I've been trying to figure out how to echo back error messages from a PHP edit page, for example. Say if I am editing a grid and sending that info with json to a php page to update a database, if there is a validation or other problem, how do I echo that back on the page with the jquery? Do I put that in a div container too for best practice?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've a function for my search form. Basically when you click on the form box where it says "Enter your search here" this value disapears when you click in the box. When you click out the box it re adds the value. It works if you click return on the keyboard and performs the search no problem. However if you click the search button with the mouse it removes the search term and replaces it back with "Enter your search here". This obviously will not return the search.
Anyone know how I can fix this so this does not happen on the mouse click?

How to pause an interval while the tab is in the background, and unpause it once the focus comes back?
I made a jsfiddle:[url]
1.) notice how the numbers are counting up.
2.) remember the current number and navigate away from the page.
3.) wait 10 sec and return to the page....the numbers keep going up while you'r not on the page.
How can i make it only go up while on the page?
I am using JQuery Autoplugin 1.1, I want to activate the autocomplete on a text box on click of a button besides the box.Currently I am trying to use the following option, but it is not working.
Here try is the id of button and try1 is the id of text box
$("#try).click( function() {
$("try1").autocomplete( months, {
minChars: 0,
max: 5,
[Code]....
Coded the following in a page :
var ArrayVariable = New Array();
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#inputbox").autocompleteArray(ArrayVariable, {
delay: 10,
[Code]....
Filling the input box does not present the list of matching array elements. I believe the array has the wrong structure because it is not recognized in jQuery.fn.autocomplete. options.data is set to null because data.constructor does not return an array. The array is filled by looping through all elements of a json stucture returned from an ajax call as in ArrayVariable[index] = jsonResponse [i]. It appears to be a normal array when looking at it with visual studio. I've also tried to create a string as in var ArrayVariable = ""; and ArrayVariable = "[ 'elementone', 'elementtwo', 'elementthree']"; but that was not successfull either.
I'm using Jrn's autocomplete jQuery plugin and I'm having trouble changing the value of my hidden input.
The first part works fine - it searches the array and I can select any of the results. However, I'm trying to grab the "id" key value from the array and use it as the value of my hidden input.
Here's my test page.
(I'm using a "GET" form, so submit the form and you'll see that the "account" value submits as empty)
Here's my array:
Code:
And the part that (I believe) should be putting the value of #account into my hidden input:
Code:
Basically, select "Account Five" from the auto-complete, and it should change the value of my hidden input to "0005".
Seems like it should be a relatively simple solution, but I'm still fairly new to JS and jQuery.
If the Autocompleter ist active and I click somewhere else on the page to close the autocompleter, the autocompleter inputbox will be focused. Can I change this behavior? I want that the autocompleter will be closed if I click somewhere and that the clicked element will be focused. The examples on the Demopages have the same behavior.

I have been using the jquery autocomplete plug-in for some time now and find it very useful. Lately I have come across the following problem in one of my JSP pages. The autocomplete suggestions are displayed and formatted properly. But when I select the one that I want, the result briefly appears in the input field and disappears. Simultaneously, the entered result automatically triggers another jquery search. The contents of my JSP page is given below. The same jquery code works perfectly well with other JSPs.
Code:
<%@ include file="../common/include.jsp" %>
<script>
var cols = []; // column mappings : 0=Last name, 1=First Name,
2=Title, 3 = Employee ID
$
.ready
function { .....
I'm trying to get Jquery's Autocomplete to redirect a user based on their input - according to Jquery, it works like this: An autocomplete plugin can be used to search for a term and redirect to a page associated with a resulting item. The following is one way to achieve the redirect:

I have a validation function and the this is the last thing it does.
[code = var mytext=document.getElementById("sizip")
if(check5(mytext,"Zip Code must be 5 digits.")==false)
{mytext.focus();return false;}
function check5(mytext,alerttxt){
[Code]....
It will validate ok, if I do not have 5 digits, I get an error box.
But then if I click the accept button again, it puts focus back on my zip code with no error.

A page I'm working on lets users open a new window, which in turn lets them send data back to the parent page to create new table rows, cells, links, etc. One of the links created is "delete", so it should delete the row that the delete link belongs to when clicked on. I can do this no problem in ff using the setAttribute('onclick',onClickEvent), but can't do this in IE. I'll show some code to make this easier to understand....

I have an Iframe in my webpage wher I have the focus. I now want to give the focus back to the parent document, so i've used top.focus() in my code. Works fine in almost every browser but not inIE7.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI want users to work from a main application. Certain things will need to be done but the users wont want to see the main screen go away while doing these certain things. So my idea is to just open a new window with the content they need, they'll make their changes, the new window will close but then I want the main page to reload.What I've done now is at the end of the script that will be run prior to the new window closing is added this (its a php app):
echo "<script>window.close();</script>";
echo "<script>window.opener.location.reload(true);</script>";
Sometimes this works in IE and Firefox but never in Chrome. I know I've seen this done before on other sites, but I cant think of what they are.

Does anyone have a library or patch to call a handler if a user leaves an autocomplete field without choosing one of the autocomplete options - i.e. they've entered free text. I'm working with an app that populates multiple fields from a single auto-complete value, and our latest requirement is to clear out a bunch of fields if the user's entered something manually - rejecting autocomplete suggestions. My initial attempts at hooking into onkeyfoo and onblur haven't lead anywhere productive, and I'm hoping someone else has managed to overcome the gnarly event and timing dependencies involved with onkeyfoo and blur being used for standard autocomplete behaviour.
