I'm trying to make a function that will disable elements of a form based on which options are selected.
I have made this work for individual form controls but now i want to make it into a function that could be used on any form control.

I have an array of list boxes. I need them to become disabled if the first one is checked (with an id of disabler_0), and I need them to be enabled if that box is unchecked. Right now it doesn't work.

I am new to javascript stuff but am looking to develop a form which includes 2 drop down menus but I would like to grey out some options in the second one based on the selection in the first. Basically this is a simplification of what I have:

What I would like is that if south or east are selected for orientation then I can only select front left or front right but if north or west are selected then only rear left or rear right are available.
I am trying to create a “simple” form with 3 dropdown options which totals up the value of the 3 selections. My script is based on one I have used in the past which used checkboxes… checkboxes work fine, but I can not get the script to work with dropdown options. I can get a string to build but totals are always 0. Code:

I'm new here, and new to js. Here is my problem: I have written out a code to make an image switch from state 0 to 1 and back to 0 again (an eye blink). The code works fine, but I would like to write the functions with arguments so it could be applied to more images. I have tried for a few hours (and searched forums) and am getting no where. I'm trying to trap a user entry that cannot be found in the database. When a code is entered, the page should give a "Code Not Found" message if it is an undefined value.
However, it didn't; and it always shows the "undefined" value to the page instead.

for some time I always found a workaround for this kind of problem. But somwhow, it feels wrong. So I'd like to know, if there's a common way to solve something like this[code]...
I'm defining the function and if the value of 'obj' hasn't until the function really gets called, this can work. But it just feels so wrong do have always global variables just to access them inside of a callback.[code]...

I've tried to find a stright forward script which show/hide specific form fields based on a selected option. I've seen many online but non of them was working with me without the need of some coding or tweeks. Does anyone here have such script?

I have a javascript function that receives the form name, field name and value and I want to be able to spit that data back to the originating form after doing some processing on the data.
The values are making it to the function perfectly, but when I try to return those values to the form, it tells me it's not a function. I know there's some syntax problem, but I'm just not sure where!

I have this javascript, which searches the url string, HOWEVER it pulls the string into one variable. ie - Shape: LongboardCutter - INSTEAD OF: Shape: Longboard - Model: Cutter.

And a corresponding text_field input element div I'd like to display based on which radio button the user selects:
When the page loads, I'd like to see:
When the user clicks on a (different) radio button, or clicks one for the first time, I'd like whichever div is currently showing to be hidden, and the newly selected one to be shown.
Right now I have jQuery code at the bottom of my page that looks like this:
For each of the four options.
When the page loads, the correct div is shown, and when I select a new button, the new div is shown, but the already showing one isn't hidden.
I've read some posts that suggest using change() instead of click(), but others indicate that's problematic in IE.
I have a menu with a lot of items that open pop-up windows when clicked on. The first item on the menu is purely intended as descriptive and default selection on the menu and is given the 'disabled' parameter- which makes the option inactive(greyed out) in Firefox; but has no effect with IE which goes ahead to open a blank pop-up window.
Please who knows how I can make a menu option to be 'disabled' in IE.

I have a product page that allows each specific item of clothing to have any number of various options. For example the admin may allow that a specific jersey can have your last name on the back and your team number, or maybe your nickname on the sleeve. These options each have an additional price, the name on the back may be $3.00, the number $2.00 and the nickname $5.00. I currently have a function like below that adds the additional fee to the total when you fill in that text box:
