View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to setup a password input that fist shows: "Password". When the user selects it (or focuses on it), it clears and becomes a password input. If the person, clears the password and leaves focus (blurs), the word password appears again.I did some research on this first. There is this article that requires creation of two inputs (hide one, show the other). I also read this article.Without confusing everyone, I am trying to do this simple and in a smart way:HTML BODY
<input type="text" id="password" name="password" class="password" value="Password" />
jQuery Script
$(document).ready(function() {

I have an input field for the users name and I have one for their password. Now when they come onto the page I want to have the value for the username filed say "username" and the passwordfield should say "password". Then when the users focusses on the password input the input type should turn password so when they type their password it shows like "*******".

I'm having trouble getting two password boxes to work on the same page, which I created using the JavaScript Kit Encrypted Password Generator [URL].
I've used the code that this generator produces, with some modifications as given by cheesebagpipe [URL]. These changes enable the user to press the keyboard's enter key to submit the password (as an alternative to clicking the submit button), and will also refocus the text box and select the text in it if the user enters the wrong password.
The code works fine on pages with just one box (e.g. [URL]), but what changes are needed to make two work on the same page? (I'm new to web design and clueless when it comes to JavaScript, which I know isn't the most secure method of password protection, but will do for now).
At the moment, on pages with two boxes (e.g. [URL]), neither of the boxes work; this appears in the address bar instead: [URL] ('help!'=whatever has been entered in the text box).
The full code for both boxes is given below.
<div id="passwordBoxes">
<div id="password2">
<form name="password1" onsubmit="submitentry();return false;">

How would you make a password feild and a retype password feild and they have to be the same?
View 15 Replies View RelatedThis is a secure solution for password protection with JavaScript. It works by encrypting the password and the content. Nothing is revealed in the source code, and it cannot be beaten by disabling JavaScript.
The download contains three files:
Protect Content.html lets you generate your own protected content.
Demo.html is a protected document, and as long as it remains unbroken, it's your proof that this software works. You can also use it as a template for your own protected pages.
Demo, with hint.html is another protected document that tells you the password. This is meant to show that the first demo is not a trick or a fake.
I was just wondering how I could change a html text input tpe from text to password on the on click and when the user clicks off it will change back to text just like facebook does.

Here is the script:
$(this).attr('type', "password");
(this).attr('type') = 'password'
neither of these work, am I doing something wrong?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a URL that I intend to load into startup via a shortcut. I need
to have input of email address and password for it not to become a
pest at every startup.
When that is input manually I get a HTML which contains my DNS.
Incidentally that would be nice to have that displayed on the screen.
Both email and password come as
<td><img SRC="/homeparts/login_email.gif" WIDTH="67" HEIGHT="11"
BORDER="0" ALT="Email"></td>
The following line is the one that accepts the input as
<td><input TYPE="text" NAME="username" VALUE="" CLASS="login_box"
SIZE="25">
The question is: Can it be done. The problem is for an elderly chap
accustomed to C and C++ to be able to understand how. So some help
which will make C , Java or Javascript make it do that and possibly
pick off the DNS from the next screen.....
You might know it from several games such as Diablo 2. You have to write down your cd product key in 3 different input boxes, and it varies in length e.g. first box has 4 numbers, second has 3 and last has only 2.
Then when you’re finished writing down your 9 numbers it will automatic change focus to the submit button.
You can do that in JavaScript, if you have an activation code or something else on your webpage, and it's quite simple to actually.
Place this code in your head section on your page:
<script type="text/javascript">
function toUnicode(elmnt,content)
{
if (content.length==elmnt.maxLength)
{
next=elmnt.tabIndex
if (next<document.forms[0].elements.length)
{
document.forms[0].elements[next].focus()
}
}
}
</script>
Place this HTML code in your body:
<form name="form" form methode="post" value="active.asp">
<input size="4" tabindex="1" name="first"
maxlength="4" onkeyup="toUnicode(this,this.value)">
<input size="3" tabindex="2" name="Second"
maxlength="3" onkeyup="toUnicode(this,this.value)">
<input size="2" tabindex="3" name="Third"
maxlength="2" onkeyup="toUnicode(this,this.value)">
<br>
<br>
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"
</form>
I have the following HTML/CSS:
HTML:
<div id="stealth_form">
<form name="stealthme" action="" onSubmit="return
initializeSearch(this);">
<input type='password' name='query' size=16>
</form>
</div>
<div id="search_form">
<form name="searchme" action="" onSubmit="return
initializeSearch(this);">
<input type='text' name='query' size=16>
</form>
</div>
CSS:
#search_form
{
position: absolute;
top: 600px;
left: 210px;
height: 50px;
width: 300px;
background-color: rgb(70,70,70);
visibility: visible;
}
#stealth_form
{
position: absolute;
top: 600px;
left: 210px;
height: 50px;
width: 300px;
background-color: rgb(70,70,70);
visibility: hidden;
}
OK. I use javascript to dynamically set the visibility of #search_form
to 'hidden' and the visibility of #stealth_form to 'visible'. In
mozilla/firefox there is no visual difference. In IE the #stealth_form
input box is 1 pixel wider, and when the change occurs it catches the
users eye and looks strange.
Any ideas / workarounds? I know this is off topic for this group, but
most on this group know an awful lot about HTML / CSS, and I thought it
was worth a shot.
I only want to set the code to alert one when I am out of 'focus' but the alert keeps piling up if I click on the input field and out of 'focus' more than one?

Code JavaScript:
$(document).ready(function(){
$(function() {
$('#test-form-1 *[title]').inputHint();
});
[Code].....
<script>
function randomPassword()
{
chars = "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ1234567890";
pass = "";
for(x=0;x<6;x++)
{
[Code]....
So the page is [url]
If you click on 'Tide' you can see the password prompt appears. But the problem I am having is that even if you press cancel or do the wrong password a few times it still open up the shadow box.
This is the script for the password protection
This is an example of how a working (non shadowbox) version works successfully.

I need to have a simple text input field on a html page. It needs the users to type in either:
And depending on whats entered this will then take them to the corresponding:
Is this possible with javascript?
I need a javascript that will accept the username "frederic" and the
password "ozanam" on my page "member,html" that will allow those who
input this data to access my page "member2.html".
I had a script that did this but when I updated the page on which it
resided I did not keep a copy of the javascript. Code:
I need to validate a password to only allow A-Z, a-z and 0-9. I
thought this would work:
function Validate()
{
var passphrase = document.all.challenge.value;
var re = /[a-zA-Z0-9]/;
if (!re.test(passphrase))
{
alert("Please enter a valid password!");
return false;
}
else
{
return true;
}
}
however if the following is entered 045# - this is accepted a being
valid. What am i doing wrong?
I have a friend who wants to colect email addresses from visitors to his website. He really isn't looking for 'security', but is more interested in collecting emails and simple contact information.
Is there an easy way to have a short form (name, email address, phone number) which collects that info, then sends a password which they can use to log in?
Such as, I enter 'John Doe', 'jdoe@yahoo.com' and 骃-1212', then I get an email (at jdoe@yahoo.com) with a password. The collected info should be either emailed to an admin, or better yet appended to a text file.
