The user enters the title of a movie in the text field. I'd like to mirror that title into a <span> so that users can search other sites based upon that title, gather the information and then put it into the current form on my site.
Code:
<input type="text" name="title" value="" />
<a href="abc.com?title=<span>TEXT FIELD VALUE HERE</span>">search abc.com for this title</a>
Javascript is not my strong point but I have a little problem with a function.
I have ASP code that displays form variables for x number of users. Depending on the radio button they click, I highlite some text in red over another form variable to show that it's mandatory. I use a <span> tag for the text and a Javascript function to change the text color of that user's mandatory field.
My Javascript call passes (i) to show which user I'm talking about but the problem is I don't know how to change that user's text color. Here's my function
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- function ChangeTextColor(num){ membertype_1.style.color='red' memberno_1.style.color='black' lastname_1.style.color='black' }
//--> </script>
As you see, I'm not using the parameter "num" so it only works for the first user. I need to know how to make it dynamic...I've tried
I want to select the contents of a span in jquery. This is the html: <a href="?page=home&action=add&id={$film.film_id}"> <img src="images/shoppingcartButton.png" id="shoppingButton" alt="shoppingcartButton" title="shoppingcartButton"/> <span>{$film.film_id}</span></a>
The jquery I have is: lalala = ($('#shoppingButton span').text()); alert(lalala); But the result is empty.
I have a text field (field1) already displayed on the HTML page. However, there's a link where you can add additional text fields to the page as well. When the link is clicked, the second text field is added successfully (field2), and when the link is clicked again, the third text field (field3) is added successfully. However, the third field does not add itself to the page, and the text for anything greater than a third field also isn't displayed after. This obviously means that my "fields" variable is not working right
I have a php script that lists some items which can be checked or unchecked. Now, I am trying to make a javascript that writes a comment field in a certain "span" - comm_'.$i.', where $i starts from 0 - if the check box is already checked (info retrieved from the database) or if the user checks the check box (when the user unchecks the check box the comment field should disappear). The problem is that I am unable to make it work properly (when I check or uncheck a box it doesn't work at all), I mean it only works for the element above, so if box_1 is checked it can only create the comment field in comm_0.
The error I get is - this is similar to the errors I get when checking and unchecking a check box: Message: 'null' is null or not an object Line: 64 (this would be line comSpc.innerHTML = 'something1';) Char: 4 Code: 0
I am trying to truncate some text within a 'span' in order to create a 'more/less' button to show/hide the additional. I effectively want to turn this:
from the below code how do I pass the contents of the 'username' field to the end of the URL:https://carrierconnect.etdatacenter....&user=usernamewhere I currently have usernameBasically the form works where I fill in the username and password then based on whether the user selects 'customer tracking' or 'web booking' goes to the specific URL
<script type="text/javascript"> function OnSubmitForm() {
I'm working on a project with span's and event handlers.Basically what I need to do is be able to get the text from within a span when the user mouses over.I know how to set up the event handlers, that's all working fine, my issue is the actual extraction of the text. I've tried using .nodeValue and .TEXT_NODE but these keep coming back null.So is there a way to do something like: var text = document.etElementById ("example"). nodeText;and get a string of text?
I am trying to prevent showing a symbol when a user clicks on an edit button.When negative numbers are entered and the edit button is clicked on then it removed the minus sign but keeps the symbol.
I have this script who will set a text to an existing or newly created <span>. When I executed the script, I can see ths <span> element to the source but the text never appear. Here is the last version of this script (the alert box is displayed but the "_message" is never dispalyed to the page):
var _message = response[inputId]; var $field = $(jqn('#'+inputId)); var $span = $(jqn('#'+inputId+'.errors'));
In the following table segment, I have been trying to use DOM techniques to get the text values.For example in this line: (<span id="edit5_oname" >BOBBY</span>), I only want to get BOBBY. What's happing is if I use alert(x[2].innerHTML); it returns <span id="edit5_ownerid">8</span>.I have tryed various techniques like:
I need to build a regular expression where the expression contents are variable.
for example I have a string that i need to search for, but the string can change. If i have a variable called string I need to look at the contents of string otherwise
I was wondering if anyone had come across some javascript that would allow me to have a chart of say 20 music tracks, and be able to move each track up and down the chart using up/down links? I am sure I saw one about 3 years ago.
Consider this: A table with a form around it. Each row of the table is numbered 1 to 20. There will be a form field on each row for Artist, Title, Label, Mix and Genre. There will also be an up and down arrow to move the contents of each row up and down.
I need to create 2 javascript functions. 1 to swap the contents upwards, and one to swap downwards.
The link to go up or down will pass the row number to the function, and the fields that need swapping. The function will then take the values and swap them over.
Is this possible? And will it work cross-browser cross-platform? Any ideas?
As the user types the "start year", I want to fill the "end year" with the same value, keystroke by keystroke. But simply using a keypress eventhandler doesn't do quite what I want, as
fills in "end_year" with the value before the keypress has been added to "start_year".Again, I just want "end_year" to be the same as "start_year" as it's being typed.
I have a php page that has a button on it when clicked shows a div (previously hidden) in the middle of the page this div contains a table with rows.Each row has an image acting as a button and a series of fields that are populated from a database.One of the fields is a quantity box I want to be able to change the value in this box and click on the submit img and have it submit this info (including the altered quantity) back to the php page or to the submit function so that I can then access the values.
I have developed an website with drupal 7.10. I want this should be in bengali language. everything is ok but problem with numerical system. for example: date,time,points etc.
Now I have decided to add java code at the bottom of the theme. so that after loading the page javascript with replace those text. This replacement should be limited to some span not in all document.
What I want to know is if the span is something like 240px in width how can I make it so if the text inside the span tag is to long and puts the text onto a second line how can i make a cut off point in the text to stop the text moving to a new line and adding '...' if the text is to long??
I'm using a form on a page as a vessel for data, rather than to actually submit it. The reason is that the form is submitted to a service at www.rdbhost.com with it's special JS API, so I extract the data from the form manually and then feed the data to the methods from the provided library.
One of the field is a file. Calling ``.val()`` on it simply gives me the file name, but I need the contents.I've looked around, and found a few plugins that would actually send the file, but that's not what I want.
I've got an unordered lists. I need to make the numbers larger (ordered lists numbers) and keep the text in the list at the same size. So what I was assuming I need to do is make the <li> font-size larger (the size I want the unordered list number to be), then wrap the text with a <span> and make the <span> smaller. I'm using a CMS and since the client will be modifying the text in the CMS, I can't exactly tell them to put <span> text, blah, blah</span> in the unordered lists as they won't figure that out. So how would I write the jQuery to wrap the text in the unordered lists with a span? Currently the output is like so:
