Ajax :: Form And Call Integration - Insert Page Which Inserts The Data Into The Table

Oct 6, 2010

I have a form which goes to my insert page which inserts the data into the table. Except I didn't want to do a redirect to another page so I thought I would do an Ajax call. Both pages work until I change it to an ajax call.

I am pretty certain that it is because I took out the <form action="insert.php"> because otherwise the page would redirect but if that is the case I don't know my way around it and if it isn't the problem I'm not sure what is.

But here is my code:

Passing Data Back And Forth With A ASP.NET IFrame

Jul 23, 2005

I'm trying to communicate between a parent document that is controlled
through pure Javascript with an embedded IFrame containing an ASP.NET
form. I can quite easily pass data into hidden fields in the IFrame and
submit the form to pass data to the ASP.NET application.

Now the tricky part! (at least for me, probably not for everyone
else!), how can I set a field in the ASP.NET page (using ASP.NET during
a postback), which I can get the value of within the parent Javascript
controlled page?

JQuery :: Stop Browser From Caching Dynami HTML Created From AJAX Call

May 12, 2010

I'm not having this issue with Mozilla Firefox, but it seems that the results of the code below are being cached in EI 8. When the browser makes another asynchronous call to the server with different results from the database, those results are not being displaying on the wepage. How do I fix this problem. As I mentioned above the code works fine in Mozilla Firefox. The page displays data in EI 8 with no errors five seconds after the page has loaded, but as the information in the database changes, I'm not seeing those changes reflected on the page in 5 second intervals. I'm assuming this is a caching issue, if so how do I fix it.

JQuery :: No Data Being Returned From AJAX Call

Jun 3, 2010

I am currently using $.ajax to post to a Perl file that queries a webservice and returns XML. Running the Perl via command line confirms that XML is being returned with Content-Type: application/xml. However, regardless if I set the dataType parameter to "xml", "XML" or just use jQuery's intelligent guess, it appears that I am not getting any data returned to my function at all.

I've tried using the full $.ajax notation and the simplified $.get notation as follows:

and:

I have also tried using JQuery to perform a "GET" directly to the webservice which returns XML by default and still I get no data returned to my function.

Although I doubt it's browser-related, I have confirmed this in both Chrome (5.0.375) and Firefox (3.6.3).

JQuery :: Updating Table Row After Ajax Call

Jun 6, 2011

I am (finally) successfully calling and running a php script using $.ajax() and now I need to update a table row as a result of that. In the ajax I have these variables for the updated row: docID, docName, docDescription. Since the docID is used elsewhere on the page, I'll need to start with the table id, which is #docsTable.

The rows that I need to update look like this:
<tr bgcolor="#EFE5D3" style="font-weight: bold;">
<td width="25px"><a class="docEditLink" name="33" href="#">Edit</a></td>
<td width="20px"><input type="checkbox" name="removeDocs[]" value="33" /></td>
<td>Document Name</td>
<td>Document Description</td></tr>

The name attribute is the docID, so that is unique within that table, for that document. So, my question is, how can I build a selector that will allow me to change the 3rd and 4th <td> tags with document name and document description, respectively?

JQuery :: Form Xml Data To Post In Ajax Call ?

Apr 18, 2010

I tried to marshal my data as follows:

But the ajax call does not appear to transfer the xml data to the server even though the xmlhttprequest call appears ok in Chrome's developer tool console.

I'm wondering whether I'm forming the xml formatted data correctly.

AttachEvent - Send Data Back To The Parent Page To Create New Table Rows

Jan 13, 2009

A page I'm working on lets users open a new window, which in turn lets them send data back to the parent page to create new table rows, cells, links, etc. One of the links created is "delete", so it should delete the row that the delete link belongs to when clicked on. I can do this no problem in ff using the setAttribute('onclick',onClickEvent), but can't do this in IE. I'll show some code to make this easier to understand....

AJAX :: Pull Back MYSQL Table

Aug 4, 2010

I am trying to use AJAX to pull back mysql table information. I tried to alter an example I found (w3 schools) where they showed how use a selection table to pull a specific line out of a mysql table, using the "q" (not really sure if the "q" character is important or not). xmlhttp.open("GET","xxxxxxx.php?q="+str,true) I follow what they were doing there, but I want to pull the entire table back not just specific lines. (So I got rid of the Q)

Here is a snipit of HTML. The showdata function is part of the testpull.js code. You click the button and it should run the javascript to pull back the entire table and place it in the "placedata" div section.
