Adding To Existing Obj Using JSON

Jul 16, 2006

There's an object:

foo = new Object();

and a property called 'bar' with a value of 1 is to be added to it using
JSON. If I try the following it only demonstrates my ignorance:

var str = "{foo:{bar:1}}";
eval(str);
alert(foo.bar) // gives undefined

Could someone please explain what I'm doing wrong here?

JQuery :: SVG - Draw Using An Already Existing Svg Document?

Jun 29, 2011

Using the jQuery SVG plugin, is it possible to load a large .svg and then only draw certain parts on an as needed basis? For example, if you have an outline of all U.S. states but the user only wants to see a certain state. Taking their input, you draw just those lines that are needed.

If this is possible, please point me in the right direction or provide some example code. I am currently using: $('#fp').svg({loadURL: '../rockwell-working2-merged.svg'}); Which displays the entire svg.

Adding If/else To Existing Function For Js Menu?

Sep 18, 2011

modifying an existing function which controls the highlighted states of a multi level js accordion menu. I have had to use javascript due to certain css elements not working in safari browsers.My problem is due to the multi level aspect as when a sub link is clicked, the parent link above it then deselects. I need the parent link to stay active when its sub links are clicked and only deselects when a link outside of that list is clicked upon.I understand the theory of adding a conditional statement but simply don't know how to apply it correctly within the functionHere is the existing function which tells a link to be active or selected:var Lst;

function CngClass(obj){
if (Lst) Lst.className='.topnav';
obj.className='selected';

Adding A Variable To A Pre-existing Script

Mar 6, 2005

The script below is configured as an onmouseover & out fad-in url script. It's been configured it so that the fading of links only occurs in areas with the class name "fade". My first and simplest request is that someone has a quick look and changes the code from class name "fade" to class name "descriptions". i would do it myself but the word fade is also used for other variable names within the script (etc) and i'm not 100% sure which names to change and which to leave

The second aspect I need help with may be somewhat more challenging.
The script currently fades the TEXT of the link from one color to another. I need it to fade something else. luckily i think the modifications to the script might not neet to be that extensive. Here's what I need.

Instead of the color of the text fading in & out, i need the color of the boder to fade in & out. Here's an example:
i need the properties of the link to go from
text-decoration:none; border-bottom:1px solid FFFFFF;
to finish at
text-decoration:none; border-bottom:1px solid FFB903;

the only change is the color... so i figure all we need to do is create a color variable and place it in the code, like so:
text-decoration:none; border-bottom: &#391;px solid' + 'color'
and then simply have that color variable increment using the startColor and endColor variables found below Code:

Document But When Using The Object Onmousemove It Seems To Run The Code Even If The Mouse Is Still Over Then Document

Dec 6, 2010

I am trying to make a function run if the mouse is moved over the document but when using the object onmousemove it seems to run the code even if the mouse is still over then document, how can I make it so if the mouse is over the document but isn't moving then don't run the code but once the mouse moves run the code? This is the code I made to handle the mouse move collections.

[Code]..

But with this code it runs even when the user doesn't move their mouse and the notification box pops up every second as the code seems to think a still mouse is a moving mouse.

I was thinking about having a run once system but that would mean if the mouse moves it runs once and then if the mouse moves again the code will not run as it has already ran before.

Document.createElement Keeps Adding Everything On Its Own Line?

Oct 4, 2010

I'm using the document.createElement method to add dynamic table and from elements to a page, but I'm running into a problem where I'm adding 2 objects to 1 cell. The two of them combined are not wider than the cell, but they won't display next to each other, they're always on their own lines and I can't figure out why...

HTML Code:
var hiddenElement = document.createElement('input');
hiddenElement.setAttribute('type', 'text');
hiddenElement.style.cssText = 'width: 100%; display: none;';

[Code]....

The text input (hiddenElement) should fill 1 line of the cell, but then the two buttons (createButton and cancelButton) should both sit on the line below it, but the cancelButton insists on siting on it's own line below the creatButton, and I can't figure out why.

(I know they have their display set to none, that's being set to block by a function, which is how I know they're all on their own line)

Saving The Document After Adding Content Dynamically

Apr 21, 2006

I am facing a certain problem when I try to add a content to a page dynamically and then save the page. I add a content dynamically to the page on a mouse click and then after the content appears in the screen, I try to save the HTML file from the browser. When I open the saved HTML file, I am not able to see the dynamically added text. This happens only in IE.

This is the code that I use.

"document.body.insertAdjacentHTML("beforeEnd", "<div id='idCanvas'> Sample Text </div>");"

This code successfully adds the new text to the page. But, when I try to save the page from "File -> Save As" and then open the saved file, I am not able to view that text. I need to get that text in the saved document as well.

I also tried using:

Pre-calculate Width Of Element Before Adding It To Document Tree?

Oct 20, 2011

I understand that if I have an element in my document tree, I can use getComputedStyle() to determine its width based on CSS styles.

I want to dynamically create some elements to populate a given div, but I want the size of these elements to be controllable via CSS. When dynamically populating the div, I need to determine how many elements will fit. Currently, I have to add an element to the div first so its size will be calculated, then I can base my calculations off of that. However, this seems like not a great way to do ti.

Is there some way to ask for the size of an element to be calculated as if it were part of the document tree? That way, I could make my changes all at once.

Problem Adding HTML Content Loaded Using Document.load()

Jul 23, 2005

I'm building a tree control that lazily loads branches of the tree
using the document.load() method.

The external XML document that is loaded is generated by a servlet as
XHTML. What I would like to do is to add the new tree branch to the
correct place in the document in the browser window using the innerHTML
property of the parent node.

The relevant code snippet that I've written to do this is:

var target = document.getElementById(parentId);
target.innerHTML = xmlDoc.documentElement.xml;

This doesn't work, furthermore looking at the W3C DOM API it would seem
that the document.xml property is a Microsort proprietary extension
which makes it unsuitable for my application.

Adding PHP Code To Page Using JS?

Aug 9, 2011

Basically, I have it so that when you click something, then it expands and then shows text. The part I am having trouble at is the text being a php include. Here is the line that works for pre-typed in information:

divbody.innerHTML = "Some random text here.";

Then when I want to do something like this:

divbody.innerHTML = "<?php include('widgets/products.php'); ?>";

Then the actual innerHTML comes out like this:

<!--?php include('widgets/products.php'); ?-->

It seems as if it is changing '<' and '>' to '<!--' and '-->' respectively.
