I have just started learning JQuery and have a doubt in the below code. $.get('myhtmlpage.html', myCallBack);The doubt is should the 1st parameter of the get function be a HTML file or can it be a unction name?

I would like to create a html E-test form run on PC and the data will save into a file on disk. I search online for this function code but found that most the script only save the cookie, is it possible for javascript save form data to file? Here is the ideal for my survay form,
1. user click "start" button for the e-test,
2. user need to finish the e-test with in 20 minutes, after 20 minutes the form will auto submit and the data will save into file,
3. me will go to the file folder open it and print out the qestion and anwser.
4. The file will be detele after i print out and the next user can do the e-test again.
I got the time counter and the auto submit script. but i just have no ideal how to save the data into file.
I have a slideshow plugin and there is a function in it called stopAutoplay(). This is called when I click on the pre-defined pause button in the slideshow, so it stops.
If I switch between the slideshows(Slideshow 1 2 3) the slideshow is getting messier and messier because it starts many slideshows at the same time and the plugin gets confused what to show.
I figured if I click on the pause button before I switch to another slideshow it works fine. Therefore what I would like to achieve now is to call stopAutoplay() somehow before I switch to the new slides.
How can I call stopAutoplay() from the html file when I click on one of the slideshow 1 2 3 buttons?
I've tried the codes in green below but they don't work.
If there is a better solution let's say to kill everything before the new slideshow appears it's even better. Although I've tried die(), empty(), detach(), remove(). I hoped remove() would help cause as I read it's suppsed to remove everything but for some reasons it doesn't...
I have a external file for example abc.js ,in this abc.js file no functions ,it contains some scripting,i want to call the scripting file though html I use the code
I'm building a webpage using javascript and iframes. Basically I have an iframe in the middle of the index.html page that links to another html page (let's call it iframe.html). My question is, is it possible to call a javascript function from iframe.html to control an object on index.html? If so, how do I do this? I'd like to be able to assign an image in iframe.html with the hyperlink of href="javascript:function()", where the function effects the CSS of a div on index.html.
Below is a sample HTML code for including a javascript file.
Code HTML4Strict:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

When i browse this test html page on Firefox, the alert message is displayed as on the code above. But on IE, the page shows no such alert message.I assume this is a problem with the functions on the external js file not being recognised in IE.
I am making a small gallery script. When a user clicks an image, I would like for a function to be called that tells the browser where that image is located in an object. For example:

It works, I just don't like it because it is messy and it seems sensible that some workaround exists.
How do you call a jquery function from an external js file and then load that function when the window loads, that is the .ready() function if I am not mistaken.
how to call my js function on the HTML page. This is a homework assignment and I've written the code but I just can't make it work. I can get the prompt boxes but the results don't show.
The assignment is to calculate basketball ticket prices. Each ticket has a base price. An up-charge or down-charge % is applied to the base price depending on the seat location. Courtside seats command a 20% premium upcharge Lower bowl seats have a 12% premium upcharge Inexpensive upper bowl seats cost 5% less than the stated base ticket price. If more than 8 tickets are purchased, 5% will be deducted from the total.
I have to use prompt() in my html page to prompt user for information. Then I'm to call the function to calculate the answers and build HTML to ouput.
look at what I have and offer advice as how to fix my code.
Here's my js file: function calcTotalTicketCost(baseTicketCost, totalNumberTickets){ var courtside = 0.20; var lowerbowl = 0.12;
I have a few buttons on a page I'm developing and I want the onclick event to call a javascript function in an external file and execute it. I would like to be able to pass a parameter to that function and then either have the function take the user to a new URL or make changes to the webpage content.
Initially (just to test) I had inline javascript that caused an alert to popup. That worked fine. Next I took the inline code and put it in a function in an external javascript file that was referenced in the HTML:
I cannot call a function more than one time in my page, the function is:
Code: <script> function seeBig(_this) { document.all.view_img.src=_this.parentNode.getElementsByTagName("img")[0].src; }
[Code]....
what problem I am facing is, if I want to build another table as the same as the one above, the function will not work. I know I might need give the function an ID
Currently just trying to call functions from a .js file from my .html file. Here is the code, can't figure out why it doesn't work? It works if I put the medeltal(); into the .js file but I wanna call them from the html. Note that if I put the medeltal (20, 10, 30, 40); into the JS file at top it works just fine, but i can't seem to get it to work from the html file.
JS code: function medeltal(var1, var2, var3, var4){ result = (var1 + var2 + var3 + var4) / 4; alert(result); }
I am VERY NEW to javascript programming as I am to web development. I am pretty decent with VB.Net though. My question is, what are the different ways to call a JavaScript Function either from within XHTML Markup code or from a VB.Net Code-Behind file?
I'm using the standard module pattern and the problem is once you set a private variable, trying to test that object independently becomes a nightmare as the next test is polluted by the actions of the previous.So, the options are to have some reset method (which is horrible), setters on everything (defeats the point) or delete object and re-load script (hideous).
I have web form (not MVC) that has bunch of textarea and textboxes where user can input HTML markup. For example, a textarea is provided so users can put YouTube embed iframe html tag where it will be shown on their profile. The problem is that asp.net 4.0 http request validation doesn't like things like ">" or "<", etc. I can put pagevalidation="false" on the page and/or revert back to .net 2.0 validation but why would I want to do that since I have geniuses like you guys that can show me how to do what I want with jquery without jeopardizing security.
So what I want to do is form a handler so when the form is submitted, the content of the textboxes and textarea on the page be encoded (i.e. > to > etc.) before the submission to the asp.net 4.0 so we can keep the httprequest validation stuff happy. I have added a class "mustEncode" to each of the textarea and textboxes.
I coudn't understand some behavior of RegExp.test function.
Example html code: ---------------- <html><head></head><body><script type="text/javascript"> var r = /^https?:///g; document.write( [ r.test('http://a'), r.test('http://b'), r.test('http://c'), r.test('http://d') ]); </script></body></html> ---------------------
The page displays true, false, true, false. (in Opera, Firefox and IE) This is strange because I expected it would display true, true, true, true. There must be something I didn't know about the function RegExp.test.
I am creating a simon says game, the game is based on 4 images (each has an opposite) when the game begins one of the image randomly flashes, the flash is between itself and its opposite (day and night). the user is then to mimic that flash by clicking on that image. If he clicks in that image then i want the move to be correct or 'true' if he clicks on another image i want the move to be incorrect 'false'. if false he will be redirected to an alert box thats says game over, if true then 2 of the images then flash as opposed to only one, again randomly. I am unsure how to test if it is correct or incorrect and then if correct get 2 of the images to flash randomly and so on. Can anyone help? please? here is what i have so far:
<button onClick="return popup('<span onClick='selectShape(1, 1, 1)'>test<span>');" tabindex=Ɖ' onFocus="setFocusColor(0,3)">....</button> This will work perfectly, but as soon as I need to pass Strings inside the selectShape function, I get stuck.
So the question is, how can I create the following and have it working
