JQuery :: Disable User Input To A Div?
May 2, 2009
I have a page with a few divs. One of the divs contains several anchors, text boxes, and list boxes. Under certain error conditions, I need to disable all the anchors, text boxes, and list boxes inside that div (but other divs on that page should not be disabled).

i have a form being filled. i don't want the user to be able to submit twice. how can i either prevent the user from going back or disable the submit button?
i am currently disabling the submit button but when the user clicks back(from the next page) it asks whether it should resend data. when the data is resent it loads the original version of the page(without submit disabled).

Im trying to prevent the user from clicking any other links on my page when
the user have selected/clicked a href once.
Sometimes it takes a while before the next page loads so some user will try
clicking other links or the same link.
I can prevent this when i use buttons by calling onclick and in a javascript
getElementsByTagName("input") and then check the type to be type of "button"
or "submit" which i then disable. It works.
This also works for href html tags by calling onclick and in a javascript
remove all href, BUT it also stops everything, even the request that is
about to happen.
If i use disable getElementsByTagName("a") on href like with buttons it does
not get unclickable just get a grey color but you can click on it.
Any workaround to this? This is a seriuos web app so I want the solution
where i disable ALL links on my page so it is not possible to click on any
after the first time.
All the links is NOT in a form only links using <a href="gosomeplace"> click
this link</a> .

I need to find a way of modifying this function so it only initiates a request if there is a period of say 2 seconds of inactivity. The user inputs some text, and if they stop typing for 2 seconds, it should then fire off the request. Can someone tell me how i can check for inactivity in the #inputString field? This must involve some kind of timer, but how should it be structured?the lookup function sends the current value of inputstring to another function which posts it to the server side file which then returns the results in a box.
$(function() {
$('#inputString').keyup(function(e) {

I coded the following and it does what I want but the cursor flickers annoyingly in the input field in IE.The code I have is (BTW -- am using this in a Java development environment and the '$' had to be changed to 'JQuery' for this to work...):This is supposed to fade in and fade out the groupTip div block.
jQuery("td.divisionTrigger input, td.groupTrigger input, td.hqTrigger input").focus(function(){
jQuery("#groupTip").fadeIn(80);
}).blur(function(){
jQuery("#groupTip").fadeOut(80);

I have a quantity field where I'm only allowing a max of 3 numbers (numbers only) in addition to the tab and backspace keys. I want to include the delete key, but it appears both the delete key and the "del" key on the numeric keypad share the same charcode (46). If I allow for delete, I can't figure out how to not allow for the "del" decimal.
Am I missing a charcode or what?

What I'm making is like a slow chat to communicate with faraway friends. I want to disable only an input with the id "name" after the user submits a form. I also want to store the input in a cookie for later. (So if the user logs in again the input is disabled with the "name" in it.)
I was stuck at the disabling. The problem is that every time the user clicks on submit, the page refreshes and the disable switched off. Isn't there a simple way to fix this?
So far, the Javascript is:
Code:
function disable(){
document.getElementById('name').disabled=true;
}
And then the submit button runs the script.

I have a form, in that form element I have a Date element. I use this script available at [URL] CalendarPopup to get the date from the user. Since, I want the date in a specific format (which the CalendarPopup script gives me) so I want the user to use the calendar popup rather than inputting the field by their hands . How is this possible? I disabled the form element but that won't let me use the calendar popup too
