Turning A Regular Input Filed Into A Password Type Field
Aug 13, 2003
I have an input field for the users name and I have one for their password. Now when they come onto the page I want to have the value for the username filed say "username" and the passwordfield should say "password". Then when the users focusses on the password input the input type should turn password so when they type their password it shows like "*******".
I have to change text input type to password input type and i am using jquery script. This script work for FF, Chrome and Safari browser but not worked on ie7, ie8.
Script is as:-
How can i update my script, so that it works cross the browser.
I want to create a input box the says Password inside the box and gets erased when someone clicks inside of it. Then when they type their password it is in asterisk characters. Can anyone tell me what extra scripting I need?
I am trying to setup a password input that fist shows: "Password". When the user selects it (or focuses on it), it clears and becomes a password input. If the person, clears the password and leaves focus (blurs), the word password appears again.I did some research on this first. There is this article that requires creation of two inputs (hide one, show the other). I also read this article.Without confusing everyone, I am trying to do this simple and in a smart way:HTML BODY
So I have to ask some stupid questions and make sure that there is not something wrong in this simple syntax. I am trying to get input field attributes type and tagname by field ID. Heres the code..
Code JavaScript: var type = $('#' + input_id).attr('type'); var tag = $('#' + input_id).attr('tagName');
When I look in firebug I see there is the correct ID in input_id variable and that the input field with that id exists. But for tag and type variables I just get 'undefined' for reason unknown.. syntax is correct or?
I only want to set the code to alert one when I am out of 'focus' but the alert keeps piling up if I click on the input field and out of 'focus' more than one?
I am trying to create a text area input filed for user input, and i want to be able to allow the user to format thier text, just like the ones used in this user forum. I am writing my website in html, php, javascript and css with a MySql database. I am trying to understand how to create such an format-able text area for input.
I would like to be able to print to the screen as you type in an text input field. I'm guessing that you will have onkeypress, but I'm lost after that.
how to copy an input field to an input field using a check box, what I want to do is copy data from an ID that has been populated with data using ajax and then select which data I want to copy depending on the drop down option selected. I can get the drop down box to alert the same data back that I want to copy but I can't display that data inside the input field.
step by step:
1. search for data with ajax and populate ID with data
2. use drop down box to select data to copy and copy it to input field
Tutorial I read
HTML CODE
This is the ID that already has data retrieved using ajax.
I'm working on a web app where a profile is displayed to a user. The profile consists of data pulled from FB and LinkedIn via their respective API's. I'd like to provide the user with the ability to add more detail to the profile. I've scoured the web looking for a way to use Javascript to change an HTML element from a link to a form field but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for.
For example...
Profile:
Education: College Add Major
And when the user clicks the "Add Major" link, it turns into a form field. I'm not much of a front end developer but I'm working alone on this project so I have to wear a few hats.
I was just wondering how I could change a html text input tpe from text to password on the on click and when the user clicks off it will change back to text just like facebook does.
I made this JavaScript that password protects a page. But the password you type in is completely visible! I want it so that the password are those black dots for each letter....
please i want to know if there is a possibility to force the user to type English characters coz i made all my web site in arabic and germany languages i want to force user to type the username and password in English characters
OK. I use javascript to dynamically set the visibility of #search_form to 'hidden' and the visibility of #stealth_form to 'visible'. In mozilla/firefox there is no visual difference. In IE the #stealth_form input box is 1 pixel wider, and when the change occurs it catches the users eye and looks strange.
Any ideas / workarounds? I know this is off topic for this group, but most on this group know an awful lot about HTML / CSS, and I thought it was worth a shot.
I am having a form with two input fields. I want to enter some text in the first input field and then the second field should get the same text. Is there a simple way (maybe a plugin) to do this with jQuery? It would be perfect if I even could output all these input fields values as normal text in <p> or <li> tags.
