If File Is Already In Place On The Page, Do Nothing - Otherwise Call It?

Nov 2, 2010

Two quick posts in my first hour of joining this site -- from what I see it's a great resource, so I'll throw out another question I have.I was looking in the firebug debugger and noticed that my main .js file was somehow being called twice, but I don't see where. There are dozens of files involved in this particular problem, so I think the best way to go about solving it is to test - in run time - if my js file is already in place on the page, do nothing - otherwise call it. This is pseudo that I have monkeying around with but it's not working.

Code:
function checkFile() {
var fileExist = new fileExist();

Keeping Page In Same Place After Form Submission?

<input type="submit" value="Submit" onclick="get_radio_value(); return false;" />

for the submit buttion and that works perfect. I try and use it on questions that use checkboxes and it doesnt work so as a work around I am using the form's action attribute to set it to a link on the page. Here is my form code:

Hole 5 - JS Code Golf - File (when Given A URL) Into Current Page Assuming Wasn't Already Included In The Page

Mar 13, 2011

Based on the lack of responses to the last hole (which I am attributing to one of the following:

a. The hole being too difficult,

b. It being overly time consuming, or

c. People not wanting to do it)

I have decided to take a step back for this hole.

Create a Javascript include function. This function should include a javascript file (when given a URL) into the current page assuming it wasn't already included in the page (either via the include function call or by HTML). If the file is already included the function should just return.

This function should either take a file name/ path to file or a full URL as a parameter. If it is a filename/ path the function should include the file from the base URL of the current site (such as [url]). If it is a full URL just include it.

Make sure you don't allow files to be included multiple times, we don't want that!

I can't find the code controls the location of the list.

Placing <script> Tags In Correct Place Causes The Page To Fail?

Mar 31, 2011

I have placed the <script></script> in the <head></head> tags and the page will not work. But placing the <script> below the element that the JS works with allows the page to work but thought the correct method to use was place all JS functions inside the <head> tags?

here is a link to the folder I am testing this out on.

[URL]

I have named the two files accordingly,

test_booking_page-script is in head tags.php
test_booking_page-script is outside head tags.php

why the code works outside the head tag but not when i is inside the head tag ?
