JQuery :: Parse A Json String Received By $.getJSON()

I'm trying to parse a Json string received by $.getJSON(). I can receive the string but firebug gives me an "invalid label" error. I think it is because the string is an hash array with a number as first label, but I'm not sure. This is the string:

I need to parse an HTML string received from an AJAX request. I wrote a function that places the HTML string into an unappended (not added) <div> , which opens the string up to the DOM hierarchy. However, when I try to access the elements of this <div> , I get an error in the console that says root.getElementById is not a function. This tells me that I can't access any of the child nodes.
Here is what my script looks like:

I am having difficulty displaying a specific key from a json file. I am trying to parse the following json file using query:

I am using this type of function to parse the data:
$.each(json.route,function(i,route){
<!--add a paragraph tag to the results div and enter the speficied key-->
$("#results").append('<p>Result: '+ route +'</p>');
Using this I am able to print all the keys from the route but I am not able to print a specific key.
What I want to do is just get the results for the key "fuelUsed" using this method:
$("#results").append('<p>Result: '+ route.fuelUsed+'</p>');
But I never get back any data that way. Am I not specifying my key correctly?

I am trying to find a way to get more than one characters pasted on html text field (input type=text), using onkeydown or onkeypress, I am NOT interested in onkeyup(it works), so please do not suggest me this solution. Also I am not interested in Jquery, I do not like to use it. I need solution to work with all browsers.
I am able to do that if you type one character, by taking the character of the event, but till now I am unable to get group of characters come from the paste (ctrl+V) or by mouse.You can look at Facebook search menu that shows auto complete results, it works on events: onkeydown and onkeypress and you notice that you get the result before you release your finger, try to paste something (more than one character) and you get the result before releasing finger, how? Onkeypress and onkeydown do not show first thing you paste or type because they happen before the text being added to text field.

How can I adequately parse a JSON response I'm getting from the server, which happens to be an array?
The array I'm getting back is actually this one:

I believe this one is valid JSON, but my attempts to parse it are always failing when I do it like this:

The above code displays 'null', and the documentation says a null occurs when the JSON isn't valid. so, what's going on ?
I need to know the codes to parse as well as access the values in the parsed response.

I am submitting a form via AJAX. The form may either return HTML (when there are input errors) or JSON (successful response). If during request I specify "dataType: 'json'" then HTML doesn't get thru correctly, if I don't then JSON is displayed as plain text. I am sending the "application/json" header back correctly. I don't understand why doesn't jQuery just pick that up and parse it as JSON? Is there an option? Is there something I can do to make this work?

I have a wordpress site with dropdown menus that currently are working with jQuery, now the issue is when trying to dynamically update the menus and parsing it with json.parse. For some reason I am not getting any data back of the following code (if I try to alert (data) I just get a blank box).

and just print out the function, than I would get the data on screen. now if I was to access my php file directly than that fill will output an error due to missing plugins.. I guess that is just how wordpress sorta work.. but again I do get the info that i need by just printing out the function. Do anyone knows a work around for this? I am kinda pulling my hairs out.

I am trying out $.ajax instead of getJSON for debugging purposes. Because getJSON did not report an error in IE (6,7 or 8) and I am
trying to figure out why a jQuery plug-in is not painting my returned images to the screen in IE but is in other browsers. So I tried this. Interestingly enough, it hits the error event in IE but not firefox, safari and the rest and I don't know why (this code works great and renders my data just fine in FireFox and the rest). I know my returned json is valid:

I don't know what else to do to troubleshoot why IE is having so much trouble with the returned JSON or just executing the function(data)

Same result. Firefox and the rest had no issue. IE still exited the $.ajax and my error method kicked in. No rhyme or reason whatsoever and I tried the IE Dev tools... nothing. About the only thing I get is this: Line: 163 Error: System error: -1072896658.Line 163 which is simply the line: function() { alert("An error has occurred. try again."); This has got to be the most f*d up situation I've been in and I need to get this working! I just cannot understand why IE can't parse a getJSON or $.ajax response, that is impossible or else there would be a huge meltdown with jQuery.

The data is multidimensional, and I have been able to use this data within the callback function. I have client-side javascript that is using AJAX to receive JSONs from a server-side database-querying php script. My application is working fine in firefox and chrome. IE8 is giving me trouble, however. The error I get is:

I see that jQuery provides a function to turn an object into a set of URL query parameters: $.param({foo:"xxx", bar:"yyy"}) => "foo=xxx&bar=yyy" is there a function which does the opposite, i.e.parsing a query string into an object? The reason is that when I make an Ajax request, I want to take some parameters from the original page and include them in the new request, and modify others. I can get the original page's query string from location.search, which may contain, say, "?foo=xxx&bar=yyy" Now, suppose I want to submit an Ajax request with the same value of foo as the original page but a different value of bar, what's the cleanest way to do that? Remember that the original query string might have the two parts the other way round, i.e. "?bar=yyy&foo=xxx" If I need to write a function to split this myself, I know it's not a major undertaking, but I just wanted to see if I've missed something in the API.
