Aug 6, 2009I have various list boxes in a web form. I need list box No. 4 to be disabled until a selection is made in a previous list box, the No. 2 listbox. If some selection is done in listbox No. 2 then I can do a selection of list box No. 4. How can I do this?

Jun 9, 2009I have a page that displays a list of people playing in a tournament. I need to be able to generate a Leaderboard based on which players are manually selected by the admin. Next to each person there is a drop-down list. An admin can go in and select a "slot" that a player should be in on the leader board from 1 to 8, or leave it blank if none. What I need to figure out how to do is the following, when a change event happens on a drop-down list, and say the value 5 is selected, I need to check to make sure that 5 is not already selected in one of the other players drop-down lists, in other words, that the 5th leaderboard slot is not already full. if it is, display an error message and make them change that one first. how to do that with jQuery? I'm thinking it will have something to do with the each() function, but not sure exactly how the logic should work.

Apr 20, 2011I have two dropdown lists with the second one being dependent on the selection in the first.
Options in list 1: 1,3 or 4
List two should be enabled when 3 or 4 is selected in list 1.
So far so good, managed to get it to work with only one set of lists, but I actually have 18 of those sets in this form:

Disable A Radio Button Based Upon The Value Of A Text Box?
Feb 18, 2009working on a project at the minute but have dug a hole in javascript for myself on this one. The objective was to use cookies to save a form whilst a file was being upload at the same time on the same page.To get the filename for the uploading mp3 file inserted into the user current form which then is posted on submit to a directory where its viewable for download, the page must refresh and a query string is used to put the uploaded files name into the form.What i wanted though was the user to be able to write out there tracklist whilst there file was being uploaded so they can make the most of the time and do 2 things at once.Getting round this was ok using cookies to remember the forms input values and restoring them once the page had refreshed.
The problem is thought the cookie script will only write once to file if the text box that gets updated with a new value being the uploaded file value changes,to get round this i wanted to disable the radio button that saves the form upon change of the default value of the mirror1_url text input as the upload session is complete and the user would not need to recall the cookies values.a working version with the above problem can be found here http://urban-love.co.uk/uploads/userupload.phpim sure its only a few lines of script you can see I have implemented one in the page already see view source but it takes no effect in this form for some reason?
Checking Text Based On Option Selected?
Dec 6, 2010I'm taking a beginning javascript class and have been trying to figure out one last part of a homework assignment and am just not seeing how to work it out. What I'm having trouble with is doing the text verification. When a user selects an option from the select list they then need to type in the text area given. If the user doesn't type the word selected in the list then an error message should appear under the text area. If you look at my code you'll see that I have the text_check() function doing the verification. I can get it to work when there is only one option but once I add the other two it stops working. I've tried if... else and other variations, but can't seem to nail it down.

Feb 18, 2009I have a simple form - I want to disable the text field if Choice 2 from the dropdown menu is selected. I have this working with the code below, but for some reason if I go back and select choice 1 after selecting choice 2 the text field remains disabled. I only want it to be disabled if choice 2 is selected.

Dynamic Drop Down List Based On Text Field Value
Nov 25, 2009I have a form that has a pretty complicated combo box - a user starts typing text, it queries a database for matches, and displays the results to the user. The user can then select the match they desire and it has a value id, which I am currently sending to a hidden field in the form. So, for example: user starts typing in a movie name, Seven - it returns Seven and user selects it. The form submits the id of the movie seven (say 12) to a hidden field.
Where I am stumped: Once a user selects a movie title, I have another drop down select box that is to display the available formats of the movie by querying my database based on the product id (12) and returning the available formats in the list:
DVD
BLUERAY
VHS
I am pretty good at programming, but I cannot figure this out - how to make the select box fire and return results once the value for the textbox has been captured.
Auto-Populate Text Field Based On DropDown List Selection
Dec 3, 2009I have set up my website quite some time ago that has served its purpose very well, however I will now be adding an order form functionality. So far, by reading books and traversing forums, I have been able to develop a page where the user
1.Enters data into the required fields, that is then submitted to a MYSQL database via PHP,
2.Can retrieve orders that are stored in the database,
3.Delete orders that are stored in the database.
I have wamp installed on my computer as the webserver. I have also incorporated two drop down lists that both retrieve their values from tables within the database. The first drop down list retrieves the Australian States that I have stored in a table, and once the submit button is pressed, it stores the State that is selected to a separate table. This drop down list functions as it should. An extract from "From Place an order.php"

The second drop down list retrieves product names from a table that contains products and their prices. What I would like to happen, is that when the product is selected from this drop down list, a text box is automatically filled with its corresponding price. I had this drop down list working as per the "States" drop down list, but could not get it to auto populate the text field. I got some assistance from a friend and was able to get the text box to auto populate with its corresponding price, however when the page was submitted to the database, the "id" number of the product name from the drop down list was stored, and not the product name.

Update Field Based On What Is Selected
Oct 7, 2009I am trying to create this form to update a field when a certain item is selected from a dropdown menu. I would like to have it to where when heat pump is selected from heating type, the AFUE field that originally has a value of 80 needs to be updated to 7.7. I would also like for the wording to be changed... Instead of having it say Current AFUE or HSPF, have it to where when a Single Speed Furnace or Variable Speed Furnace then it says AFUE below it, when Heat Pump is selected then it says HSPF, and if Electric Heat is selected do not have anything or even delete the whole field.
