I have something that's called with AJAX when the user enters some text [url]. What I want is to execute some javascript within this "frame". If the frame calls something, with say <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('h'); </script> in it, then "h" doesn't appear, and neither does anything besides what would normally be shown if I didn't add that.
I am using a form validation class I got from the internet. Now I have a main page wherein I have a <div id="form"></div> that, using AJAX, displays other pages with forms like textboxes, etc. for a user to input. Here is the code for my main page:
Code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head>
I can't seem to get the syntax correct to get this to work. I'm sure it is something simple.I want to call multiple functions inside my document.ready function.The first function gets called but not the second.
$(document).ready( function GetSuspectCollection() { $.ajax({[code].....
Ok, so basically what I've got is a button which when clicked, "opens" a section of the page. I also need the button to "jump" to this section of the page, because it's below the current content and won't be visible. What I've got so far is ...
Javascript <script language="javascript"> function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("toggleText"); var text = document.getElementById("displayText"); if(ele.style.display == "block") { [Code]....
If I put two separate buttons, both functions will work. Basically I need them to be on the same function, not sure how to do that?
I'm using the uploadify jQuery plugin from here: [url] & am having some problems.
Everything is working correctly but the uploadifyUpload() function doesn't appear to be triggering. It is not accessing the add_list.php script whatsoever.
Here is my code from my header..
Code:
It correctly shows an alert box with "Correct" so I know it's getting in there to run it, but it just isn't running.
Shouldn't need to see this, but here is the errorCheck() function if interested..
Code:
Lastly this is the HTML code that calls it.. stripped out a lot of uneeded code for clarity.
I've been trying to write a Javascript Mortgage Calculator for the past day and I believe I've got the structure right, although for some reason my functions must not be operating correctly or are not being called correctly. I'm almost afraid to say that it could be an error in the functions usage within the while loop. This Mortgage Calculator uses the principle of "bisection" to guess at the monthly payment necessary to fulfill the standards of the mortgage in question. This means that the loop is used to consistently halve the value of a guess until the correct monthly payment is guessed. Here is the code:
<script type=text/javascript> function calcMortgage (amountText, yearsText, interestText) { // constant definitions // variable declaration var amount = Number(amountText); var years = Number(yearsText); [Code]...
I am making a small gallery script. When a user clicks an image, I would like for a function to be called that tells the browser where that image is located in an object. For example:
[Code]...
It works, I just don't like it because it is messy and it seems sensible that some workaround exists.
This is probably more of a basic javascript question than a specificjquery function.I have this jQuery function named validateSubmit()which calls two other regular javascript functions. When using IE,both createCharts() and getDirectorIDs get called but when usingFireFox, only createCharts() gets called and never makes it togetDirectorIDs() and I'm not sure why this occurs.
<script type="text/javascript"> // make sure at least one checkbox is checked function validateSubmit() {
i am using popupwindow.document.write(html_text); all the html of the pop-up goes into html_text.how can i build a function inside the html_text that can be called within the popup window?
I've got a js file where all the functions are wrapped inside $(document).ready(). I want to call one of the function from within the HTML but it says that the function "is not defined".
How would I go about copying all the prototype functions AND the constructor from one object into another object, and then call them?
I know I can use this.example.call(this), but that's not an acceptable solution. I want to deploy this style over dozens, potentially hundreds of objects.
I have written a number of functions designed to return frequency data on 1000 randomly chosen numbers using different math functions for the rounding. I would like to include all of these functions within the wrapper of another function so that only one call is needed to get returns from all of the 'inner' functions. However, while each of the functions works in isolation, the moment I wrap them in another function they stop working. :confused:
The following code is one of the functions 'frequencyWrapperOne' that has been wrapped in the function 'testWrapper'. A call to testWrapper does nothing.
function testWrapper() { function frequencyWrapperOne() {
I'm trying to group some existing top-level functions inside a closure (to avoid polluting the global namespace) but I'm not quite getting it to work. First, all the JS works outside my anonymous function, but once I put it in the anonymous function I get an error of "crossfade is not defined". I'm not quite getting why the the setInterval/crossfade works outside the anonymous function but not inside. Anything inside start() should be able to see vars/functions outside start() and it should all be protected in the closure created by the top-level anonymous function? I'm not trying to access anything *within* crossfade(), I'm just trying to execute it.
Code: (function($) { //vars up here that internal functions can access //also using some jquery inside here, so using $ function crossfade() { //body here } //other functions function start() { //body here cInterval = setInterval('crossfade()', 5000); } })(jQuery);
I want to pass the object to a function that is called with a setInterval, like so: Code: function Test(obj) { divTest.innerText = obj.id; } function ClickMe(obj) { itv = setInterval( 'Test(' + obj + ')' , 10 ); } So when I click a link I want to execute every 10 msec a test. This off course does not work.
I have created a simple javascript class and have a question regarding object construction/initialization. Can I have a method run upon initialization?
[Code]...
Can I have an initialization method called upon object construction?
I cant get my cookie to work. I believe its not my javascript that is wrong. Can anyone take a look to see what i did wrong in my cookie? I have to pages dropdown1.html and dropdown2.html. Both pages have the same exact dropdown list. There is also a javascript file called script.js which makes it so you get an error if you select the same option on the second drop down list as the first. Also in the script.js i have a cookie that should run so dropdown2.html should now what was selected in dropdown1.html Can anyone see if i made a mistake in either my javascript code in my cookie? Right now I am not getting the error message if you select the same option as the first. Ill show all my code incase you need it for reference
dropdown1.html
Code:
Code:
Script.js (this is the part where I cant figure out why the error message does not appear on the second dropdown menu if user selects the same option as the first)
I'm pretty new to jquery and I've been working on a little project to see what I can do. The issue is when I first visit the page and click the first link that appears in the main section it displays the popup box as wanted. Now when I click another day, for instance sunday and try to click the first link it doesn't do anything. And if I click back to Saturday the first link also doesn't do anything.
It seems something is not properly activating or maybe a command is overwriting and not allowing it to work like it does when you first hit the landing page.
I have a slideshow using jQuery and just added an apple overlay to the same page, and for some reason, now the slideshow will not work..Here are the links I have..:
I wondered if two jQuery functions work at the same time on the web page. I did practice one with two jQuery functions, just one function work while other isn't. What is causing it? What should I do to prevent having one is working while others isn't ? Is there a code to put in there to prevent it? If so, where should it be at?
I've been going through the documentation for the deferred objects API, and one thing that's still not clear to me is : what jQuery functions are returning a deferred object?
The documentation seems to say that jQuery.ajax() and the animation functions like jQuery.fadeIn() does (what about jQuery UI effects?), but the pages for those functions say they return a jqXHR object and a plain jQuery object.
I have an embarrassingly similar problem to the last time I was here. I have a google map that generates links and checkboxes from an xml file and puts them in a sidebar. The links open infowindows and the checkboxes show or hide lines on the map.
Which all works ok. But (like last time) I have another function that puts arrowheads along those lines to indicate directionality.
The code which turns the lines off and on looks like this: function togglePoly(poly_num) { if (document.getElementById('poly'+poly_num)) { if (document.getElementById('poly'+poly_num).checked) { gpolys[poly_num].show();
I'm using the Google AJAX APIs, but some reason google.load works when run through normal javascript, but if I call the method from my jquery ready function it doesn't work. Code and output is below
window.loadFirebugConsole is not a function If I comment out line 3 in code.js, the console debug runs okay, so the ready function is running okay. Even though there's a reference to Firebug, the same error occurs in Safari too. Nothing on the page loads.
