HTML File Takes A Lot Of Time To Read The Script ?
Apr 24, 2010
I have a very large tree data structure and I want to display some of its sections on a HTML page. I wrote the following JavaScript that loads parts of the tree dynamically injecting the desired HTML code.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"/>[code]....
Each show_xxxxxxxx() function displays desired part of the tree on HTML.The problem is each time I load the HTML file it takes a lot of time to read the JavaScript (there are many show_xxxxxxxx() functions with a lot of HTML to insert).Is it possible to cache the loaded JavaScript into browser memory so it won't read the entire script when I reload the page with different content?

I am a newbie to Javascript and JSP. I wish to create a jsp file to read the inputs from an html (registration form called member.html), check validity of inputs using javascript and finally generate an ouput as an html file displaying the user inputs. Following is the code for the member.html file
<HTML>
<TITLE>New member application form</TITLE>
<script language="JavaScript" src="javaScript.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<!--<HEAD><H2><P align = "center">Welcome...</P></H2>-->
<H2><P align = "center"> Member Registration Form </p></H2>
</HEAD>
<HR>
<BODY> .....
The error I experience is that nothing happens when I click submit button. I have installed Tomcat 6.0 and do not seem to have issues with that.

I came across a very odd browser behavior when trying to modify a css class using javascript and at the same time having a base html statement in my html file.Without the base html statement, all browsers work fine and I can change the css class definition using javascript easily.With a base html statement, only FireFox still works while Internet Explorer and Google Chrome dont work anymore. If there is a cross-domain issue, while one browser does work and the others dont? An example of what I'm talking about, with the base statement:
http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-base.html
Without the base statement:
http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-nobase.html
how to tweak the code in the case with the base html statement in order for the javascript to work with all browser (modifying the class definition) ?I want to be able to manipulare css classes with javascript when a base html statement is in my html code.This is essentially the code:
<!--
-->
<base href='http://www.google.com'>
<style id='myStyle' type='text/css'>[code]....

In our application we have used json data and we get json data from the server and on client side we display in grid. We have functionality of paging and filter. so on paging and filtering we process that json data and show to user. For filtering we are comparing each value to the filtered criteria and when json value is more thatn 35 kb it takes around 8-10 second to filter it. So is there any way that we can minimize the processing tiem.

ser is able to create queries and issue them. The query is sent to the web-app by means of an ajax call. Then, the server computes the result set and a small subset (100) of tuples are sent back to the client for visualization.
These thing works with queries that are simple and do not require to the database long computations. As soon as I try a more complex query (computation requires ~ 7secs), the answer returned to the client is empty.
I suspect that this is a problem of timing out the connection, is that possible?
(edit) I have almost forgot, I'm using Prototype as JS library

I am currently working on an announcements portlet for a dashboard that my team is creating. What is desired is to be able to have this portlet access a stored text file (file can be edited so content is subject to change) that will have all the information needed for these announcements. The JavaScript will then write it into a html file. I am a novice at html, and javascript;

My requirement: Each time a visitor arrives at a specific webpage i want the main image on the page to be different, or more specifically, one of 6 images which will be shown in rotation. Solution: Set a cookie. Each time the visitor access the page read the cookie and display the corresponding image. Then increment the value and rewrite the cookie, so that next time they'll see the next image in sequence. NB: if the cookie does not exist (first timer) or is at 6, then the value is set to zero (and then incremented).
Problem: Can't get my coding to work. Specifically it just doesn't do anything - no error message, no cookie written. I'm a very novice scripter, as in I've cobbled the coding together from bits off the net that i think i've managed to grasp some kind of an understanding of. Very suck it and see - so far lots of sucking and no seeing!

I'm using a java-script in a HTML-page. Part of the script is the line:
var limit = 1136 - 1101;
The value 1136 is a counter and changes permanantly. In VB I can write a
routine which prints the actual value to a fule called COUNTER.TXT.
Can I change my JavaScript in such a way that it reads the value of the file
COUNTER.TXT?

I have a project that I need to read some data from an XML file.
Something like:
However, since JS is a client side script so it can't read from client side, is there any alternate way to do this? I am thinking to create a "Data" class, and many "Data" objects, is this an elegant way to do it?

I have some javascript code for a guage, i want the value for the guage to come from an external file, ie a xls, csv or txt file. Preferably a xls file. The code currently looks like this: demoGauge3.setValue(200) I was thinking of using a test.xls file where cell A1 has the only value in it. I want to read a file and use the number value in that file to drive the setvalue point.
