Change The Display Property Of Specific Divs Using Select Boxes
Feb 23, 2009
I'm attempting to change the display property of certain divs depending on the criteria of multiple select boxes.
I got it to work by GetElementsByTagName('div') but it then selects all divs rather then the select few i actually want it to work on. I tried changing the selection to GetElementsByName but this doesn't work, why i don't really know.
I am using javascript to switch between a series of divs, on clicking a navigation tab the divs display property is set to 'block' and all other divs have their display property set to 'none'. That works fine, the problem I have is when I redirect to another page (e.g. a PHP script) on return to the index the divs have reset and only the default div is shown, rather than the div that was showing when the user left the page. The solution, as I see it, is two stages: Write a function to display the relevant div based on the variable passed to it, then work out how to pass this variable around various pages (post/get). I am very inexperienced with javascript and it drives me mad that the script literally does nothing rather than throwing up an error (as in PHP) but this is what I have so far in terms of a function:
I'm using onchange display to hide/show form elements depending on the value of a select box. It works perfectly well (I actually really adore it) for one select box, but I have another select box which I'd like to act similarly.
<head>
But when I go to add a second select (obj,id1,id2,id3,id4,id5,id6) with new "ifs" and id's, etc and so forth, neither work.
Is there any way to fuse them and get a second select to work the same?
I'm doing a very simple expand/collapse function using 'slideToggle'. The button that triggers this event simply says 'Expand/collapse'. I want this text to change depending on whether an element is visible or hidden.
I have four html form check boxes.The user is allow to choose one or three of the check boxes, the last check box has a value of None.
Example: What's your favorite color.1. Red 2.Blue 3. Green 4. Gray. 5. None.The user can select more then one color.So I'm wondering how can I make the other check boxes deselect when the user click None.So if the user select None, then the other boxes cannot be checked. know you can do this with radio buttons but I would like the user to select more then one option.
What is happening is $(this) is no longer based on .expand being the (this) that is clicked.
like if i have a button SOMEWHERE randomly on the page with this
<div onclick="Minimize('_alerts');">Click Here</div> this will minimize alerts but because the (this) in minimize function doesn't actually point to the right button that I want to add a class to.
Is there a way to modify the minimize function so that it finds the <div id="mytoggle"><ul> <li class="expand boxminimize" rel="_alerts"> using the rel toggle, and then changes the class of the li from expand boxminimize to boxexpanded??
just like the .expand click function I posted on the top of the post that works?
I want to be able to set a property on a private object by giving the not notation path to the value. The difficulty is that this object is within closure so I can't access it directly to set the value the normal way (eg. dot.notation.path = 'new value'). This seems weird but I can't think of the obvious way.
Example:
// setter function function set(path, change){ var privateObject = { a: 'a',
I will show u my code pages. addcart.php <?php require_once("../Connection/connection.php"); if(!$_POST['img']) die("There is no such product!"); $img=mysql_real_escape_string(end(explode('/',$_POST['img']))); $q_result=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM tbl_items WHERE item_photo='".$img."'"); $row=mysql_fetch_assoc($q_result); $period = $_POST['period']; $count = $_POST['count']; .....
My problem is I want to update the totalprice div, when I change the value from the combo boxes. I just want to calculate the rate and the quantity and update it to the totalprice div. But now it is not working. I am retrieving the rate from a database using another php file shown in that script.js. All the values are retrieving and working fine. I use ajax drag and drop care script there. [URL]
OnChange, I want to invoke a function that auto populates the rest of the SELECT fields in the form. The select boxes will vary in quantity as the page is dynamic, but the values are always the same (like the code above).
I'm inexperienced with Javascript and I found this script, but I'm not sure how to alter it to do what I want. I have a PHP script that creates forms in a loop. $z in this case could equal 3, and 3 forms each containing 1 Position/Office field will be created including 1 Candidate field. If a user wants to add a new candidate for that specific position, I want to be able to add a Candidate text field just relevant to that Office/Position. With this script, I've only been able to pop up a text field under one Office/Position and not under any other Office/Position. I think it has something to do with my divs.
Javascript:
var inival=0; // Initialise starting element number // Call this function to add textbox function addTextBox() {
I want to hide all divs inside a specific div. Fx. <div name="theDiv"> <div id="hidden">hidden div</div> </div> I would think it was: document.getElementsByName('theDiv').getElementsByTag('div').style.visibility="visible"; But that doesn't work?
I have 3 divs with the same name wrapped in a container. Each div includes a span. At the moment, when you hover over a div, its displays all spans. What i want is if you hover over a specific div, i would like to display it's span only. Is this possible ?
I have a page: [URL] that works perfectly fine in every browser I try, except for actual IE7 (it even works fine in IE8 emulating IE7). When you search for something on that page and have a display of results, each result has a link that changes a table row's display to visible, and hides the row when clicked again. It doesn't do that in IE7. here are no errors or warning in Firefox's Error Console. But IE7 has an "Error on Page" notice (which does NOT appear in IE8 emulating IE7), that says:
Line: 59 Char: 11 Error: Could not get the display property. Invalid argument.
[Code]I really don't know what to do, or where to begin. Everything in my limited knowledge seems to be working just fine. Most of my site's visitors use IE8, but enough use actual IE7 that I really need to fix this.
i am trying to change an image display to inline everywhere it appears using javascript. Works good in IE but not in Safari. Is this not a legit in Safari...
Code: var patt1=/viewCalendar/gi; var calImg = document.getElementsByTagName('img'); for (i=0; i<calImg.length; i++)
I've set up my form with javascript popup boxes to display help. Im using mouse over to display the boxes, and I'm specifying the top, left, and size values for each box..... Which works FINE on my monitor...... BUT, a user was running the application and they were on a differently sized monitor and the boxes were in a different location...
My monitor was set at 1024 x 768. The user was set at 1280 x 800. I presume the reason the boxes appear to be moving is because screen varies while the form is constant... So, does javascript use it's zero, zero point for top and left locations of the box from the monitor rather than the window the form is running is? And if so, how do I set these up so they DON'T move around and obscure things they shouldn't?
I am looking to make a page with a display on it using input boxes, but I want the input boxes to get some of the values from an array I enter at the beginning. To start with I am only entering 2 items, as it will make it easier until I have it all up and running. I have no problems getting a table to come up, with a label and then an input box beside it. I can even prompt the user for the number of input boxes they require. I also can make it so that the input box is disabled, so that the user cannot change the contents of it. But, I am totally stuck as to how to get this how I want it...
I am wanting labels at the top of each row, not the left hand side, and I am wanting rows of 3 input boxes, with the first 2 containing the text from my array, which is what I'm wanting ti be the disabled boxes. Basically I am starting a very simple page for an online order facility.
This is the code I have been working on, I have totally messed it up by now trying different things but it will give an idea of what I have been attempting I figured lol. I have got it to have 6 empty input boxes all on top of each other, but I realised after that if i set all the values etc in the table, then im not getting the array to define the contents :S and, they are still all on top of each other which i dont want... And my attempts at getting the array to define the number of input boxes has so far been futile. I end up with a blank page, just a button. just getting frustrated lol.
I am am trying to change the "display" property of a div from "none/block" to normal in order to display it on mouseover event. But I do not know why it is not working!
Here is the html code <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> [Code].....
currently I have a page with six links. Now since I want to display the imformation on those six links (when each is clicked) in a #mainDiv (below all the links). if figured the most efficient way of doing so was to have all six "links" in six different div's -- all with display: none... and when a user clicks a link I just have the appropriate div set to display: block. Code:
I could use a hand changing the display property of a group of objects based on classname. What I have here doesn't work; perhaps you can see why? I think the basic problem is that I don't know how to access the objects properly.. Code:
if the dt-element in one of the definition lists has a specific css-property (e.g. length > 100px) then the dd-element with the css-class "subtitle" in the same definition list should be removed.
I am trying to change my cursor to a help cursor for a webapp I'm helping to develop. It partially works, except when an element has a CLASS attribute. For example:
I am trying to select a div element based on its display property. Due to some reasons I can't use Id to select this element, DIV element is structured like this:
I am currently encountering a problem with setting "display" property from "none" to "block":
Browsers will refresh itself when the display property is changed; this causes the element to display then suddenly disappear after the page reload. Do you guys have an idea what I can do to avoid it?
I tried using jquery's show command, css command with setting display to block, and pure javascript method like document.getElementById("theId").style.display="block".
