AJAX :: File Uploading - Passes Form Field Values To A PHP Script Which In Turn Saves Data To My Database
Nov 24, 2011
I have an ajax function which passes form field values to a PHP script which in turn saves the data to my database. all works great.
I now need to add a file input to my form and pass the file upload ot the same PHP script.
I have read an article [url] which explains how to do this but this would suggest it is a completely separate function.
My question is, is there anyway I can expand my existing function (below) to inlude the file upload process to save having 2 functions doing the same process?
I want to build-up ajax based friends system. though i no nothing about ajax (would like to learn but) actually i have form where user can add his friend. on very next page of this page he/she can see what he/she is entered and where
they should probably see the add and remove button(which i want to build up using ajax)
how to start for this? till now i have code where user can write his friend name and to the next page he/she can see the value he has written. on submit button it all goes in to database. means i have devloped php form for this.
I'm writing script using AJAX and PHP to upload files. I'm trying to create progress bar to show how many bytes have been already uploaded to server.
Can I get the total file size (using JS) before sending it to server or immediately after start sending it?
And how to obtain amount o bytes that have been already transfered to server using JS? I know how to do it in PHP (XMLHttpRequest to php file that counts temporary file size), but is it possible in JS?
i am making a program in a JSP. i have used some java script code in this program.by this program i can find out the result for between years for any class.i have three combo box for class_name, from_year, to_year. for class_name, Its value is 1 to 12. when i select class 11 or 12, an combox appear for subject having values Arts,in database for class 1 to 10 having subject values is AllSubject. and for class 11 or 12 having subject values arts, commerce and science.my problem how i make the query which send for class 1 to 10 , assume subject values is all and for class 11 or 12 subject values arts, commerce and science with others combox values.combox box for subject remain hide when i select class 1 to 10. but if i select class 11 or 12 then value for subject is Arts, Commerce and Science. how i make query from database base on the subject.
I would like to use jQuery to prepopulate a form - ie make a call to a php program to get data from a database and pre-populatea form with appropriate data for the user. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some examples on the simplest way to do this?
i have created text fields dynamically by clicking a button now problem is that i want to save the value of these text field into database. i m using java script with PHP's framework codeigniter. the code is as follows
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
i'm busy making a site for a audiovisual company and i'm stuck at the CMS system by adding pictures to a project page. Adding one single photo isn't the problem but I want a button to add a new file input field and insert that second (or thirth, fourth etc etc) into a new row in the database.... The script that i'm using right now, clones the input field but doesn't "activates" it.... You can't select a file....
I have a dropdown (picklist) on the page, and when the user selects one of the company names in the list the onChange event fires and kicks in some AJAX to get the company's details from the database. The details are just the various locations of each company.
The way I am doing it now I have a simple div on the page below the picklist and I am using PHP to draw out the entire HTML, including the values sought from the database, and then just using innerHTML on the div to dump the info in there.
But it strikes me this is not really an efficient way to do this. Should I just have the PHP form an XML doc and then use that to populate the form fields?
If so how do I use the DOM to create text fields on the page, and then populate them with the info returned from the DB?
Im having the weirdest problems with my ajax. Now first off i have horrible coding convention!! I have one Ajax.js file which handles all my ajax requests and one ajax.php file which handles retrieving data from a database. The problem I am having is when ever I call a certain method which contains a if statement and runs the respective ajax function, it sometimes evaluates the if statement wrong. The weirdest thing of all is when I use FireFox's firebug and step through the javascript code to see why its evaluating the if statement wrong, it evaluates it correctly.
So basically if I don't step through the javascript code it evaluates the if statement wrong which means one of my variables are not being set in time for it to be used in the if statement. BUT if i step through the code with firebug it evaluates the if statement correctly! Now I have tried this is all the browsers and sometimes it evaluates the if statement correctly and when i keep refreshing the page it will sometimes evaluate the if statement correctly! Now I know this makes no sense, but I'm just as confused! The only reason I can think why this is happening is that one of my variables are not being set in time for the if statement to use it!!
I need to pass user input from a form to one database field. I'm relatively new to JS but the idea I had was to have several form elements and use JS to collect the users input and send all the values through a hidden element. What's happening is the variable names are being sent rather than the values. The code below is only passing to the next page. Limitations: I am editing an intranet site built by a 3rd party so a lot of the files we've been given are encrypted. I cannot change the method to post.
there is a selection of menus on the screen that you can change select different options to show you a price.
issue is as follows; i want to be able to create url's for every product in the database for google adword purposes; for example if they click on the google ad they come direct to the page/selection from the table/drop downs that is what they want. currently we have got as far as creating the below link;
[URL]
this link will take you to the product, but the drop downs from the menus haven't changed, just the price and the quantity.
i need to know of a way of selecting from the database and it be able to change the drop downs from a specific url.
our problem is we need to populate a select option in order of the one we send.
could someone please point me in the right direction for creating an AJAX page that displays "live" data from a mysql database? I need the page to update its self every time data changes in a mysql table.
I managed to send data from the form using php & jquery/ajax. But now I need to be able to load that data back onto the form. Is it somehow possible to use the code I have for sending the data to retrieve the data?
The following form validation script works, currently if one of the five fields are completed, a message appears the remaining field(s) must be completed etc. Although the information the user has inputted in the first field is cleared. How can this information be available, if there is one problem in the form it doesn't make sense that the user must re-input all the information again. I look forward to hearing your response,
i am trying to create a form that where the page will not refresh if the form is submitted specially if the user inputs any errors in the form my problem is i do not know how to send multiple variables using jquery to a php file i saw somewhere that in order to do this you need to concatenate the variables you will be sending this is the code i am using
the jquery successfully sends the variable to the php file the problem is once i insert it into a database all the variables i sent are concatenated for example in the column stud_no once you send the form this is what will be inserted "123123name=asdasd"
I have a form.On the form I have a drop down box that allows the user to select a data set to work with (A or B). The table loads just fine and all is right with the world. No problems there. What I need is for the user to be able to edit the data set and have those changes written directly back to the mySQL database. They also need the option of deleting a record entirely.I know how to do all the database queries, updates, etc. I just don't know how to write the ajax forms to accomplish this.
I want to verify that the data in my form in HTML is already exist in my database if this is true then the form must not be sent. I know this is done in javascript but I can not found the right solution. I would like an illustrative example.
I am uploading text file on html page, that text file lies on desktop and getting updated at every hour. I will keep my html page on server so how will it upload that text file from my desktop ? it is being generated by one cloud sensor .
