I am trying to get some data sent as an array, but it keeps converting it to a sting.

The script below works, but only returns one headline/url from the html list.I am coming from a procedural background and know there must be a better way to pass all the urls and headlines (the link text) to my PHP script, which populates my database, but even after reading 'Jquery in Action' I am flummoxed.how to attack this problem? The .each portion of my script does not seem to work as I expect it to. I have also tried append, which would seem to be a solution ... really all I need is the "which" value from the url, so passing a simple array of those values to PHP would suffice.
<SCRIPT>
$("#latest-news button").click(function () {
$.each(function()[code]....
I have been tearing my hair out with this for the past 12 or so hours and am no closer to a solution than when I began.
I have a jquery function to dynamically create <li> tags for an unordered list:
$(function() {
var idealist = $('#idealist');
$('.checklist').click(function(event){
item = '';
[Code].....
This is working fine. The problem is I need to somehow pull the ids from each <li> tag into a string or an array that can be made available somehow to php code for further processing. I can create the string or array within my jquery function but can't figure out how to make that available to php.
I want to POST data to my personal website[code]...
If i run the code from my localhost it doesn't return anything
Do i need to encode my data send through AJAX post? Ex.
var name = $("input#name").val();
var dataString = 'name='+ name;
///////////////////////////////////////////////
$.ajax({
[Code]....
I got this code that dealing with ajax..Basically the ajax code is to get the data from the html element and insert it to the database.
this is ajax and the html code ...
The data is a serilaized form that "alerts" correctly with all the data using this
[code]....
The alert gives me a string like product=p1&qty=1&product=p2&qty=2 But when I try to php echo out the results on basket-calc.php I get an "empty" array [code]...
Note: answers along the lines of 'use jquery' or 'use (insert wellknown framework)' is not helpful.Frameworks such as jquery includes alot of extra code which is not nessary at all for what I am doing. 'But, you can include one from Google', yes that may be the case, but I prefer to keep to my own code. With that in mind, lets proceed to the problem.
I have an ajax call which doesn't pass POST vars through on IE7/IE8, but only on odd occasions. It appears to be extremely random and the majority of the time it does work. I am had a look at jquery and cannot see much difference in the way it works compared to this custom one.

So I'm making a "wiper blade application guide." I've got a form that starts out talking to my mysql database and grabs all of the makes. The user chooses a make. This calls a function that takes the value of the make and shoots it over to my database and returns all of the models of that make and populates the model dropdown box. Then they choose a model which does the same thing as the last one except it returns years. What is different is that my database has a startYear row and an endYear row which I am sticking together with a '-'. Then the user chooses a year which has to send make, model, and year (or at least model and year) over to the database query. I've managed to get it to send all of the values via an array but I can't figure out how to get them back on the php side.
Here is the code I've got.
index.php
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "[URL]">
<html xmlns="[URL]">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<link href="template.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
function get_models() {
var make = $("#make").val();
$.ajax({ url: "getModels.php", global: false, type: "GET", async: false, dataType: "html", data: "make="+make,
success: function (response) { .....
Here is a link to see it in action [URL].
I want to post some HTML (contained in a div on the page) data using jQuery using $.ajax() method. But it is not working.

The server i'm trying to post data to in an ajax call expects data in xml format, including a particular attribute value. I have to use Chrome browser which does not support the XML Class (e4x).
I tried to marshal my data as follows:
But the ajax call does not appear to transfer the xml data to the server even though the xmlhttprequest call appears ok in Chrome's developer tool console.
I'm wondering whether I'm forming the xml formatted data correctly.
function ShowAvailability() {

So I'm currently working on a ASP.NET Webforms site and I've run in to a small problem. On my .cs file I have the following Webmethod
[WebMethod]
public static string IsJobEditable(int jobid){
try{
string isEditable = "false";
JobsBLL jbl = new JobsBLL();
int jobStatusId = jbl.GetJobStatusId(jobid);
//If the jobs is either waiting or being edited it is
okay to edit it
if(jobStatusId ==
Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Waiting) || jobStatusId ==
Convert.ToInt32(ConstantsUtil.JobStatus.Edit)){
isEditable = "true";
}return isEditable;
}catch (Exception ex){
throw ex;
}}
This function in this case will ALWAYS return TRUE as a string. On Aspx page I have the following
$(function () {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "Coordination.aspx/IsJobEditable",
data: "{jobid:" + jobid + "}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "text",
success: function (result) {
alert(result);
//This is written out in the alert {"d":"true"}
I want this in a variable as a string so I can do a check on it before I do some other actions. The format is not a String so I cannot split on it to retrieve the "true" part.
},
error: function (err, result) { alert(err); }
});});
As you can see in the comments the value I get back in the Callback method is in to me a weird format. The type is unknown and I need this value to be able to proceed with my entire method surrounding the small portion of the Javascript. Where to access the result variable / data as a var or anything else that will let me put it into a var (as a string).
I would like to submit a form depending on the success data of an ajax post.
Below is my jquery code; as you see #theform is the main form and before submitting the form I need to check the availability of the the date and time and the room using$.ajax. However it doesn't submit the main form if the date, time and the room is available.
required=["txtCal_Event_CalendarID","txt_TreatmentRoom","txtTreatmentID","txtTreatmentTypeID","datepicker1","datepicker2","timepicker1","timepicker2"];
emptyerror="Please fill out this field.";

I am trying to figure out how to pass the html back from an ajax call

I am having a bit of an issue here. For some reason my ajax POST does not send all the information.The first parameters work fine, the others seem to be lost or something.

how to pass data from ajax to a php page in resonable way(meaning that i don't need to code a single string in some strange way then to decode it.) I have some inputs, radio ecc with names and when i pass them to php with ajax/js i would like to know how that data belongs to, without encoding and decoding if that is possible.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with sending data from a form to a php script with AJAX. To test if it works, I try to send data from the form, print it in the php with "echo", and then put it back in the initial html file.
My Javascript code is:
The function stateChanged, basically says:
The problem is that the response is empty, but I don't know why. I have checked the input data and the postData variable says "firstName="+input (e.g. "firstName=Robert"), so that's not the error.
here's my problem
when my input is: "asdasasd&=adasdasdsad"
at my ajax code:
send("test="+test);
~> output send("test=asdasasd&=adasdasdsad");
omg. so then, what's the htmlspecialchars ( PHP ) in javascript

Over in this thread, someone suggested a solution to an issue I was having when attempting to send multiple values per select box to a php file. You can review my original post here for reference:

The problem is, when I change my form names to be arrays (i.e. age[] vs. age), it broke my Ajax script. I copied the original script from w3schools, and I don't really know much about javascript/Ajax to know what it is that I need to do to fix this.
Here is my Ajax script:
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function showResult(name,age,gender,ethnicity,facility)
{
if (name=="" && age=="" && gender=="" && ethnicity=="" && facility=="")
[Code]....
Now, when I leave my field names without the [], the script works MAHvalously. However, as soon as I add in the [] to the field names, and also update the vars to be age[].value instead of age.value, etc, it breaks.
I'm having a weird problem using ajax. I use ajax to create a input field inside a form.
like this:
Before Ajax script
Code:
After Ajax script
Code:
The Ajax script works perfectly. the problem occurs when I try to send the form with the new field. The form doesn't send the field data to test.php. And more weird is that it works on IE, only on FF the problem occurs. Nothing shows in the Errors Console, and I have the last Firefox version.
