$("#test").droppable({
tolerance:'touch',
drop: function() {
[code]....
The above code works fine at Firefox and Google Chrome. And it works at IE 8 for the first drop action. The ajax method is not called after the first call although the append still works.

I have used `jQuery.validator.addMethod` to create a custom validate method that will make sure there is at least one row in my data-entry table. Using Firebug, my breakpoint in the method isn't being hit at all. Am I missing something? Note: I am sure there are problems with the validation method itself, but that is because I can't debug it yet. I am still very much a novice with JavaScript.

I use $().load() to place an HTML snippet from the server into a dialog box which i then need to position relative to the size of the element which has just had the HTML loaded into it. When the main HTML page DOM is ready, I hide() the dialog box, and then use fadeIn() to show with various click() events. I have managed to position the dialog box in the centre of the screen given that there is no content loaded.
However, it seems that when I load the new content into the dialog box the new dimensions aren't taken into account untill the next time load() is called.
Is there a way to get the new dimensions of the element before the dialog is shown in order to position it centre screen?
Here is my code:
function showDialogBox(sender) {
var width = $(document).width();
var height = $(document).height();

Got the following code, which loads some html into a div, then set's the focus to a textbox:
This works fine with 1.4.2, but with 1.4.3 I get an error in jquery-1.4.3.js using Firebug: handler is undefined Line 1797
This happens on line 2 of the code
To me it looks as if the wrong .load method is being called, from the jQuery docs:[url]
Note: The event handling suite also has a method named .load(). Which one is fired depends on the set of arguments passed.
I think the event .load method is being called because line 1797 in jquery-1.4.3.js
if ( handler.handler ) {and comments around it talk about binding events to objects etc.
Can anyone confirm this is the case, or something else is causing the error with 1.4.3

I have an image sitting in a <td> tag, and I want the image to change every 5 seconds. I have a total of 3 images that I need to cycle, and I need it to go back to image1 after displaying image3 for 5 seconds.
I want to call the changeAd() function from the setInterval method within the startAdPAge() function because I am going to be adding more statements to the startAdPage() function, so the body onload event will call the startAdPage() function, which will in turn, call all the other functions.
I was using an if/else statement in the changeAd(), but that only changed between image1 and image2, so i am trying this array, but now it is not changing at all.

I am making a small gallery script. When a user clicks an image, I would like for a function to be called that tells the browser where that image is located in an object. For example:
[Code]...
It works, I just don't like it because it is messy and it seems sensible that some workaround exists.

I am trying some simple things with javascript and trying to use it in a object oriented way. However I am now facing a problem in which I can't access an object variable from an object method. I am using jQuery.
My code is as follows;
Code:
My problem is that the variable msg1 does not work when accessed from function called from the jQuery get function. I get the message undefined. Therefore I am wondering, is there a way how I can access msg1 of my object instance from the get function of jQuery?

I have something that's called with AJAX when the user enters some text [url]. What I want is to execute some javascript within this "frame". If the frame calls something, with say <script type="text/javascript"> document.write('h'); </script> in it, then "h" doesn't appear, and neither does anything besides what would normally be shown if I didn't add that.

I want to pass the object to a function that is called with a setInterval, like so:
Code:
function Test(obj) {
divTest.innerText = obj.id;
} function ClickMe(obj) {
itv = setInterval( 'Test(' + obj + ')' , 10 );
}
So when I click a link I want to execute every 10 msec a test. This off course does not work.

I am using objects in JS and I am trying to add draggable() into a DIV that works when I move the function out of the object context.
Example:
Code:
That does not work. However, if I do this:
Code:
Then it will work... because the draggable() function is not within the object.
I need this to work within the object, because I will have several DIVs associated with objects and I need them to have draggable() in specific cases.

been looking for a solution to this one for a couple of days, with no luck, I downloaded an under construction template from herethat incorporates keith wood's countdown timerjquery plugin. Its a perfect template for my site. Trouble is i just can't find a way to adjust the timer. it works fine, without adjusting any of the code but it's default display reads that there's 500+ days estimated to launch. As it's for my business website i don't want people to be put off visiting again, so i wanted to adjust the timer to just a few days. (i.e estimated time of launch 3 days, 72 hrs, however many mins & secs)

I am using the script below to open a new window and once opened,
redirect to that open window from the original window:
private void btnNewPDFWindow_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
string NewPage = "NewPageZoom.aspx";
string ScriptBlockNewPage = "<script language='javascript'>var
NewPDFPage=window.open('" + NewPage + "','PDFPage');";
ScriptBlockNewPage = ScriptBlockNewPage +
"NewPDFPage.focus();</script>";
Response.Write(ScriptBlockNewPage);
}
For some reason, with the code above, I have to click the button twice
in order to get it to focus to the 2nd window again.
Any ideas?

I am looking to make an adjustment to this script. I'm trying to find a way to do it as neatly as possible, and without breaking any pre-existing functionality.hat I'm trying to do is have the first section open by default. What makes this a challenge for me is that the boxes that assemble to create the content wrapper are drawn on page initialization.

I'm working on a drag and drop HTML editor, in which blocks can be positioned. I need to build a controller which listens to mouse events and takes appropriate action (a state machine). The system is built using prototypes and objects. The Controller class looks like this (I removed some methods for simplification):
Code JavaScript:
/**
* Creates a controller for a document
*/
function Controller() {[code]....
The method 'handleMove' is entitled to handle a mouse move on the overlay. Because the 'this' keyword would not point to the Controller object I've written a wrapper according to the W3C EventListener interface (http://www.w3.org/TR/DOM-Level-2-Eve...-EventListener). This wrapper holds a reference to the object in which the method resides that's handling the event, so that the important 'document' attribute can be reached. This document holds the document that is being edited (it's of a custom type, and not to be confused with the document as in document.body)
The problem I now have is as follows. IE doesn't seem to be able to work with event handlers following the EventListener interface, but just functions. I need to get the object's reference there as well though, but this can't be done using an anonymous function, as at the moment it will be run it will be in a different scope, and not be able to reach the controller any more.Just using a global holding that reference variable, a method I used before, is not sufficient, as there may be multiple instances of the editor running on the same page.I have no problems in FFox, Opera, and Safari. Just IE because it uses an alternative event listener model.

Code:
var testi_box = {
spread: function(num) {
var main_obj=document.getElementById('testis');
$('.bg').stop().animate({opacity:1},800);
$(main_obj).stop().animate({height: 420}, 800);
var objs=main_obj.children;
[Code]...
So, I have this object that is set to fire its method the moment a user hovers their mouse over a particular div on my page. IT works just fine in all other browsers but IE7 or below. When i look at the error in IE it says that testi_box is undefined. But clearly it is defined. So, I'm lost. Is there something that I am missing?

I want each instance of an object to be able to listen for input events.
When the event occurs, a method of the object should be called, such
that "this" is in scope and refers to the object instance.
Is this possible? Example:
function MyConstructor(element)
{
//element is some HTML element
this.addListeners(element);
this.foo = "Bar";
return this;
}
MyConstructor.prototype.addListeners = function(element)
{
element.addEventListener("keypress", this.doSomething, true);
}
MyConstructor.prototype.doSomething = function(e)
{
alert(this.foo.length); //Error: this.foo has no properties
alert(this);
//shows the HTML element that triggered the event
}
Is there any way to get "this" to refer to the object in the event listener?
