JQuery :: $('<span>').text('new Text') Not Working In IE

Aug 5, 2010

Has anyone seen this before..

var myText = 'blah';
$('<span>').text(myText);

The above correctly sets the text of the span to blah in all browsers except IE. The only way I've gotten it to work in IE is...

$('<span>' + myText + '</span>')

Not the worst hack, but all the extra typing is adding up.

JQuery :: Wrapping Text With A Span In An Unordered Lists?

Aug 26, 2009

I've got an unordered lists. I need to make the numbers larger (ordered lists numbers) and keep the text in the list at the same size. So what I was assuming I need to do is make the <li> font-size larger (the size I want the unordered list number to be), then wrap the text with a <span> and make the <span> smaller. I'm using a CMS and since the client will be modifying the text in the CMS, I can't exactly tell them to put <span> text, blah, blah</span> in the unordered lists as they won't figure that out. So how would I write the jQuery to wrap the text in the unordered lists with a span? Currently the output is like so:

<ol>
<li>Item One</li>
<li>Item Two</li>
</ol>

Getting Text From A Span

I'm working on a project with span's and event handlers.Basically what I need to do is be able to get the text from within a span when the user mouses over.I know how to set up the event handlers, that's all working fine, my issue is the actual extraction of the text. I've tried using .nodeValue and .TEXT_NODE but these keep coming back null.So is there a way to do something like: var text = document.etElementById ("example"). nodeText;and get a string of text?

JQuery :: Load And $('span[id*="DT-myid"]').text("newvalue") Doesn't Work?

Oct 11, 2011

I am starting in JQUERY and I experiencing something I don't know if it is normal or it is wrong programmed by me.

Inside a$(document).ready(function(){} I want to load a piece of page which is a form:

$('#C1').load('<anypath>/myfile.php #myID');

C1 is a div like this <div id="C1"></div>

the div myID is well loaded into current page. The problem is that I want to apply this code after load: $('span[id*="DT-myid"]').text("newvalue"). I want to change al span with this id to new value for translations purpose. The problem is that this code is ignored. If I copy the contents of myID into this page and I don't use load then the text function works properly.

JQuery :: Buttonset() Span Not Working Properly With IE7?

Jul 19, 2011

I'm using the lastest version of jquery and I themed a list of checkbox with it. Im IE7 every time a user clicks on the buttonset span(which is pretty much the whole button as far as the users are concerned) the page gets scrolled up about 600pixels up.

This is really not a good thing, especially since those radios are located pretty far down a page with a scrolling bar, can you image the users who want to select 60 options? Having to scroll back down every time? How do I stop this infernal Jquery behavior? I literally use nothing else but this to these my radios:

$(".prettyme br").replaceWith(''); //fix RadioButtonList Bug
$(".prettyme").buttonset();

I really need some help on this, I spent hours trying to fix this.

As of right now I have a code that will work in IE but wont work in FireFox...go figure. Basically what I want to have happen is when you type in an area code it will provide an output in a predetermined area of the page.

For Example:
Input- 512
Output - Austin, TX

The code that I have doesn't work with firefox and I was just wondering if there was a code that would allow that to happen.
