Over in this thread, someone suggested a solution to an issue I was having when attempting to send multiple values per select box to a php file. You can review my original post here for reference:

The problem is, when I change my form names to be arrays (i.e. age[] vs. age), it broke my Ajax script. I copied the original script from w3schools, and I don't really know much about javascript/Ajax to know what it is that I need to do to fix this.
Here is my Ajax script:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript"> function showResult(name,age,gender,ethnicity,facility) { if (name=="" && age=="" && gender=="" && ethnicity=="" && facility=="")
[Code]....
Now, when I leave my field names without the [], the script works MAHvalously. However, as soon as I add in the [] to the field names, and also update the vars to be age[].value instead of age.value, etc, it breaks.
I have used AJAX lots before and I wondered if it was possible to set variables from an AJAX file E.g. an ajax file could set var set1 = 10; var set2 = 55; with both variables coming from an external file called by AJAX. Which JS side perform the request and the format of the file that is requested.
I have an ajax function which passes form field values to a PHP script which in turn saves the data to my database. all works great.
I now need to add a file input to my form and pass the file upload ot the same PHP script.
I have read an article [url] which explains how to do this but this would suggest it is a completely separate function.
My question is, is there anyway I can expand my existing function (below) to inlude the file upload process to save having 2 functions doing the same process?
What code do I need to write to traverse above XML code to retrieve those userid value only when the selected=1???? And display the userid "A2" and "A5" with window.confirm in Javascript
My problem is I am making a side menu and I want it to behave like jQuery Accordion...I am not using Accordion because I want to have a "Double Accordion" a nested one if you want...
Also I'm a lot more at ease with Scriptaculous...I get how to Blind down (or Slide down) the problem is I want to create a function that will detect whether a div is down already or not...
So my question is how do I retrieve values to tell me if it's down or if it's up...
I need to have someone give me a hint or show me an example where I can retrieve all the values of the options of a dropdown list, also I've created a dropdown list with Jquery and it looks good in all browsers EXCEPT IE7???? I thought that jquery was cross-browser compatible???
So, this is my last problem. If I can nail this, then the website will be completely AJAX driven, and will be spectacular.
Now it is really simple.
1) When I hit the button, in the simplified example below, the website sends a code to the server.
2) The server then re-writes the "xyz.js" JavaScript file with a new array of values.
Is there any way to re-retrieve that JavaScript file, from the server to make it the current "xyz.js" rather than the old one that loaded on the client originally.
I can get a new XML data file and re-submit that to the website, but how do I re-retrieve the new JavaScript code?[code]...
i have a web service at this url http:[url]....i use hotel search file with HotelSearch method and method will retrieve xml file contains the matched data. the varialbe that i made post with it is named : HotelData
the data of the variable is a string file that contains an xml data like this
I'm trying to use AJAX to load user's profile through a drop-down list on selected user. There are 3 seperate files:
1) view_info.php 2) selectuser.js 3) getuser.php
I tested and found that the value $q did pass from view_info -> selectuser.js -> getuser.php, and value changes correctly as i select different user from the drop-down list. Problem is, it simply can't fetch data from my database using the value $q. I tried debugging it for 3 hours already and is totally out of idea whats wrong with the script. i'm new to AJAX, this is my first script..
I have a list of products where they have minimum quantities in a hidden input. Some products have multiple colours, though the same minimum quantity and I'm trying to implement a jQuery check that entries made are at least equal to the minimum.
Blank or '0' entries are fine but if it's below the minimum quantity it should set to the minimum.
HTML:
Is there something obviously wrong with this? It isn't performing the minimum check and I'm really not sure why.
i am developing a web application in which i have to retrieve the user browser and platform information. i am using javascript to get this information and tryin to pass these values to the html hidden form element. pasting a brief code from my application.
I have an ajax script that I would like to use to retrieve a password hint from a database. Both the ajax script and the php retrieval script are stored on the same domain (we'll call it domain1.com), but the ajax script runs on another domain (domain2.com).All the scripts are working fine, individually, but when I try to integrate them, I'm getting a ready state of 4, but an HTTP status of 0. I've traced the code flow and the retrieval script is being called by the ajax script OK and it's echoing all the right stuff, but it's just not getting back to calling ajax routine.
I've read that an ajax routine can only call a script that resides on the same domain that it runs on. Is this correct and, if so, does anyone know of a work around, because I really need to be able to store the ajax script on domain1 and run it on domain2?If not, then can anyone suggest why I'm getting an HTTP status of 0, when all the individual components are working fine?
I am doing a project now i going to use ajax to retrieve coordinate from the json in html and pin the coordinate onto a point on the map using javascript but the problem is i am only able to use one point on the map can tell me what to add in ? or how should i change it with? it will be nice if u can change the code from the below and show me how

I am trying to use a $.post call in jQuery to check a user's credentials before submitting a form (so I can show errors without reloading the page), but I've run into a problem. I know why it is, because AJAX is not synchronous, but I just can't figure out how to do it.
In my code the script I'm making the call to returns "valid" or "invalid". If the return is "valid", I want to submit the form, if not, show an error message. Here is a simplified version:
$("#my_form").submit( function () { some_value = "username" $.post(script_location, {data : some_value}, function (data) { response = data
[Code]...
This obviously does not work because code is executed quickly one after another and the variable "response" is not yet set when the execution gets to the if statement, since it is set sometime later, asynchronously.
I looked into using functions, callbacks, but nothing seems to work properly, I always run into the same issue. This is probably really simple, i just a complete dunce, please do let me know what is the standard way of doing this properly.
I am setting up a text search with 3 search buttons to allow 3 different searches from the one text box. Each search has different values for the 2 hidden elements. So far I've got the 3 submit buttons working with the below code but I can't figure how to get the hidden values to be inserted. For each of the 3 different submits I need to tell javascript what the 2 hidden values are.
<SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> function OnSubmitForm() { if(document.pressed == 'questions') {
