Object.onclick=function() - Function To Be Called That Tells The Browser Where That Image Is Located In An Object
Jul 11, 2011
I am making a small gallery script. When a user clicks an image, I would like for a function to be called that tells the browser where that image is located in an object. For example:
[Code]...
It works, I just don't like it because it is messy and it seems sensible that some workaround exists.

I want to pass the object to a function that is called with a setInterval, like so:
Code:
function Test(obj) {
divTest.innerText = obj.id;
} function ClickMe(obj) {
itv = setInterval( 'Test(' + obj + ')' , 10 );
}
So when I click a link I want to execute every 10 msec a test. This off course does not work.

Can assign a new function to a built-in object in Firefox:
But IE and Opera don't have a MouseEvent or HTMLElement that can be set up in the same way. Can you do this in IE or Opera, or just Firefox, and maybe Webkit?

I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
page.html
<script type="text/javascript">
loadGoogleStuff();
function loaded() {
console.debug("in loaded function");
}
[Code]...
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.

I have something that's called with AJAX when the user enters some text [url]. What I want is to execute some javascript within this "frame". If the frame calls something, with say <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('h'); </script> in it, then "h" doesn't appear, and neither does anything besides what would normally be shown if I didn't add that.

I'm trying to make a time script for an app I'm making (this is not an HTML document; it's a .js file to be used with Titanium) however I'm having trouble getting the function to display and update.
function updateClock()
{
setInterval ( 'kiTime()', 1000 );
}
function kiTime ()
{
//Get current date and time
[Code]...
If I use kiTime() under the text field I will get the current time (or at least the time the app was opened), however if I call updateClock() it's blank.

Some of the object properties in the Dojo Toolkit are set to objects but they are using syntax like this:
object.property = new function() {
this.property = someValue;
this.property = someFunction;
}
Is the property set to a new object and if so what is the "new function()" statment doing?

function aa() {};
var bb = new aa();
var dd = new function cc() {};
aa.prototype.rr = 100;
cc.prototype.rr = 100;
---------------------------------------------------------------
i wrote the code above that makes two functions and two object for
those.
bb(object)<-aa(function),
cc(object)<-dd(function).
i think it's all the same way to make an object for a function.
but if u try to debug,
bb object has rr right after "aa.prototype.rr = 100" statement
but cc deosn't have rr variable.
can anyone explain it why?

I'm trying to add a function to an existing JS object without much success. The new function is included in a file of dynamically loaded JS (included using document.write), appended after the core JS script tag at runtime. This should be a simple task:
[Code]...
Adding extra script tags to the html source isn't an option either. There would be too many pages to think about. My new function must be dynamically loaded in with JS somehow. Is there anything else I could try?

I have used an object in the past as a function argument, but this was for a plugin that I wrote. Using it in the architecture of a plugin it worked. BUT, this time, I just want to write a normal function, but still use an object to set defaults and pass in changes to those defaults through as a param. Is this possible, or do I have to make this a jQuery function like $.myfunction() ?

I am creating a JavaScript object which I want to use to respond to user input on a web page. The object will basically be made up of a constructor and then a selection of functions which will use the DOM to alter the appearance of the page according to the user's input. I am getting stuck because I want a form element that is being created by the object to have an 'onkeyup' event attached to it which will call another function from the same object.
Now, I understand how to attach the 'onkeyup' event to the input element I have created using the DOM. If I tell the event to call a normal function (alert() etc) then it does exactly that. What I am having trouble with is getting the event to call another function from the object that created the input box in the first place. (I don't even know if this is possible / a wise thing to do!). Code:
