I am making a small gallery script. When a user clicks an image, I would like for a function to be called that tells the browser where that image is located in an object. For example:
[Code]...
It works, I just don't like it because it is messy and it seems sensible that some workaround exists.
Can assign a new function to a built-in object in Firefox:
But IE and Opera don't have a MouseEvent or HTMLElement that can be set up in the same way. Can you do this in IE or Opera, or just Firefox, and maybe Webkit?
Obviously I'dont want "alert('undefined !?');" to happen.

I'm new to client side js, so I'm trying to figure out the relationship between the js frames object and the <frame></frame> tags. I have read and reread the information in my book on this subject and googled many examples, but still need clarification.if I have the following code in the body of an HTML document.
<frame name="f1">
</frame>
<<frame name="f2">
</frame>
Then I should get back 2 when I do this alert(document.frames.length);
Instead I get document.frames is undefined from Foxfire and get 0 from ie8.If I replace document with top, window, self or parent I get 0 in both Foxfire and ie8.
i m in trouble i made some piece of code , i've used setInterval() like this way

loadGoogleStuff();
function loaded() {
console.debug("in loaded function");
}

window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.

I have an input form that accepts numbers. I am trying to compare the last field value to the current field value. My problem is that when I use the variable name of the last field in an object path, I get the error "null or not an object". The var 'L' is the problem in the statement below. If I manually type the field name in place of 'L', it works fine. How do I have to write this statement so 'L' works?
Problem statement:
c=window.document.save_info.L.value;
Here is my code: Form element:
Code:
<input style="border:1px solid gray; background-color: #FF9;" onkeyup="moveOnTwo('frm_score1',<?PHP echo $num_holes; ?>,this,'frm_score2')" size="1" maxlength="3" name="frm_adjsc1" id="frm_adjsc1" />
JavaScript Function:
Code:
function moveOnTwo(lastFieldID,holes,field,nextFieldID){
var L = lastFieldID ; var N = nextFieldID;

I'm new to jquery as you will soon find out. I have a number of divs with the same class applied to them and I want to be able to animate them separately as each one is clicked - right now clicking on one, affects the entire family of like-tagged. I think I might be going about this the wrong way or missing something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using objects in JS and I am trying to add draggable() into a DIV that works when I move the function out of the object context.
Example:
Code:
That does not work. However, if I do this:
Code:
Then it will work... because the draggable() function is not within the object.
I need this to work within the object, because I will have several DIVs associated with objects and I need them to have draggable() in specific cases.
How to work with nested JSON object/Arrays using jQuery Data Link?

I am trying to call a function from within a function. like this but it doesnt work:
[Code]...
I am unable to use this, self or parent.
Very simple code, and it won't work...
Code:
<script type="text/javascript">
function Toggler() {
Alert();
[code]....
For some reason, this doesn't work on my page. onClick="Alert();" DOES work, but "Toggler();" doesn't. I know, right?! Further weirdness, the code DOES work if I create a simple HTML page that contains nothing but the code contained above. But when I put it into my existing page, it stops working whenever it's embedded. Alert works, Toggler doesn't.
My page is an index.php file which pulls a pre-established "head.tpl" and "foot.tpl", and slots in the requested content between them. I'm trying to put this code in "head.tpl". This is the only JavaScript I'm using (so far), and other than that it's all HTML, CSS and PHP.
When using the following code, I press Sign Guestbook button and the alert does not show. The alert is there as a test to see if the function is being called.
<input name="btnSign" type="submit" value="Sign Guestbook" onClick="return checkForm();" />
function checkForm()

The code below correctly formats a phone number in a form field. Works in fine in Safari, Chrome, Firefox, but not IE. Any ideas why or how I might correct it so that it works there as well?

Some of the object properties in the Dojo Toolkit are set to objects but they are using syntax like this:
object.property = new function() {
this.property = someValue;
this.property = someFunction;
}
Is the property set to a new object and if so what is the "new function()" statment doing?
function aa() {};
var bb = new aa();
var dd = new function cc() {};
aa.prototype.rr = 100;
cc.prototype.rr = 100;
---------------------------------------------------------------
i wrote the code above that makes two functions and two object for
those.
bb(object)<-aa(function),
cc(object)<-dd(function).
i think it's all the same way to make an object for a function.
but if u try to debug,
bb object has rr right after "aa.prototype.rr = 100" statement
but cc deosn't have rr variable.
can anyone explain it why?
I'm trying to add a function to an existing JS object without much success. The new function is included in a file of dynamically loaded JS (included using document.write), appended after the core JS script tag at runtime. This should be a simple task:
[Code]...
Adding extra script tags to the html source isn't an option either. There would be too many pages to think about. My new function must be dynamically loaded in with JS somehow. Is there anything else I could try?
I have this code:
Code:
var Lightbox = function()
{
this.shine = function(a)
[code]...
I do not like this line: new Lightbox().shine(this). This way I will have [i+1] objects of the Lightbox. How can I change this code?
On the click of a table row I want to call a function and pass a that particular table row as a table row object to a function. I was wondering how I would do that? And also if I could grab the number of that table row as well.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhy doesn't a onmouseover function work in a function?
(It's prob due to my code being wrong more than anything else!)
I've got the following code (snippet):
<!-- Begin
var image0 = new Image(); image0.src = "blank.jpg";
var image1 = new Image(); image1.src = "map.jpg";
// End -->
function swapTheImages()
{
image0.src=Ƈ.jpg' image1.src=ƈ.jpg' image2.src=ƈ.jpg'
}
When I do an onmouseover and call the function, it doesn't work.
BUT if I put the code in directly - it works!
