JQuery :: Json Value Takes More Time In Processing?
Jun 2, 2011
In our application we have used json data and we get json data from the server and on client side we display in grid. We have functionality of paging and filter. so on paging and filtering we process that json data and show to user. For filtering we are comparing each value to the filtered criteria and when json value is more thatn 35 kb it takes around 8-10 second to filter it. So is there any way that we can minimize the processing tiem.

ser is able to create queries and issue them. The query is sent to the web-app by means of an ajax call. Then, the server computes the result set and a small subset (100) of tuples are sent back to the client for visualization.
These thing works with queries that are simple and do not require to the database long computations. As soon as I try a more complex query (computation requires ~ 7secs), the answer returned to the client is empty.
I suspect that this is a problem of timing out the connection, is that possible?
(edit) I have almost forgot, I'm using Prototype as JS library

I have a very large tree data structure and I want to display some of its sections on a HTML page. I wrote the following JavaScript that loads parts of the tree dynamically injecting the desired HTML code.
Code:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"/>[code]....
Each show_xxxxxxxx() function displays desired part of the tree on HTML.The problem is each time I load the HTML file it takes a lot of time to read the JavaScript (there are many show_xxxxxxxx() functions with a lot of HTML to insert).Is it possible to cache the loaded JavaScript into browser memory so it won't read the entire script when I reload the page with different content?

testing the time JavaScript takes to process in Firefox?
I thought Firebug / Venkman debugger would show JS processing time in m/s but I can't find it.
Can I find this info out another way e.g. looking at CPU processing time?

I'm using some jQuery to work with the Last.FM API, and I'm stuck where I need to allow the user to run the JSON request a second time after the page loads (it loads once automatically when the page loads, the second time is when they push a button). What happens currently, is the JSON function is fed some default data when the page loads:
$('#graph').lastFM({
username: 'UserName',
from: 1254369600,
to: 1256184000,
apikey: 'myApiKeyHere',
onComplete: function(){
//Done
}});
The JSON function:
$.fn.lastFM = function(options) {
var defaults = {
username: 'Verdani',
apikey: 'e4f3bb251d13179bf7ce80a089fb3d0c',
onComplete: function(){}
},
settings = $.extend({}, defaults, options); .....
You might have noticed in the JSON, I write the URL the JSON is requesting to the console every time it runs. When I click this button, a new URL pops up in the console below the first one but only for a second, and then the page reloads and the original JSON request is called. It's this loop that I can't seem to break out of - why does re-calling the JSON refresh the page?

I am hiding a login panel like:
$(document).ready(function() {
$("#login").css({marginTop: "-105px"});
});
But in IE 8 it takes very long to hide? I don't like to set it in CSS because if javascript is turned off people can still login as it is visible... is there anyway to make it faster ?

We are using JQuery for one of our software projects, and it's a very nice library. It's making things far easier. We are also using the Validation plugin, which is working wonders for form validation.However there's one wrinkle that we have not been able to figure out.Is there any way to run a function before the validation takes place?We have help text displayed in some of our text inputs and text areas,which are cleared onFocus (and restored onBlur if the user has not entered anything). We would like to clear those help text before validation is run, so that we don't get any false validations based on the help text, rather than the actual value of the field, which is blank.

jQuery using getJSON calls specific handler, lets say MyHandler.ashx $.getJSON(/MyHandler.ashx?param1=someVal, function(data) {
some code;
}
In Opera and Explorer this is executed immediately. In FireFox it takes over 1s before request is executed. Even when I set breakpoint in my handler it will be hit after 1s... could you tell me why it is so slow? I got latest version of firefox.

This is my first time using jquery and Ive designed a small and simple fadein/out script that acts as a rollover on this navigation bar: [URL] Here is the code:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".navbutton").not("#active").hover(function(){
$(this).siblings(".rollover").fadeIn(300);
},function(){
$(this).siblings(".rollover").fadeOut(300);
});
});
It works great. However, if a user quickly moves their mouse over the nav buttons and repeats the process, the rollover affect will fadein/ out over and over again until its completed the cycle the amount of times the user moved the mouse over the button back and forth. I wish to change this behaviour so that, somehow, the processing is aborted if it is noticed the mouse is not present after a fadeout is completed.

About images, when an image is resized into Firefox ; the image seems to be clean ( ex : 150x150 to 130x130 ). Into IE , the same image is very bad , IE do nothing to treat this image. Maybe Jquery can do that ? In php I know how to do this but it's for too many images with differents sizes ...

I have the following (valid) json string:[code]Using firebug, I can see that the GET is returning the entire json string. However, alert only results in one of the two "text" strings being displayed ("and again"). Analyzing the watch/stack window shows that the "json" object resulting from the getJSON call has been reduced to a single "chat" element, instead of both "chat" elements present in the array.

I have been trying to use the following:
document.getElementById('someId').setExpression('s omeExpression');
This works ok.
But in my actual implementation, I have over 20 different elements
which need to be positioned using this method. When I made the code, I
found that my CPU would be at 100% for even trival events such as
mouseover() and mouseout()
Am I doing something wrong?

I have a form that has two input buttons. One of the input submit buttons is being used to delete data from a database. Whenever a user clicks that delete button I am trying to make it so that a confirmation message appears that confirms that the user wants to carry on with the action. Then if they click Ok, the form should continue processing otherwise it will fail.
<form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['php_self']; ?>" method="post" id="data" name="data">
<fieldset>
<table>
<tr>
<th>Check</th><th>Id</th><th>Added</th><th>Method</th><th>Host</th><th>Port</th><th>Time</th><th id="shell">Shell Location</th>
[Code]...
Currently, the confirmation message works great but I can't get the form to submit once I click.

I have a html file that I want to load, loop through the json data and for each json entry I want to add a new block of the html and insert the json data into the matching div/class of the html. json looks like this:
{"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
html looks like this:
<div class="Name"></div><div class="Age"></div>
So for each json entry of name/age, I want to insert that into the html, and then add another row, until all json data has been fetched. After this I want to insert all of this into #box, which is just a divthat should contain that html. Looping like this obviously does not work, since I just keep replacing the same html through the loop.
var jsonData = {"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
$.each(json.Super, function() {
$('#box .Name').html(this.Name);
$('#box .Age).html(this.Age);
});

I encountered some code in "Javascript the good part" from Douglas Crockford.There is a way to passing callback function as second argument to string.replace() method.
Code:
var entity = {
quot: '"',
lt: '<',
[code]....
1. How do I know what the number of parameters should be in callback function ( function(a,b) ) ?
2. How do I know what will be passed in as a and b when I am defining the callback function?
