Im opening an excel worksheet and adding data to it using Javascript ActiveX Excel Object as below
var Excel,Book;
Excel = new ActiveXObject("Excel.Application");
Book = Excel.Workbooks.Open("c:/example.xls");
var excel_sheet = Book.Worksheets("Sheet1");
[code]....
In the above code the column A in excel worksheet will have a unique value.I need to delete the entire row matching the value in column A and shift the rest of the rows up using this Javascript ActiveX Excel Object.
I load data to a div dynamically $.get(test.php, { cmd: cmd, id: id},function(data){$('#files '').html(data);});
The retrieveddatais in a table and looks like this
test.php
<table class="files_table">
<tr eID='1'>
<td> Content # 1</td>

I am trying to use a $.post call in jQuery to check a user's credentials before submitting a form (so I can show errors without reloading the page), but I've run into a problem. I know why it is, because AJAX is not synchronous, but I just can't figure out how to do it.
In my code the script I'm making the call to returns "valid" or "invalid". If the return is "valid", I want to submit the form, if not, show an error message. Here is a simplified version:
$("#my_form").submit( function () {
some_value = "username"
$.post(script_location, {data : some_value}, function (data) {
response = data
[Code]...
This obviously does not work because code is executed quickly one after another and the variable "response" is not yet set when the execution gets to the if statement, since it is set sometime later, asynchronously.
I looked into using functions, callbacks, but nothing seems to work properly, I always run into the same issue. This is probably really simple, i just a complete dunce, please do let me know what is the standard way of doing this properly.
I have a web application that has a few div tags in the base index.html and calls a java app for the output to the div tags. All is working ok, except when I try to format a ms-excel document as output from the java (to the div tag). If I invoke the java app directly in a web browser, the excel popup window comes up and my output goes to an excel document. However, if I invoke the java app (using Ajax request/response) I get the output to the div tag and the excel popup does not come up. Is this something special/different I need to do when using a div tag/Ajax?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCan I use the XMLHttpRequest object to call a url which would generate a PDF and then display it to the screen?
I'm new to AJAX and I'm very interested in using it to asychronously bring back documents with a content-type that IS NOT text/plain or text/html (like a PDF or Excel document) and then display that document to the screen. I have a web application that dynamically generates PDF and Excel documents. A user may have to wait a minute for the new doc to be created and displayed to the user. I want to put an animated notice saying the doc is being generated similar to what you see when you execute a search on a search engine. I've tried using animated gifs (with frames, etc.) but they don't work. As soon as a request is sent for the PDF, the browser halts the gif in IE. If I could instead call the URL that will produce the PDF asynchronously, then I could display the animated gif and call the PDF at the same time. Once the PDF is generated, I want it to then be displayed to the screen.
I am new to jquery. I am trying to return a string array with two strings back to a jquery ajax call. On success, when I try to retrieve the values, my result is just a string "System.string[]". How do I retrieve the values that I returned from the server in my call back function for success.
"success: function(result, textStatus, XMLHttpRequest) {"
how to retrieve the values of "result"?
so, the pseudo code: - on change of input contents, check to see if two input fields are set - if set, update a third field with "loading..." text and a loading gif - use ajax to send data to a url, and get a calculated json response - update the third field with the calculated response
I know I'm getting the correct response, according to firebug: {"pace":"10:00"}
the code:
$('#run_distance').change(function() {
if ($(this).val() != '' && $('#run_time').val() != '')
{
$('#run_pace').val('Calculating Paceā¦');
[Code].....
how to update the #run_pace input field with the json response.
I'm trying to use AJAX to load user's profile through a drop-down list on selected user. There are 3 seperate files:
1) view_info.php
2) selectuser.js
3) getuser.php
I tested and found that the value $q did pass from view_info -> selectuser.js -> getuser.php, and value changes correctly as i select different user from the drop-down list. Problem is, it simply can't fetch data from my database using the value $q. I tried debugging it for 3 hours already and is totally out of idea whats wrong with the script. i'm new to AJAX, this is my first script..

Anybody have a simple example of retrieving a page via ajax?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ajax script that I would like to use to retrieve a password hint from a database.Both the ajax script and the php retrieval script are stored on the same domain (we'll call it domain1.com), but the ajax script runs on another domain (domain2.com).All the scripts are working fine, individually, but when I try to integrate them, I'm getting a ready state of 4, but an HTTP status of 0. I've traced the code flow and the retrieval script is being called by the ajax script OK and it's echoing all the right stuff, but it's just not getting back to calling ajax routine.
I've read that an ajax routine can only call a script that resides on the same domain that it runs on. Is this correct and, if so, does anyone know of a work around, because I really need to be able to store the ajax script on domain1 and run it on domain2?If not, then can anyone suggest why I'm getting an HTTP status of 0, when all the individual components are working fine?
I am doing a project now i going to use ajax to retrieve coordinate from the json in html and pin the coordinate onto a point on the map using javascript but the problem is i am only able to use one point on the map can tell me what to add in ? or how should i change it with? it will be nice if u can change the code from the below and show me how

To make cross domain calls when json is required (JSONP) is easy
Code:
$.ajax({
url:"testserver.php",
dataType: 'JSONP',
success:function(json){

How would i retrieve multiple (GET) values from a php file using AJAX..
Say i had the following function that ask's for a userID variable - how could i ask for more than one variable instead of just userID? [code]...
I am retrieving an XML document like the following:
<SampleData>
<contentContainer>
<div>HTML goes here</div><div>HTML goes here</div>
</contentContainer>
<moreRecords>1</moreRecords>
</SampleData>
I was using a statement like this to take the content out of the "contentContainer" element and place it into another element:
$('#myDiv').html($(newXML).find("contentContainer").html());
This works great in Firefox, but doesn't in IE. I can use the following in IE using the text method, but that doesn't do what I want:
$('#myDiv').html($(newXML).find("contentContainer").text());
It appears that the html method isn't available with XML. Is there an alternate method I can use to grab a whole chunk of HTML within a portion of my XML document?
I have the basic parsing down no problem - I can read in an XML document and use foreach and find combinations to get to the basic elements I want to get to. The problem I'm running into is that I need to do more sophisticated parsing with multiple foreach statements:
<html><head><script>
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#example').click(function() {
$.get('[URL]', function(data) {
$('#output').empty();
$(data).find('Receipt').each(function() {
var $rec = $(this); .....
I want to loop through all the Receipt elements, find the SaleItem elements, and then display each part of the SaleItem parts.
I am using code like this, that trows error "No transport".

I am trying (although not succeeding) to load a page into a div. I have been tring to set the url property of the document i.e. 'div.document.url' but that does not seem to work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm a greenhorn in SVG and javascripting but I'm learning by doing.
So, here my current problem question :
I have a svg document embedded in another svg document. I whant,
through functions in an external javascript file, manipulate objects
in either the child svg document or the parent document.
How do I get access to elements of the other document ?
Example : I have a document "A" containing X/Y - Axis and included
another svg document "B" with the graphs.
I whant now, as soon as the mouse cursor is over a graph in document
"B" the belonging lable which is located in the parent svg document
"A" to change color or size.
Or I whant the graph in "B" to start blinking as soon as the mouse is
over the lable in "A".
I don't know how cross document borders.
Can anyone give me a short exapmle to get me going?
I have an html file which contains link to 4 reports ( html files
). Instead of letting the user open one link at a time, and then
printing the report , I want to print all the reports with a single
button click, say on pressing a button "Print All" .
I have found out a way, in which the reports can be printed , but
the print dialog box is coming up each time( eg. for 4 reports it is 4
times, and for n documents it would be n number of times ) ; which I
find very irritating . I would rather prefer a single print dialog box
coming up for n number of reports .
I'm having a problem trying to use a single DIV object for a popup menu
when I'm using embedded IFrames. All the IFrames have the same parent
document but I can't make the popup appear inside of each IFrame unless
I appendChild the popup DIV to each individual IFrame document body.
Should I be able to show the popup without having to reparent the popup
object? Are there any tricks to be aware of?
I need to know how to call a function in a different document. At the
moment I've tried onFocus but I'm kinda in over my depth. Perhaps if I tell
you what I want to do you can give me the process and I'll go figure out the
code?
My site is divided into two frames, top frame for navigation, bottom frame
for displaying content (called "top" and "main" respectively).
"top" contains 6 images within 6 seperate anchors, that I use as buttons to
switch between sections, the sections being displayed in "main". When the
mouse is over an image, it changes because I use "OnMouseOver", similarly
for "OnMouseOut".
Here is where I get stuck. I want a different image to be displayed as the
relevant button in "top" depending on which main section is loaded into
"main".
I was hoping to solve this by using "onLoad=" in each of the main pages for
each section, that will call a function in "top.html" to cycle through the
list of images changing the relevant image depending on the content of
"main".
I can see an inherent problem here, I have to make every page (could be
hundreds! - nightmare) call this function.
I was wondering if you could cast some light on a confusing subject. is
there a way which you know of that can search through html documents and
extract selected information, and display that in another (main) html
document?
Is it possible that the z-index property for an iframe doesn't work
when the SRC attribute is linked to a non html document? (i.e. a pdf
document)
That is what I am experiencing. I have a dropdown menu and an iframe
and I want the menu always to be displayed above any object in the
page. When the iframe is empty or it has an html page within, I can
achieve this by setting the z-index property in the menu(div) higher
than the one in the iframe, but when I try to display a pdf document
in the iframe (what I really want to do), the menu is displayed below
the iframe.
I was wondering if it is possible to include a xml structure in your html
document. For example given the below snippet the function "dothis()" will return 0
and "dothat()" will return 1. If I can use xml in html I should be returning 1 for both functions. Code:
