Ajax :: Retrieve A Password Hint From A Database?

Nov 16, 2009

I have an ajax script that I would like to use to retrieve a password hint from a database.Both the ajax script and the php retrieval script are stored on the same domain (we'll call it domain1.com), but the ajax script runs on another domain (domain2.com).All the scripts are working fine, individually, but when I try to integrate them, I'm getting a ready state of 4, but an HTTP status of 0. I've traced the code flow and the retrieval script is being called by the ajax script OK and it's echoing all the right stuff, but it's just not getting back to calling ajax routine.

I've read that an ajax routine can only call a script that resides on the same domain that it runs on. Is this correct and, if so, does anyone know of a work around, because I really need to be able to store the ajax script on domain1 and run it on domain2?why I'm getting an HTTP status of 0, when all the individual components are working fine?

JQuery :: Retrieve And Display Image From Database?

May 27, 2009

I have a MySQL database with a table where I store images (the file name, the mimetype of every file and the binary data in a BLOB plus a unique ID). Now what I'd like to achieve is to load an image from the database using AJAX and the POST method. Viewing a specific image using the GET method is quite simple, I just set the SRC attribute of an <img /> HTML tag to link to the PHP file and set the correct GET variables, there's no AJAX needed for that.I click a button or something, and 'behind the scenes' PHP is retrieving an image from the MySQL database, depending on the unique ID that was provided by AJAX through the POST method. AJAX uses the returned data to fill an element somewhere in the document, and that would be the freshly-loaded image.

Alright here's some code:

//PHP retrieving an image:
$returnImageQuery = "SELECT imageName, mimetype, imageBinaryData FROM imageTable WHERE ID = $_POST['someID']";
$return = mysql_query($returnImageQuery );

Newline - Does Not Working After Retrieve A Record That Contains Square Symbol In The Database?

Dec 10, 2009

my javascript does not working after I retrieve a record that contains square symbol in the database. The square symbol should be a newline in a textarea. This is how the record "looks" in the table: [URL]

I am inserting the record using ASP and the value with square symbol is the value from a textarea with newline/enter. After that I retrieve the value using ASP and pass it to javascript and then the page is not working. If I retrieve other record which contain no square symbol then the script is working.

I'm trying to use AJAX to load user's profile through a drop-down list on selected user. There are 3 seperate files:

1) view_info.php
2) selectuser.js
3) getuser.php

I tested and found that the value $q did pass from view_info -> selectuser.js -> getuser.php, and value changes correctly as i select different user from the drop-down list. Problem is, it simply can't fetch data from my database using the value $q. I tried debugging it for 3 hours already and is totally out of idea whats wrong with the script. i'm new to AJAX, this is my first script..

Ajax :: Email / Password Entered But Submit Button Display Nothing

Jan 31, 2010

I have four pages.two html, one js and one php. First page is loginTab.html. There is a tab called "Tab One" when user clicks on it there is a script inside this html page which calls function and loads an external login.html form using ajax. in login.html there is a form and include external js code for ajax functions. What it does is when the user enters email and password and clicks submit then it triggers another ajax function which send a query to php file and compare those variables there with mysql db and returns the message to a div which is in login.html. The problem here is when I enter email and password and clicks on submit button it does not display anything. I am providing all of my code below

JQuery :: Retrieve Results From A Ajax Call ($.post)

Mar 25, 2010

I am trying to use a $.post call in jQuery to check a user's credentials before submitting a form (so I can show errors without reloading the page), but I've run into a problem. I know why it is, because AJAX is not synchronous, but I just can't figure out how to do it.

In my code the script I'm making the call to returns "valid" or "invalid". If the return is "valid", I want to submit the form, if not, show an error message. Here is a simplified version:

$("#my_form").submit( function () {
some_value = "username"
$.post(script_location, {data : some_value}, function (data) {
response = data

[Code]...

This obviously does not work because code is executed quickly one after another and the variable "response" is not yet set when the execution gets to the if statement, since it is set sometime later, asynchronously.

I looked into using functions, callbacks, but nothing seems to work properly, I always run into the same issue. This is probably really simple, i just a complete dunce, please do let me know what is the standard way of doing this properly.

2 Password Boxes On Same Page Using JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator

Apr 28, 2010

I'm having trouble getting two password boxes to work on the same page, which I created using the JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator [URL].

I've used the code that this generator produces, with some modifications as given by cheesebagpipe [URL]. These changes enable the user to press the keyboard's enter key to submit the password (as an alternative to clicking the submit button), and will also refocus the text box and select the text in it if the user enters the wrong password.

The code works fine on pages with just one box (e.g. [URL]), but what changes are needed to make two work on the same page? (I'm new to web design and clueless when it comes to JavaScript, which I know isn't the most secure method of password protection, but will do for now).

At the moment, on pages with two boxes (e.g. [URL]), neither of the boxes work; this appears in the address bar instead: [URL] ('help!'=whatever has been entered in the text box).

The full code for both boxes is given below.

<div id="passwordBoxes">
<div id="password2">
<form name="password1" onsubmit="submitentry();return false;">
<span class="WhiteLogin">Keyboard classes login</span>
