Xfering Control To JS Function At Completion Of <form> Submit
Jul 23, 2005
Is there some way in a <form> tag to transfer control to a JavaScript function after completion of the submit, where the <form> and function are on the same page? I believe ONSUBMIT and similar event handlers can be used to transfer control to a function just before the submit is completed.
But, I'm looking for a way to transfer control afterwards.
can someone please tell me the correct way to use "curl" to complete an online form? I am trying to eventually retrieve my account balance via a cron job that will email me the parsed output of the web page that gets returned from the curl form completion.....
I'm trying to get an upload popup working with the jQuery form plugin[URL].. When I click a link I load a form html from the server and add it to a container div by setting the div's html attribute. I then attach a submit handler to the form so I can call the ajaxSubmit function of the form plugin.
I am submitting a form using an image as the link to a js file. The image calls a js function which checks fields- issuing alerts for errors - if no errors it then submits the form.
I would like to have a final confirm box run from the function before the form is submitted. I guess I would have to use the return statement somehow but I can't see quite how.
I Have form use javascript to do th basic validation , but some how some one can get out of the javascript validation and submit the form why and how to stop it ?
I create a form dynamically with Java Script depending on certain actions a user choose. The end result is a form asking the user to confirm sending one or more SMS message via a message gateway outside of my system. Confirmation will then trigger a funtion with one or more statements like this: [CODE] document.frmSMS.action ="[URL] user=User&password=Password&sender=Sender&SMSText=Friendly Reminder from Joe Bloggs Pty Ltd: You have an outstanding amount of R 4,534.00 that is 135 days ovedue. Please settle to as soon possible.&IsFlash=0&GSM=27826555959"; document.frmSMS.submit(); [ICODE] The target site then responds with either an error code (i.e. -10) or a reference number. The question is - How do I retrieve the error code?
The following (likely far from imperfect code), reports a value of NaN in the j4 display. I suppose the problem is I am not really passing the "checked" value of the radio button via .value ... without having to get this value via html, is there any way I can passed the checked value via html .. maybe with syntax like n4.checked.value or something.. Code:
I'm using the submit and ajax functions to check a form. When the form is submitted the submit event executes and within that event the data (a code the user has to fill in) is sent to the server to check if it's correct. If it is correct, the submit event supposes to return true (so the form submits), if it's incorrect the submit event supposes to return false (so submitting the form cancels).
Here's my code that should do this: $(function(){ var submit = false; $('#login').submit(function(){ $('span.error').fadeOut('slow'); $.ajax({ url: '/ajax/login', type: 'POST', data: 'code=' + $('#code').val(), success: function(response){ if (response != ''){ $('span.error').fadeIn('slow').text(response); submit = false; }else{ submit = true; }}}) return submit; })});
But here's the problem: While jQuery does the ajax request, the script continues. So it will return false - even if the code is validated - because the var submit has been set to false at line 4. When I submit the form again, the form is validated because 'submit' is true (but that's set to true the first time). How can I ensure the submit function waits for the ajax request to finish?
I am trying to get a form to call a javascript function on submit to send an ajax request. The site sits on one server and the php target file on another. I get a status of 0. From what I read, this is because the php file sits on a different server. I do don't believe I can get around the files sitting on different servers.I can set the php file as the form action, but I do not want to redirect, just send a request to the other server to modify some values in a DB. If I can not send an ajax request between servers, I was thinking an alternative might be to set the php file as the form action, run the updates, and then have the page redirect me back. Is there a better way to get around this problem
1. What is the benifit of having the above code with "window.onload" and "for loop" and loop through the forms if I only have ONE form in html?
2. What is this line of code "document.forms[i].onsubmit" saying? Does it mean "Execute function() when submit button within form[i] has been pressed?"
3. function() - Does this empty function mean "run every following function below"??
I have a complicated page with several submit buttons. I don't want to create multiple forms because much of the input is shared and the code is getting very ugly. However I would like to determine which values will be submited.
Here is a simplified example that may better illustrate my question. Or maybe there is a better approach...
<SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> function submitform1() { document.myform.submit(); }
function submitform2() { // logic to submit only name parameter document.myform.submit(); }
function submitform3() { // logic to submit only address parameter document.myform.submit(); } </SCRIPT>
This is a very basic version of what I am trying to do. I have a dynamic list which is set in a table. When clicked, a function is run to set up a new list.. The reason I explain that, is that I need to keep it dynamic.Now for the problem:When I run this page, I have the button made right away, then when clicked it creates the new button. The new button should also run the function to create the new button again, but when I click it, I only receive "error on page".
On my form I have 3 submit buttons which handle different things.I am looking for a way to stop or continue form execution with a confirm box on the third submit button and the third only.I can't use onsubmit because that will trigger on all three buttons.
In the following .submit function, I am attempting to grab the value of the selected option in the facilityCodes dropdown list when I click the submit button and then during the submit function,select the facilityCode again in the dropdown list when the page reloads and then disable the list so that the user cannot change it.However,the situation is when I reload the page after the submit button is clicked the dropdown defaults to the first option and the list is enabled.I apparently am not understanding how.submit works so that I'm selecting the option I'm defining in my code below and then disabling the list AFTER the page reloads due to an error on the page. My question is how can I accomplish this?Here is my code:
$(function() { $("#ARTransferForm").submit(function() { var msgsCount = 0;[code]....
I came across something I'm unfamiliar with -- there's an added check for window.location.href.indexOf("http")==-1 to see if the XMLHttpRequest send() completed, i.e.,
if (page_request.readyState == 4 && (page_request.status==200 || window.location.href.indexOf("http")==-1))
Does anyone know why this is done or which browser this (kludge?) is meant for?
The following will submit the form data to popup by clicking the submit button. I want it will submit the form automatically to the popup, there is no submit button in this page. Basically this page should not show up.
I'm using mailchimps signup box (they don't have a decent forum to ask on) on my website and want to adjust the submit button and change it to a normal link. Here's the button that submit's the form:
How can I make the button call the click event so that the server side method btnExecute_Click() can be called? Also, this button calls a javascript function before server side even.
I have a form frm1 . The form is generated by a "control" that is placed on the page - I have no access to the source to modify the controls. I can access other hidden controls within it by referencing:
ocontainer.frm1.txt1.value;
I would like to insert my own hidden control that can be posted back to to my page so I can do something with it. How can I do this from clientside at runtime?
In HTML documents, named forms may be referred to as named properties of the `` document.forms '' collection, and named form controls may be referred to as named properties of the form's elements collection:
var frm = document.forms["formname"]; var contrl = frm.elements["elementname"];
The (string) value property of such controls can be read directly from the element:-
var value = contrl.value; var value = (+contrl.value); //string to number: see 4.21
One exception is where the control is a SELECT element, and support for older browsers, such as NN4, is required:
var value = contrl.options[contrl.selectedIndex].value;
Another exception is where several controls share the same name, such as radio buttons. These are made available as collections and require additional handling. For more information, see:-
I have a page with many forms that I need to change from a post to an ajax call. That part is working, no problem, but now I want to disable the submit button while it's waiting on the server response and then re-enable it when the response comes back.
I can't figure out what my selector should be to get the submit button of the form that's being submitted. What should I be using instead? Also, if the call errors out, I'd like to just post the form as usual.
I have a php form and it has 3 submit buttons namely "delete" , "update_quantity" and "place_order".They all work fine but I want to build in a check for each one just in case the user click one of the buttons by mistake.So Each one must have a different message like for delete it must be, "Are you sure you want to delete Record nr ......" OK or Cancle. And for update " Are you sure you want to update Quantity to....." OK or Cancle.
