Can't Start And Read Php's Script Returned String
Apr 16, 2011
I have to do something that looks an easy task, but I can't do it.I have a page with a div and an id= "livetimings" assigned to it, I want to show a table inside that div and update it every 20 seconds.I have a php script which prints the table and it works, I've tried that script by itself, now I'm trying to call it through an AJAX call in this way [code]inside the <body> tag I've put a setInterval() which starts the getTempi() every 20 seconds and it also works.The not working part is that nothing appears inside the div.I've put some alerts inside the JS code all of them before the req.open pop up, then nothing, so I think the problem is there, but I don't get it.script.php is in the same folder of the html page.The php script has an echo at the end which prints the html code for the table.

Isnt returned in var data but the whole file is returned as a string.

I wrote a .repeat(n) function for strings which seemed to work fine:
String.prototype.repeat = function(n) {
// repeats the string n times
if (n<1) return "";
if (n<2) return this;
for (var aStr = [this];--n>0;) aStr.push(aStr[0]);
return aStr.join("");
}
Only I was a little surprised to get "object" (instead of "string")
when I tried:
alert (typeof ("x".repeat(1)));
I fixed this by modifying ...
if (n<2) return this+"";

Through an AJAX implementation, I am receiving a SQL Query result that has:An object's attribute delimited by a comma.An entire object (database row) delimited by a colon.This is an example response to make it more clear for you.
1,Jeremy,130,80;2,Lauren,370,300;3,Jeancarlos,200,200;4,Luke,330,70;5,Bloom,392,108;
What I am trying to achieve is placing all of this data into an array. I've set up a little test bed to try and get this to work; this is all I have so far:
var testString = "1,Jeremy,130,80;2,Lauren,370,300;3,Jeancarlos,200,200;4,Luke,330,70;5,Bloom,392,108";
var testArray = new Array();
testArray = testString.split(";");[code]....
get a multi-dimensional array that has information for each person. Example:
FinalArray[0][0] = 1
FinalArray[0][1] = Jeremy
FinalArray[0][2] = 130

I have a JS function which checks whether the directory field value entered starts with an alphabet or number only. Following is the code using regular expression.
function testpw() {
var un = document.getElementById("dir").value;
if (/^[^A-Za-z0-9]/.test(un)) { // only a-z0-9 allowed as first character
[code]......
method which only accepts "/ktp/knas/" as the starting value and anything after that. ie it should accept /ktp/knas/*, rest everything is not accepted.

I wanted to only match in the middle of a string
I have a string = " sdfasf 23234"
I wanted to get the numbers like /([0-9]*)/
But this fails and returns nothing because the string begins with letters. Instead I had to do /[a-zA-Z ]*([0-9]*)/
If that's the case then, why do we bother with something like
/^[a-zA-Z]*([0-9]*)$/
The pattern is already assumed to start at the beginning of the string

Is there way to only match on strings starting with the first characters input?For instance, if I have a list as such:[ 'Tamara','Amy']when I start to type 'Am', I only want to see "Amy" in the drop down list, not "Tamara".I feel like this should be an easy configuration option or easy mod, but alas, I could not find it.

Here is the code I am running:
The url is a very straightforward servlet that queries a database and returns either Y or N. That part is working fine. The first alert shows Y or N just as it is supposed to.
However, the second alert is always showing Turbo, as though the if statement is not able to compare properly. This is probably javascript rather than specific to jQuery, but can anyone see where I'm going wrong?

The following code is my form, if one of the fields is left blank (and there will usually be one left blank) the calculation returns NaN and will not perform the task needed. I initially had the form set to calculate in metric kilometers and liters, when I converted the math portion to miles and gallons it started doing this.This is the line giving me the problems:
var cars_emissions=(((mileage1/efficiency1)*0.3732417216/1000)+((mileage2/efficiency2)*0.3732417216/1000)+((mileage3/efficiency3)*0.3732417216/1000));

So just found out the problem I was having, and came up with a solution (bandaid really) but would like to know if anyone else has run into this and what they did.
Code JavaScript:
var left_margin = $(this).css('margin-left').replace(/D/g,'');
So the above, get the left margin of the object, strip all but numbers and store into a variable. Easy, right? Here's what happened. Inserted the object into the DOM, Chrome returned 212px, which was converted to 212ďż˝*fine. Firefox on the other hand returned 212.5px, which was converted to 2125ďż˝ not fine. I'm centering the element on the screen based on this number, so the additional 2000ish pixels is WAY off. My solution was to increase one of my initial values a single pixel in which both browsers return 213pxďż˝*but like I said this is only a bandaid solution. Not really understanding the value of .5 pixel, but looking into that. Is there a rounding function in jquery? Javascript I would have to strip the px from the string, convert to integer and THEN round.

I have a <div> tag that contains a table of results returned using AJAX. I have an onmouseover on the div so that when the user is viewing the results the div stays visible. An onmouseout is also declared so that when the user goes off of the div, it will disappear after a few seconds. When the user clicks on an entry I perform some logic and close the div.
However the problem occurs when my AJAX returns too many results to display in the set size of my div. When this occurs my div becomes scrollable. When the user is interacting with the scrollable, it seems to fire the onmouseout event because the div disappears.
