JQuery :: Selecting Contents Of Span - Result Empty
Jul 25, 2010
I want to select the contents of a span in jquery. This is the html:
<a href="?page=home&action=add&id={$film.film_id}">
<img src="images/shoppingcartButton.png"
id="shoppingButton" alt="shoppingcartButton" title="shoppingcartButton"/>
<span>{$film.film_id}</span></a>
The jquery I have is:
lalala = ($('#shoppingButton span').text());
alert(lalala);
But the result is empty.
I need to check if a span is empty but every attempt at doing this has failed. This is in a for loop so it has to be able to change the span its checking.
var ids=new Array('PSN','XBL','xfire','steam','tweet','fbook'); for(i=0;i<=ids.length-1;i++) { if (document.getElementById(ids[i]).innerHTML == '')
[Code]....
Never runs... I have tried a few other things I've found on the internet but they don't see to work either.
I've debugged this and found out the code stops running on this line.
if (document.getElementById(ids[i]).innerHTML == '')
Javascript is not my strong point but I have a little problem with a function.
I have ASP code that displays form variables for x number of users. Depending on the radio button they click, I highlite some text in red over another form variable to show that it's mandatory. I use a <span> tag for the text and a Javascript function to change the text color of that user's mandatory field.
My Javascript call passes (i) to show which user I'm talking about but the problem is I don't know how to change that user's text color. Here's my function
<script language="JavaScript"> <!-- function ChangeTextColor(num){ membertype_1.style.color='red' memberno_1.style.color='black' lastname_1.style.color='black' }
//--> </script>
As you see, I'm not using the parameter "num" so it only works for the first user. I need to know how to make it dynamic...I've tried
The user enters the title of a movie in the text field. I'd like to mirror that title into a <span> so that users can search other sites based upon that title, gather the information and then put it into the current form on my site.
Code: <input type="text" name="title" value="" /> <a href="abc.com?title=<span>TEXT FIELD VALUE HERE</span>">search abc.com for this title</a>
I have triple drop down menu. I want to display the contents of the table based on the third menu selection. The code is in the link [URL]
I know I need to include a onchange function to <select name="genus"> but as you can see I have a <div> already for it. I am confused how to create the function to display the table and also the how to include another div tag.
I have contentEditable="true" on some span tags on my page. The idea is to allow admin users to edit content inline on the page without having to send them to a giant form page. When only using contentEditable="true" it works fantastically. You can click into the span and type away. Now, the admin users want the text to be selected in the span once they click into it or bring focus to it by tabbing. I'm using the following function onclick and onfocus to get this working:
Code: function selectText(el) { var span = $(el); // FIREFOX if (Browser.Engine.gecko) { var div = document.createRange(); div.setStartBefore(span); [Code]...
I am doing a lottery project in which i have 10 textbox and i want to add contents of each textbox and show result in another textbox say 11th textbox.
I am having the fallowing codes below on jsp page.
I want to add contents of textbox from(n50,n51.....n59) and show result in another textbox named (n60)
My question is that the valus stored in textbox is numeric and when i enter the value in any two of the textbox say named (n50 and n51) then the addition of its value must be seen in the result textbox say (n60) here. it does not wait for another textbox value which is left blank. the result of addition should be displayed simelteneously as i enter the value in text box.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script>
[Code].....
what I need is set an image title with given index (1)withvalue of span with given index (1). I tried some laborations with gt(), index(), but there is no success.
I'm looking for javascript to analyze the contents of a textbox and replace the contents with the appropriate date. To make that a little clearer, if the user types 'tomorrow' then when they tab/move onto the next text box the 'tomorrow' text should be replaced with the date for tomorrow in the format dd/mm/yyyy, if the user enters '1 week' then the text should be replaced with the date in one week in the format dd/mm/yyyy etc.
Im currently working on a project with jquery... the thing is.. i need to change the contents of a div named "sub2" with the contents of "pets.html"... i've read some tutorials and i thought the best way to do this is through the use of jquery...
Here's my code:

The code is working ., but when i transfer my codes to netbeans with Tomcat running the code didnt work ...

I have this script who will set a text to an existing or newly created <span>. When I executed the script, I can see ths <span> element to the source but the text never appear. Here is the last version of this script (the alert box is displayed but the "_message" is never dispalyed to the page):
var _message = response[inputId]; var $field = $(jqn('#'+inputId)); var $span = $(jqn('#'+inputId+'.errors'));
I am working with the CUSTOM WIDGET from the DATE PICKER - JQUERY PLUGINI have got everything working fine. The value from the user is now inserted in a <span> element. That's nice, but how do I post that value so I can use it in (like the other form elements) in my form. I rather get it in a textbox. But how do I do that?Below you can see the peace of code that works out the value into a span element. How do I change this so it will be a form (TXT) element.As you noticed I am a Javascript/jQuery beginner.
