Variable Doesn't Work In An Object Statement
Feb 19, 2010I have an input form that accepts numbers. I am trying to compare the last field value to the current field value. My problem is that when I use the variable name of the last field in an object path, I get the error "null or not an object". The var 'L' is the problem in the statement below. If I manually type the field name in place of 'L', it works fine. How do I have to write this statement so 'L' works?

which will work in Internet Explorer 6?
"typeof" doesn't work -- it returns "object" for all objects:
x = window.open('http://www.yahoo.com/');
alert(typeof x);
And I found this page:

which claims: "To get the type of an object x, use x.class".
However, that doesn't work in IE 6 so it must be Mozilla-only.

I have to check from my external domain if a service is running on localhost:8080 of a local machine.
I'm using XMLHttpRequest to do it.
I'm checking a local-web-server, not a file.
Every browser doesn't work, but Firefox. So I'm looking for a work-aorund.
An iframe? a flash swf? an applet java? HTA applications?
A side question is, why does FF work? Because it's a local-web-server?
Can't Move A Complex Object From One Frame To Another
Jul 20, 2005I am trying to implement JavaScript that will remove a table row in frame [left],
and append it to a table in frame [right]. The browser is IE6.
I've played with several approaches for quite a bit of time, but none of them seem
to work. The removed row does not seem to be able to go across the frame boundaries.

After you have chosen one of those some other field appear under the dropdown thing. I use the slideToggle event for this effect. In firefox its all working fine, but in ie 6.0 and 7.0 it doesnt work. What do need:A dropdown menu with a few options in it. You can choose one of those and after you select it a few other options apear under the dropdown menu.

Sep 13, 2010I have a problem with a jQuery selector that works in both Firefox and Chrome but refuses to in Internet Explorer.
The jQuery line looks like

Which is trying to select a click on the following bit of HTML (this is a Django template)

The intent is to toggle the visibility of some table rows that exist just below the (Customise) link.
I can tell this is a selector problem by adding an alert(); in the click function which isn't fired in IE.

The one is showing flashvideos in a lightbox and the other one is displaying thumbnails in a slideshow.The problem is that only one script is working. I have searched the web and forums and found that several people have had this problem before and I have truly tried to fix it with noConflict(). The problem is that I have very little experience in Javascript so I haven't got it working.So, here are the lines in the code:
