View 3 RepliesI have a page I am working and I am having some trouble with: I need to show and hide areas based on a radio selection. I initally started using the show / hide feature in Jquery but the problem is the elements need to be removed but then put back if the user selects the radio buttonagain as it has form elements that have validaion on them. The validation is still trying to validate the form elements becuase they are still on the page but just not showing. This is the radio group the user makes the selection from:
<input name="terms_usr" type="radio" id="terms_usr_1" value="1"/>
<label for="terms_usr_1">Credit Card</label>
<input type="radio" name="terms_usr" id="terms_usr_2" value="2"/>
<label for="terms_usr_2">C.O.D</label>

Im using a jQuery script to show/hide a div based based on the selection made via a dropdown.
<script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script>
The problem im having is that the value used in the dropdown lists are price values eg 10.00
Consequently jQuery seems to interprit these as css notations, meaning the code doesnt work.
How to show/hide several paragraphs when the user clicks next and then the reverse when the user clicks prev.
View 1 Replies View Relatedworking on a project at the minute but have dug a hole in javascript for myself on this one. The objective was to use cookies to save a form whilst a file was being upload at the same time on the same page.To get the filename for the uploading mp3 file inserted into the user current form which then is posted on submit to a directory where its viewable for download, the page must refresh and a query string is used to put the uploaded files name into the form.What i wanted though was the user to be able to write out there tracklist whilst there file was being uploaded so they can make the most of the time and do 2 things at once.Getting round this was ok using cookies to remember the forms input values and restoring them once the page had refreshed.
The problem is thought the cookie script will only write once to file if the text box that gets updated with a new value being the uploaded file value changes,to get round this i wanted to disable the radio button that saves the form upon change of the default value of the mirror1_url text input as the upload session is complete and the user would not need to recall the cookies values.a working version with the above problem can be found here http://urban-love.co.uk/uploads/userupload.phpim sure its only a few lines of script you can see I have implemented one in the page already see view source but it takes no effect in this form for some reason?
I want to disable the text field base on the value selected from the list box.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am new to javascript stuff but am looking to develop a form which includes 2 drop down menus but I would like to grey out some options in the second one based on the selection in the first. Basically this is a simplification of what I have:
<select name="orientation" id="orientation">
<option value="OR1">South</option>
<option value="OR2">East</option>
<option value="OR3">North</option>
<option value="OR4">West</option>
</select>
<select name="location" id="location">
<option value="L1">Front Left</option>
<option value="L2">Front Right</option>
<option value="L3">Rear Left</option>
<option value="L4">Rear Right</option>
</select>
What I would like is that if south or east are selected for orientation then I can only select front left or front right but if north or west are selected then only rear left or rear right are available.

i have a form being filled. i don't want the user to be able to submit twice. how can i either prevent the user from going back or disable the submit button?
i am currently disabling the submit button but when the user clicks back(from the next page) it asks whether it should resend data. when the data is resent it loads the original version of the page(without submit disabled).
I am trying to disable the user from being able to go to a new line in my text area. Why doesn't return false work?
Code JavaScript:
if (is_key(event, 13) && (with_field.value.length > 1)){
var search_list_ele_array = new Array();

I'm implementing theStar Ratingplugin. Star rating is called like this:
$(function(){
$('.stars').rating({
callback: function(value, link){
$.ajax({
[Code]....
After a star is clicked the form is submitted and processed. "rate.php" returns an integer from 1 to 5 with the new average rating. So far so good, but I'd like to update the Star radios with the new value and disable them after the form has been processed.
It seemed easy enough:
$('.stars').rating('select', data);
$('.stars').rating('disable');
I have a simple form - I want to disable the text field if Choice 2 from the dropdown menu is selected. I have this working with the code below, but for some reason if I go back and select choice 1 after selecting choice 2 the text field remains disabled. I only want it to be disabled if choice 2 is selected.

Is there any way to enable a form element(s) based on the selection in a <select> drop-down? I'm trying to enable/disable a group of checkboxes depending on which option is chosen in the <select> above it.I know how to enable/disable something when a box is checked (or text is entered into it) but I have no clue how to handle the <select> option.

Im trying to prevent the user from clicking any other links on my page when
the user have selected/clicked a href once.
Sometimes it takes a while before the next page loads so some user will try
clicking other links or the same link.
I can prevent this when i use buttons by calling onclick and in a javascript
getElementsByTagName("input") and then check the type to be type of "button"
or "submit" which i then disable. It works.
This also works for href html tags by calling onclick and in a javascript
remove all href, BUT it also stops everything, even the request that is
about to happen.
If i use disable getElementsByTagName("a") on href like with buttons it does
not get unclickable just get a grey color but you can click on it.
Any workaround to this? This is a seriuos web app so I want the solution
where i disable ALL links on my page so it is not possible to click on any
after the first time.
All the links is NOT in a form only links using <a href="gosomeplace"> click
this link</a> .
Would anyone care to post your favorite script for disabling the submit button on a form when there are input errors, and reenabling when all errors are resolved? I'd be curious what the different approaches are to this. I looked through my various SitePoint javascript books and surprisingly didn't find an answer to this scenario specifically.The behavior I'm trying to achieve (most efficiently) is having a form start out with the submit button enabled, but if there is a validation error, such as a required field being left blank on blur, the submit button is disabled. It's easy then to re-enable it when the user fills in that field, but harder to get the script to check and see if there are any other lingering errors before going ahead and enabling it.
My natural inclination would be to just keep a count of errors that increments and decrements when errors occur and are resolved. Then the script would check to see that the error count is 0 before re-enabling the submit button. It seemed easy, but I think I'm getting mixed up somewhere in conflicts of variable scope, and it's not turning out right.A google search rendered an example where someone was using a string variable to store errors, concatenating and replacing data to the string as errors were logged/resolved.
I know it's possible to manipulate the status bar when a user scrolls
over links, but is there a way to completely disable or hide it? I
have a flash program that connects to a database every 5 seconds, so
the status bar always says "transfering data from..." It gets quite
annoying, so I was wondering if there was any way to stop the status
bar from displaying this message. If I can't hide it, it would be nice
if I could get the status bar to say "Done".
I have this nifty little javascript and three radio buttons. Depending on what radio button is selected, it will hide/show a hidden div that contains a dropdown pertaining to each drop down.The problem is that even though the div's are hidden, the 'hidden' drop downs are still on the page and are defaulting to the last drop down.I need to modify this script so that is hides the other two div's (as it currently does) AND disables the other dropdowns that are not shown so they do not get $POST'ed.Here is the script:
Code JavaScript:
<script>
function showonlyone(thechosenone) {

Right now I am using the javascript 'prompt' to enter a photoid and the
script that I am using uses document.write
to put the proper image on the page ....i.e. PHOTOID =".jpg"
What I want is a simple user input text area and when submit is clicked a
placeholder image beneath is exchanged for the proper
image based on the user's input.
example: User enters re4555 and the image re4555.jpg replaces the image
nosel.jpg
that I have created which basically says 'no image selected'.
Dear expert (Ok, i am new to this and should maybe not address this as a letter )I hope someone can help me ... this is what i want to achieve (I am using frontpage)I want to create a table (this i can do!) that require a user input (number of guests).It then has SEVERAL options:- Select an option from a drop down list, and a price is then loaded from somewhere to create a total for that option and display it in the table (And keep that total for adding later)- Check a box, and if checked it creates a further calculation, displaying and storing the number for further calculation.a number of the above options, and a grand total on the bottom.I found more or less a page on a site that does what i am looking for, but after looking at the code, i have even LESS of an idea how it works Can someone PLEASE help me, or point me in the right direction?(I am not looking for someone to just write the code for me, as this will not teach me anything, and i want to learn)
