Please dont ask why I need it, but I do, i found tools that needs
installation that provide the same funcitonality. However, I would
like to turn on this feature using a flag in my url. Something like
debug=1.
I am a relatively inexperienced programmer and what I want to do here is to have an onClick for a div that reveals a random hint (one at a time) from a selection of 3 (they are all currently on top of eachother and hidden using body onLoad.)

I'm developing a simple CMS and working on a backend now. I want each, lets say, article to have a slideshow editable through a backend site. I created a list of images loaded using PHP from a MySQL database - they are <img> objects in a single <div>. To each <img> belongs a small <div> containing 3 <a> objects formated as buttons: move up, move down, delete (the order of images does matter). This is how it looks like:
HTML Code:
<img src="pic.jpg" id="o1" alt="" style="display: block">
<div class="photoMenu" id="pm1" style="display: block">

I have an ajax script that I would like to use to retrieve a password hint from a database.Both the ajax script and the php retrieval script are stored on the same domain (we'll call it domain1.com), but the ajax script runs on another domain (domain2.com).All the scripts are working fine, individually, but when I try to integrate them, I'm getting a ready state of 4, but an HTTP status of 0. I've traced the code flow and the retrieval script is being called by the ajax script OK and it's echoing all the right stuff, but it's just not getting back to calling ajax routine.
I've read that an ajax routine can only call a script that resides on the same domain that it runs on. Is this correct and, if so, does anyone know of a work around, because I really need to be able to store the ajax script on domain1 and run it on domain2?If not, then can anyone suggest why I'm getting an HTTP status of 0, when all the individual components are working fine?
I got this code from w3schools and I want to alter it for my needs. However I can not get the basic example to work. I have repeatedly cross checked it and can't see any error. I wonder if anyone can spot what I am doing wrong. code...

So i've written up the code to do a lightbox esque overlay image gallery. everything is working smooth and fine. The only concern is that I have the following:
lets say that I have a page that has multiple galleries. Obviously I would have to make each literal array with the gallery data different names, ex:
var _gallery1 = {
'images': [
{ 'id' : 1, 'src' : "" }
]
[Code]....
obviously "galVariable" would be undefined... as i'm trying to get "_gallery2.images" but trying to use "galVariable" to point to "_gallery2"
I'm familiar with solving a problem like this in PHP, not so much javascript. is there a JS function that can be used to ensure that it's using whatever "galVariable" equals to, and then that array's content is? Or is there a different way to go on about this.
I have this code which shows a slidebar, adjusting it shows a number, 0-100 depending on where the bar is. Is there anything I can do to set the width of the slider, or replace the slider with a graphic of my choice. Code:

I am making a menu so that when you click a TR, you will have more options appear below it. There is no anchor or anything to change the mouse pointer. How exactly would I achieve this, either through JavaScript or CSS..?

I am trying to change both, the background color and the mouse pointer to hand on the mouseover event. Am using this to change the background color:

How and I add the "change pointer to hand" on this as well?
I am trying to redevelop firefox addon, to give it more funcionality. I found JS file where all the functions are and started to edit it.
What I want to achieve is to get target of an anchor under mouse pointer (when mouse pointer is over anchor, I right click and call addon from context menu).
For example when I have anchor which HTML code is:
<a href="somewehere.com/place">place</a>
when I right click on this code and call my addon I would like to alert its href (somewehere.com/place)
I wrote a function:
function ff()
{
var current_target=this.href;
alert(current_target);
}
but it gives me udefined on alert

in moz/nn, this errorsvar el = document.getElementById;
why?
pointers to core classes and/or singletons seem fine; this works for examplevar ord = String.fromCharCode;
alert(ord(100));
take a look at: [URL] i have an included .js file called fader.js which controls the fading panels at the top of the page. on line 84 of fader.js is a function called setMouseOverHandlers(). it sets it so that when you over over the current panel it does 3 things:
1) pauses the timer
2) replaces the navigation image with the paused state image
3) changes the cursor to a pointer.
the problem is with item#3... i cant figure out why i cant get it to give me the pointer cursor... all the other stuff seems to be working.

I have a JavaScript routine that runs on a timer and updates the position of a
background image using the CSS background-position property. In Internet
Explorer, it changes the mouse pointer to an hourglass when it refreshes the
screen, and this is really annoying since it happens on the timer, about every
100 milliseconds or so. Is there anything I can do about this?
I'm making a webpage for a little embedded device with a touch screen. I don't want the mouse pointer to be visible until the user clicks on a link in which case the mouse pointer should change to an hour glass until the new page is displayed (the device is rather slow so the user needs to get some feedback while waiting). code...
This properly hides the cursor after the first page is loaded but it doesn't display the hour glass when I click on the link. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Is it possible with jQuery, or JavaScript for that matter, to trap the mouse in a div or other tag so that it can only move around in it. I'd like this for a modal window so thta the user knows that they must do something in the window first before carrying on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a link with a return false;I have the style (cursor: pointer) set in the CSS and also triedsetting it in Javascript.When I click on the link, the hand cursor goes to the default arrow.(I'm guessing it's the browsers default behavior to change it back tothe arrow when a link is clicked.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out how to do this via Javascript.
Lets say I have an array like so:
var myArray = [11, 33, 44, 23, 32, 43];
var finalArray = new Array();
And I have the following variables
var lastNumber = 33;
var getNext = 2;
I want to use the lastNumber for a starting point in the array and then based on getNext, grab the next x numbers that getNext specifies and shove into finalArray.
That case moves forward in the array.
Second case would be the opposite, get the previous x numbers based on getPrevious in the array. So I'd start at lastNumber and then grab x numbers before it based on getPrevious.
var lastNumber = 33;
var getPrevious = 2;
I'm not sure if you can traverse backwards in JavaScript. But more importantly I'm not sure how to point to lets say 33. How can I do myArray[1] essentially based on I'm pointing to 33 and then how can I grab the next x in myArray ?
I would like to change cursor to pointer when mouse is over li element and it works until mouse gets over input or label element. I want to have pointer alse when mouse is over label or input in li elment.

How would I supply the PHP script with the x/y parameters of where the user clicked? The PHP will do the rest.
I would want to show a div (the information about the song) when the visitor hover on a cover art on a radio website but this div overlap the cover art with an opacity of 0.7
You can see an example here: [url]
The problem is that when the information div appears, the mouse pointer isn't on the cover art div anymore for the navigator so the information div disappears, and so on... resulting in a flash effect.
How can I do this without the flash effect?
