var startStr = '<table width="' + tipWidth + '"><tr> but again no effect.
I want the tooltip window to be constant and the picture size should be resized to fit in that tooltip window and aspect ratio for height and width should be resized automatically.

<html>
<head>
<script type="text/javascript">[code]......
I know there are problems with this. It looks wonky to me and I don't even know what I'm doing. It's a mashup of some code I found somewhere and my own bad guesses at how to fill in the gaps.
