AJAX :: Pull Back MYSQL Table
Aug 4, 2010
I am trying to use AJAX to pull back mysql table information. I tried to alter an example I found (w3 schools) where they showed how use a selection table to pull a specific line out of a mysql table, using the "q" (not really sure if the "q" character is important or not). xmlhttp.open("GET","xxxxxxx.php?q="+str,true) I follow what they were doing there, but I want to pull the entire table back not just specific lines. (So I got rid of the Q)
Here is a snipit of HTML. The showdata function is part of the testpull.js code. You click the button and it should run the javascript to pull back the entire table and place it in the "placedata" div section.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html lang="en" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en">

I have a form.On the form I have a drop down box that allows the user to select a data set to work with (A or B). The table loads just fine and all is right with the world. No problems there.What I need is for the user to be able to edit the data set and have those changes written directly back to the mySQL database. They also need the option of deleting a record entirely.I know how to do all the database queries, updates, etc. I just don't know how to write the ajax forms to accomplish this.

I am coming to the end of creating my website, and want to incorporate something like the link shown below:-
[URL]
You can see here that there is a large image and 3 smaller images, and the user can hover over the image to zoom into it.
My website is currently at this stage, see below:-
[URL]
As you can see i have not yet incorprated the image zoom.
The images are being pulled from a database so i would want to be able to click on the different thumbnails and fill the large image box with the selected image, and also have the option to hover over to zoom..

I have some form fields that the user can either type in or he can check a checkbox so that MySQL data for an option selected from a dynamically generated (PHP/MySQL) select menu is filled in. How can this be implemented? I have the code for the select menu.

For the first time in a long time, I've encountered a project with a single image that has many regions.Each region is a polygon, and will bind to a unique rollover event. That rollover event will pull back data for each region.I've thought of using a hidden image in a canvas with a black background, and a different color foreground for each region. Then, mapping the color the proper region data on the backend.I've thought of passing a huge Javascript object with keys that relate to a position in the image, and values that define the region data.Initially, I dismissed the idea of a good, old-fashioned image map, in an attempt to find something sleeker and sexier. But perhaps this is the best solution?

I'm trying to find out how you would pull in specific elements from a HTML file using AJAX.
For example, my AJAX script takes in the URL of the HTML page I want to grab content from (this HTML page is on my server so there are no cross-platform security issues) and it pulls in the HTML document as a string of text rather than a XML/DOM document.
I want to be able to grab a DIV element with a specific ID and pull in all the content from that DIV element.
I know that JavaScript libraries have the ability to do this, but I'm not looking to use a library, I want to use my own Js code. For example this can be done using jQuery's load() method but again I'm looking to implement this with *home-grown* Js code and not have reliance on a Js library for this one aspect of my project.

we have product pages; example page: [URL]
there is a selection of menus on the screen that you can change select different options to show you a price.
issue is as follows; i want to be able to create url's for every product in the database for google adword purposes; for example if they click on the google ad they come direct to the page/selection from the table/drop downs that is what they want. currently we have got as far as creating the below link;
[URL]
this link will take you to the product, but the drop downs from the menus haven't changed, just the price and the quantity.
i need to know of a way of selecting from the database and it be able to change the drop downs from a specific url.
our problem is we need to populate a select option in order of the one we send.

I'm dynamically outputting the contents of a MySQL table using Python, to a HTML table, which users view (obviously) through a web browser. It looks great, but the problem is that I'd like users to be able to update these values. For example, I have the current value of certain fields in text boxes. I'd like users to be able to change those values, then hit a submit button or similar (ideally on-the-fly) to update the dB. I imagine javascript will need to pass values to a Python script, but I don't know what the best way to go about this is.
# Python code embedded in a .psp file
cursor = db.cursor()
cursor.execute("SELECT from_name, from_address, project, orb_proj, app, tier, environment,

Firstly this isnt a double post, I stupidly posted in the Java forum not the java script forum. Im trying to create a dynamic table based on the selections of multiple lists as per here Screen Shot
A user would select thier choices from the various lists and then add them to a table - this is where my question comes in. How do I achieve creating a table which will grow depending on how many additions a user adds?
Hope I make sense, Im trying to get my head around this.

I am looking for JQuery script to edit mysql table. I am sure something should be published, but I don't know where to search. I need something very simple to install and configure. The idea is to have a form field on a page, where all columns of table would be placed. Every mysql column should be on separate line and there should be a save button next to it. So if I edit a column, then I would just press Save button, and the request to save actual value would be send to server. No page reload. I would continue editing and saving all columns and when I would be at bottom of page, then I would press the Next button, and next mysql row would be loaded to the form field.

I would like to be able to generate a table from which I can easily edit the contents of a mySQL database (similar to phpMyAdmin.) In that table I would like to have a button that will open a pop-up, allowing me to edit - and maintain formatting such as apostrophes and line breaks - a long description field. That popup will then populate a hidden input field on its parent with the modified description.
I've got the pop-up opening and its fields are populated using php's GET function (see line 11). The special characters, particularly carriage returns, are messing me up; I can remove them using php's str_replace, but I want to retain them for formatting.

I am not a javascript programmer, however are checking as I would like to investigate if I can do following:
I have a calculator that check the price for the properties for a choosen date, I use php and mysql to get the result and the result are displayed on the same page refreshing the page using this in the form: action="<?=$_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME']?>#formdestination">
I know you can print the result using ajax or other javascripts to do this without having to refresh the page and jump to the result.
Was doing a research and I quckly found this link:[URL]..It does not look so complicated, however as I can see the form is done in javascript so I suppose if you have javascript disabled you cant use the calculator.
I would like to have a non javascript solution with the way I am doing it to work if javascript is disabled. An exampel of the calculator can be viewed on this link for exampel:[URL]..

Ajax and jQuery is something I'm new to, but PHP, Javascript, and MySQL I'm pretty well seasoned with.For starters, I want to create a simple form where there are these fields:Name (text field)E-mail (text feld)Zip Code (text field)Cell Phone Number (text field)Phone Carrier (dropdown menu)Thing is, I want to check the database to see if an e-mail address has already been entered. I'd like for that to happen after they enter the email address and tab or click out of the e-mail text field. For instance, after they enter an e-mail address and tab to the Zip Code field, the script queries the database to see if that e-mail exists already. If it does, it notifies the user and greys out the submit button. If not, they're allowed to finish filling the form out and submit. It'll be a huge time saver if this Ajax script is in place.

I am attempting to create a profile page with PHP utilizing AJAX technologies as well. I need profile data to auto-refresh on the page when a change is made in the database but every 15-30 seconds intervals are fine too. I would really like to use AJAX/PHP for this because I think it will be good for me to know and learn.
I have checked the internet for this and all of the examples show a form select/combobox where you select a "User" and then it populates the information automatically in a div below.
But... I need AJAX or PHP to READ THE VARIABLE FROM THE URL instead of a form(Combobox) and ultimately refresh the data on the page with the results from the DB query in the php file.

This form retrieves results from a mysql database. It works fine but when I click submit it shows the result only for a second. When I hold down submit the result stays there. How do I get the result to stay on the screen after I hit submit? Even better how do I get it to spit out results without having to hit a submit button or press enter?

I'm using AJAX for all the updates to the web site I'm building and it works very well. But now I face the need to:
1) Upload a file (an image or video) to a folder in the server.
2) Insert a row in MySQL with the name of the file plus some other information (year and a comment).
The user would upload the file and fill in the information in the same window, and should have a single message (if possible) saying that the file was added or not (meaning both the upload and the insert).I have been doing some googling and found information as how to simulate and AJAX upload, since it seems AJAX does not support file uploads (hope I'm wrong). This is what I found: [URL]
So following that example I could upload the file, and I'd have all the information from the form, in the PHP, and I could synchronize the upload and the insert, but then I can't figure out how to send the OK from the PHP to a Javascript (i guess) to update the html and display the message in the web site.
