I have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.
If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.
I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.
How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?
I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.
fadeSlideShow(); plugin pause function part:
stopAutoplay = function(){
clearInterval(intval);
intval = false;

If there is a better solution let's say to kill everything before the new slideshow appears it's even better. Although I've tried die(), empty(), detach(), remove(). I hoped remove() would help cause as I read it's suppsed to remove everything but for some reasons it doesn't...

I'm building a webpage using javascript and iframes. Basically I have an iframe in the middle of the index.html page that links to another html page (let's call it iframe.html). My question is, is it possible to call a javascript function from iframe.html to control an object on index.html? If so, how do I do this? I'd like to be able to assign an image in iframe.html with the hyperlink of href="javascript:function()", where the function effects the CSS of a div on index.html.

When i browse this test html page on Firefox, the alert message is displayed as on the code above. But on IE, the page shows no such alert message.I assume this is a problem with the functions on the external js file not being recognised in IE.
How do you call a jquery function from an external js file and then load that function when the window loads, that is the .ready() function if I am not mistaken.
View 2 Replies View Relatedhow to call my js function on the HTML page. This is a homework assignment and I've written the code but I just can't make it work. I can get the prompt boxes but the results don't show.
The assignment is to calculate basketball ticket prices. Each ticket has a base price. An up-charge or down-charge % is applied to the base price depending on the seat location. Courtside seats command a 20% premium upcharge Lower bowl seats have a 12% premium upcharge Inexpensive upper bowl seats cost 5% less than the stated base ticket price. If more than 8 tickets are purchased, 5% will be deducted from the total.
I have to use prompt() in my html page to prompt user for information. Then I'm to call the function to calculate the answers and build HTML to ouput.
look at what I have and offer advice as how to fix my code.
Here's my js file:
function calcTotalTicketCost(baseTicketCost, totalNumberTickets){
var courtside = 0.20;
var lowerbowl = 0.12;

I am trying to write a script to switch style sheets when a user clicks a button. I got my script to work. I created buttons with in the script, put them in a div, and used appendChild to add the div to the page. This all works and the style sheets switch, however I want to add a cookie, so when the user returns to the page it displays with the style sheet they were using last. I can't figure out how to grab which style sheet the user selected, to add it to the cookie. I have included the code for the switching.
function addEvent(object, evName, fnName, cap)
{
if (object.attachEvent)

I have a few buttons on a page I'm developing and I want the onclick event to call a javascript function in an external file and execute it. I would like to be able to pass a parameter to that function and then either have the function take the user to a new URL or make changes to the webpage content.
Initially (just to test) I had inline javascript that caused an alert to popup. That worked fine. Next I took the inline code and put it in a function in an external javascript file that was referenced in the HTML:

I cannot call a function more than one time in my page, the function is:
Code:
<script>
function seeBig(_this) {

what problem I am facing is, if I want to build another table as the same as the one above, the function will not work. I know I might need give the function an ID
Currently just trying to call functions from a .js file from my .html file. Here is the code, can't figure out why it doesn't work? It works if I put the medeltal(); into the .js file but I wanna call them from the html. Note that if I put the medeltal (20, 10, 30, 40); into the JS file at top it works just fine, but i can't seem to get it to work from the html file.
JS code:
function medeltal(var1, var2, var3, var4){
result = (var1 + var2 + var3 + var4) / 4;
alert(result);
}
.xhtml code:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 StrictEN" "[URL]">
<html xmlns="[uRL]" xml:lang="en">
<head>
<title>Uppgift 2</title>
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html charset=iso-8859-1" />
</head><body>
<script type="text/javascript" src="script.js">
medeltal(20, 10, 30, 40);

I am VERY NEW to javascript programming as I am to web development. I am pretty decent with VB.Net though. My question is, what are the different ways to call a JavaScript Function either from within XHTML Markup code or from a VB.Net Code-Behind file?
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy problem is similar to an earlier issue here but I have a script directing the HTML form. I want to change the "button" to an image in my cpanel and have tried an earlier answer with no luck.
I did manage to get the button replaced with my image but the javascript does not work and allows a signup to bypass filling out the form and go to the destination page.
The script works perfectly with the "button" but I really would like to have my image I made.
Here is what I have with the "button" :
<button onClick="return popup('<span onClick='selectShape(1, 1, 1)'>test<span>');" tabindex=Ɖ' onFocus="setFocusColor(0,3)">....</button>
This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working
......selectShape(2, 'Tricky', ཤx5°').....
I got an [object error] from IE 7.0.5730.11 when moving the <script
src="..." type="text/javascript" /tag from the <headpart to the
<bodysection of a HTML file.
Is not possibile to include Javascript code via <script src="..."
type="text/javascript" /from the <bodysection, instead from the
<headone? If yes, anyone has any idea of which the problem could be?
If not, how can I programmatically include a javascript external file
inside the <bodypart of a HTML file, for example, using Javascript
to some particular native functions?
I wanna send a file thru the JQuery.load, I want it to work exactly like the regular post without the JQuery. So I can check the $_FILES['file']['error'] in PHP and all its features like I do without using JQuery.
$("#load").load('gerenciar_itens.php',{/* This is where I wanna pass the file. */}, function(data){
alert(data);
});
I have one html-file where the user inserts a search path for an excel file. When the user clicks the button the data in the excel file should be presented in a <TABLE>. (Yeah, I know, activex only works in IE .. but that's good enough for this project)
The problem is .. I started out with a "fixed" search path for the excel file, so I didn't have the code in a function. That worked just fine. Once I added the function {} around the code it wouldn't work, it works just fine if I comment out the form-part and the function-part, and give the search path, of course.
It also works just fine if I use the function and form, but remove the <TABLE>- and <TR>-rows

I have a .js file, we want to make it to load a html file right next to it, both files are on client system. I couldn't find any such examples and some posts talked about JavaScript security issues, I wonder if it is related to what I want.
Someone said .js file is not really JaveScript file, though Microsoft named it 'JavaScript'.
note that I am trying to "call" .html file from the .js file, not embed html code in .js.
I came across a very odd browser behavior when trying to modify a css class using javascript and at the same time having a base html statement in my html file.Without the base html statement, all browsers work fine and I can change the css class definition using javascript easily.With a base html statement, only FireFox still works while Internet Explorer and Google Chrome dont work anymore. If there is a cross-domain issue, while one browser does work and the others dont? An example of what I'm talking about, with the base statement:

Without the base statement:

how to tweak the code in the case with the base html statement in order for the javascript to work with all browser (modifying the class definition) ?I want to be able to manipulare css classes with javascript when a base html statement is in my html code.This is essentially the code:
