Jquery POST :: Allow The JSON To Load In My Browser?

Dec 23, 2009

On a page, I have a javascript json output that is generated through PHP. So, for instance, it would look like this:

Code:
var upny_iniresults = {
// "q_id" : "65977",
// "q_txt" : "What is your favorite genre of Music?",
"q_cdata" : [

And then PHP code that generates the JSON. I loop through a question, scan for the results (survey site) and display it as json data. Works perfectly. Basically, the JSON is important because I have existing functions that work with that data (display survey results of that question/etc)Here's the question.How can I generate the same Json output, so it can be read by my other jquery functions (Created by a previous developer, I am a PHP guy) by using Jquery POST as well as a query string. The idea is something like:

Code:
$.post("create_json_results_for_this_question.php", $("#firstform").serialize());
# Firstform is the name of the form that is submitted.

So, would a jquery POST allow the JSON to load in my browser (which I will activate during a click function) just as my PHP json output works or is there another way? I just want to simulate the same effect, but be able to USE the jquery querystring that I have, which is:

$("#firstform").serialize());

because this lets me return survey results of a previously submitted question.My last q. was too convoluted and I realized my dilemma is just the json output.

JQuery :: .Post() - Accessing The Returned Json Object?

Sep 28, 2010

The below code posts a couple of vars to a php file which sends back a json object containing (in the test case) one object called 'faves' with 2 variables (let's say called var1 and var2). I can't seem to access the variables after the ajax call. The result is always an 'undefined' error message. I've tried:

console.log(data.var1)console.log(data.faves.var1)
console.log(var1)

All to no avail. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? I have checked with FireBug that all the data returned is good and well-formed etc.

$(function() {
$.post("<? echo base_url(); ?>test.php", {
id: "<?php echo $id; ?>",

JQuery :: Treat A String As JSON?

Sep 7, 2009

I use $.getJSON for all my ajax stuff and it works beautifully but there is one particular situation where I use an iframe hack to do an ajax file upload and even though the returned value is a json object (created with PHP), jQuery treats it like a string. I'm using json2.js right now and it does the trick but I don't like including that much extra code because of one rare situation. So my question is, be it with $.getJSON or by specifying 'json' as the expected return type of an ajax request, jQuery *seems* to be able to convert into json. The string returned is already a json object, I just need jQuery to be able to treat it like one. I've tried wrapping it in a jQuery object but no use. (and I really don't want to go down the eval() path)...

JQuery :: How To Pass Object In JSON That Is Not String

Feb 3, 2011

I'm a beginner in Jquery and I have a big doubt, follow at bellow the code to be better viewed: The method below is static and Static methods do not work with instance, For this reason I passed the 'nameLabel' that the typeis Label by parameter, however I need to catch the exception and show it to the user.

[WebMethod]
public static string RetornaNomeCliente(string idCliente,Label nomeLabel){
string nomeCliente = String.Empty;
try {
nomeCliente = Cliente.RetornaNomeCliente(idCliente);
} catch (Exception e) {
nomeLabel.Text = e.Message.ToString();
} return nomeCliente;
}

But I'm using Jquery and this method is used in a Ajax Request and I use the Json to pass the datas, how showed below:
var idCliente= $("#<%= txtIDCliente.ClientID %>").val();
var nomeLabel = $("#<%= lblMensagem.ClientID %>");
var poligonal = "{ idCliente: " + idCliente + ", + lblMensagem: " + nomeLabel + " }";
But the problem is that I need to pass in my Json the nomeLabel with Label, but always a problem happen, because the same is showed like 'indefined'. How to solve this situation?

JQuery :: Get Function Returning String Not JSON Object

Aug 5, 2009

I have a very simple PHP script that returns JSON like this:
{"question":"What day is it?"}

And I'm trying to call it from another page using Ajax. My code looks like this:
var url = "/test.php";
$.get(url,
function(data){
$.each(data, function(i, value) {
alert(value);
}, "json"
);
});

When I run it I get each character printed out one at a time in a separate alert. And then when I used this line of code:
alert(typeof data);
It tells me that 'data' is a string. Shouldn't it be a JSON object?

JQuery :: Remove Trailing Comments From JSON String With Ajax?

Jul 12, 2011

I am using a framework, which returns invalid JSON Strings like:

/* { "myobject" : "test"} */

The error is the comments before and after the json string. This has been invented for security reasons. As the www says returning JSON directly is somehow discouraged because it can be exploited. I am not a security expert at all but would like to go conform with this recommendation. However, now I get this string above with header type "application/json" Can I somehow hook into jQuery and tell it to remove /* */ from the json string by default before parsing the json and breaking it into objects?

JQuery :: Adding An Event Handler To A String From A $.post Reponse?

Dec 6, 2011

I have a basic HTML form with a button that submits the form via jQuery's $.post to a processor. That processor returns the identical form, including any errors below any of the elements e.g. input, textarea, etc. The response also has a new submit button to submit the form once more, however, because I'm retrieving a giant string with HTML elements and because jQuery already loaded, that new submit button doesn't do anything. How can I parse jQuery's response for that button and assign a handler so that when the button is pushed, it submits the form again?

Can't Start And Read Php's Script Returned String
