I'm trying to get Jquery's Autocomplete to redirect a user based on their input - according to Jquery, it works like this: An autocomplete plugin can be used to search for a term and redirect to a page associated with a resulting item. The following is one way to achieve the redirect:

I'm not one for making my own scripts, so not quite sure about the best way to go about doing this. I've got a form with 2 different sets of radio buttons. Upon submitting, I'd like to redirect the user to a certain page, based on the selections they made among the radio buttons.

Does anyone have a library or patch to call a handler if a user leaves an autocomplete field without choosing one of the autocomplete options - i.e. they've entered free text. I'm working with an app that populates multiple fields from a single auto-complete value, and our latest requirement is to clear out a bunch of fields if the user's entered something manually - rejecting autocomplete suggestions. My initial attempts at hooking into onkeyfoo and onblur haven't lead anywhere productive, and I'm hoping someone else has managed to overcome the gnarly event and timing dependencies involved with onkeyfoo and blur being used for standard autocomplete behaviour.

I want a js that will have the user select from a drop down list a venue, then enter their username in one textbox, and password in another, so they're taken to /venue/username/password.html. Eg. If the soccer player frankie has password 1111, he'll be taken to /soccer/frankie/1111.html.My code at the moment is this:
<!-- Begin
site = "http://www.mysite.com.au/photos"; //
function combineMenus(frm, menu1, text1, text2) {

Right now I am using the javascript 'prompt' to enter a photoid and the
script that I am using uses document.write
to put the proper image on the page ....i.e. PHOTOID =".jpg"
What I want is a simple user input text area and when submit is clicked a
placeholder image beneath is exchanged for the proper
image based on the user's input.
example: User enters re4555 and the image re4555.jpg replaces the image
nosel.jpg
that I have created which basically says 'no image selected'.

Dear expert (Ok, i am new to this and should maybe not address this as a letter )I hope someone can help me ... this is what i want to achieve (I am using frontpage)I want to create a table (this i can do!) that require a user input (number of guests).It then has SEVERAL options:- Select an option from a drop down list, and a price is then loaded from somewhere to create a total for that option and display it in the table (And keep that total for adding later)- Check a box, and if checked it creates a further calculation, displaying and storing the number for further calculation.a number of the above options, and a grand total on the bottom.I found more or less a page on a site that does what i am looking for, but after looking at the code, i have even LESS of an idea how it works Can someone PLEASE help me, or point me in the right direction?(I am not looking for someone to just write the code for me, as this will not teach me anything, and i want to learn)

I have a form with a select field. Depending on what is selected in this field, I want to display or not display another select field. For example first field asks the user if they drive, if the user selects "NO" the form doesn't change. If they select "YES", another field appears with different makes to chose from. If they change back to "NO" the second field dissapears again.

This is probably easy, but I flipped through the first 100 posts and couldn't find a similar question.
I would like to set up a form with multiple radio boxes in a table. The first row containing two selections, second containing 2..... Once the 1st row/column is selected, the 1st row/2nd column automatically displays the information from the first selection.
I am not necessarily looking for exact code on how to do this, just reference points to go to, and preferably suggestions on the best(meaning quickest) language to do this with.

The user writes some text/figures to a number of text boxes (WMSURL , WMSSRS and so on). When the user pushes the "Compile request" button, it should concatenate all the values to one single strind (and it do). Now comes my problem; the concatenated string should appear in the larger textarea (id=textarea), using the onclick for the Compile request button.
Here's the code (partly):
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
// Function that concatenates the values in the fields to a WMS GetMap query

I based this off of someone elses code (with permission :)), but it shows everything <= user input. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make it only show only one of the next options.here is the JS code:
<script language="JavaScript">
function ShowMenu(num, menu, max)

I have a form that collects information about up to 5 items. I would
like the user to be able to select from a drop down menu how many items
for which they want to compare information, and then have the form
change the number of input fields accordingly.
In other words, if the user selects enter info for 3 items, then input
fields for only 3 items are shown, if they change it to 4 items, then a
fourth column shows up in the table with the appropriate input fields.

I'm just starting up in web design and I have an interesting challenge that I'm hoping can be solved w/java script. I have a site with an application form. When the form is to be submitted, the form data needs to be emailed to the correct person to handle that particular application. However, that can't be determined by anything specific in the form. It can only be determined by the link that they clicked on to get to the form. I really don't want to have 22 identical forms with just a different EmailTo addie, which is what the previous site developer did. Someone please tell me this can be done w/java script? If not w/java script

I'm using the jquery autocomplete plugin.Suppose the user starts typing, and the autocomplete presents a drop-down of possible values. If the user presses return, the first valuein the drop-down is selected.What I want instead is the user experience that Firefox's search boxprovides: As the user types, search suggestions are offered. If theuser presses return without selecting a suggestion, what the user hastyped so far is submitted. And of course, if the user does explicitlyselect a value from the drop-down, then the selected value is

I want to build an Ajax based autocomplete feature. Being a server side guy, I have little knowledge regarding layers and DHTML stuff. Having already implemented the AJAX part of the app, I am stuck with the layers thing.
The Google Suggest autocomplete is cool. Has anybody written code (free) or adapted Google Suggest kind of thing for their own use (like querying from database and showing results) ? Can you point me to some links or resources on the net.

Coded the following in a page :
var ArrayVariable = New Array();
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#inputbox").autocompleteArray(ArrayVariable, {
delay: 10,
[Code]....
Filling the input box does not present the list of matching array elements. I believe the array has the wrong structure because it is not recognized in jQuery.fn.autocomplete. options.data is set to null because data.constructor does not return an array. The array is filled by looping through all elements of a json stucture returned from an ajax call as in ArrayVariable[index] = jsonResponse [i]. It appears to be a normal array when looking at it with visual studio. I've also tried to create a string as in var ArrayVariable = ""; and ArrayVariable = "[ 'elementone', 'elementtwo', 'elementthree']"; but that was not successfull either.

I'm using Jrn's autocomplete jQuery plugin and I'm having trouble changing the value of my hidden input.
The first part works fine - it searches the array and I can select any of the results. However, I'm trying to grab the "id" key value from the array and use it as the value of my hidden input.
Here's my test page.
(I'm using a "GET" form, so submit the form and you'll see that the "account" value submits as empty)
Here's my array:
Code:
And the part that (I believe) should be putting the value of #account into my hidden input:
Code:
Basically, select "Account Five" from the auto-complete, and it should change the value of my hidden input to "0005".
Seems like it should be a relatively simple solution, but I'm still fairly new to JS and jQuery.

I have been using the jquery autocomplete plug-in for some time now and find it very useful. Lately I have come across the following problem in one of my JSP pages. The autocomplete suggestions are displayed and formatted properly. But when I select the one that I want, the result briefly appears in the input field and disappears. Simultaneously, the entered result automatically triggers another jquery search. The contents of my JSP page is given below. The same jquery code works perfectly well with other JSPs.
Code:
<%@ include file="../common/include.jsp" %>
<script>
var cols = []; // column mappings : 0=Last name, 1=First Name,
2=Title, 3 = Employee ID
$
.ready
function { .....

Here is what I'm envisioning: The user selects a state, then in the 'Cities' box, he starts typing the name of his city. However, it autocompletes the name for him based on the state he chose. So if he chose California and started typing in "Los Angeles", it would autocomplete "Los Angeles" for him. Does that make sense? Is there a script out there that can do this?

I have a Patient intake form which takes Patient information like FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME, DATE OF BIRTH, ADDRESS, CITY, and POSTAL CODE. When a user enters FIRSTNAME, LASTNAME and DATE OF BIRTH it should fill the rest of the fields (ADDRESS, CITY, POSTAL CODE) if I have a record in my database.
I am using JAVA with MYSQL and I pull records when a user leaves DATE OF BIRTH textbox.I dont know weather I should store everything in a dropdown or I should have a separate form for the matched records from where the user can click the record and fill the rest of the fields.
