How can i update my script, so that it works cross the browser.
Is there a way to dynamically (e.g. upon onClick) change the bgColor attribute of a table cell? I tried cell.setAttribute("bgColor", someColor), where someColor was a string of the form "#RRGGBB", but nothing happened.
Also, how can I set the mouse cursor to be an arrow when it hovers over these table cells? (It's an insertion bar now.)
I am trying to make a simple <input type="button"to link to a different page.[code]it works under Internet Explorer but one of my main parts is to make this page cross platform and my question was how to get this to work under google chrome en firefox and so on.
var req = createXMLHttpRequest(); function createXMLHttpRequest() { var ua; if(window.XMLHttpRequest) { try { ua = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch(e) { ua = false; } } else if(window.ActiveXObject) { try { ua = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch(e) { ua = false; } } return ua; } function sendRequest(frm, file) { .....
URl...The idea is a like button, like on fb, in a form which updates a db field I can use to display the number of likes, and my goal is to disable the like button for the rest of the session, or a day, or whatever. This script disables it onclick, the problem is I can't figure out how to get it to submit the form as well.I have found it does submit if the input type is 'submit', but then it doesn't call the disable function. I tried writing another function to submit the form but no go.[code]
Any way to define the length of a textfield? I have just set all the field with a width so that they look like clear and easy to read, However, When I see the page of mac os, They are totally not the result in IE of FF, Does there any way to define it absolutely?

I want to create a input box the says Password inside the box and gets erased when someone clicks inside of it. Then when they type their password it is in asterisk characters.Can anyone tell me what extra scripting I need?
I'm trying to access a value from an input form. I know this works without the onkeyup event but with it it says the that document.formname.elementid.value is undefined! Its extremely frustrating. As the user types into the input, I am using AJAX to generate some more options which works but I need to be able to access the input type=text value.
I have a form with texts inputs and a submit button... The page has post parameters from the previous page. Now when I press enter key on one of the text inputs, the posted parameters were gone... Do you know how to disable enter key for this purpose
Firstly, I got this script which gets values and automatically calculates it and shows result. Script: <script type="text/javascript"> function calculate(f){ var prod=Number(f['users'].value); var quan=Number(f['months'].value); var tot=prod*quan; f['total'].value=tot==0?'':tot.toFixed(2); } </script> <ul><li class="bold">Users</li> <li> <select name="users" onchange="calculate(this.form)" id="users"> <option value='1'>1</option> <option value='2'>2</option> </select> </li></ul> <ul><li class="bold">Period</li><li> <select name="months" onchange="calculate(this.form)" id="months"> <option value=''>Select Months</option> <option value='1'>1 Month</option> <option value='2'>2 Months</option> </select></li></ul> Total: <input type="text" name="total" readonly="readonly">
What I'm trying to make is, the total, to be in a div and not input type text Something like <div id="total"></div> I don't like because it shows in form, I want it directly. One more thing, is possible to make the default price 0.00 ? and when selecting automatically changes to price..
I got a couple of comboboxes were the user selects a series of numbers. Once a selection is made, the value is appended to an input box. The idea is that the appended values form a telephone number, or at least part of one, that will then be used to search trough a database to look for a matching number.If I select "021" from indicatif, the script will append 021 to the input "blabla". The problem is, if I now select "022", the input will show "021022" instead of replacing the 021 with 022.
What I would like is that, for each combobox, the script replaces the selected value with the new one instead of simply appending it, like instead of say 021022555666 it would show 021555 or 022666 or 021666 depending on what is selected...you get the idea?Is this doable? Needless to say I'm a total noob at javascript.
I'm trying to validate an input type text html tag with JS.There is an array (prefisso[]) with a lot of dial codes.The first 3 characters of the value to check must be one of the elements of "prefisso[]".The value to check must be longer than 9 chars (min 10).
I am trying to setup a password input that fist shows: "Password". When the user selects it (or focuses on it), it clears and becomes a password input. If the person, clears the password and leaves focus (blurs), the word password appears again.I did some research on this first. There is this article that requires creation of two inputs (hide one, show the other). I also read this article.Without confusing everyone, I am trying to do this simple and in a smart way:HTML BODY
Does the following indeed imply that this event is NOT called when an <input type="checkbox" is toggled?
This would thus imply the usage of the onClick handler instead (assuming an action needs to be invoked on check/ uncheck).
W3C Recomendation: 18 Scripts
onselect = script [CT] The onselect event occurs when a user selects some text in a text field. This attribute may be used with the INPUT and TEXTAREA elements.
I *know* the onClick can be used, I am just wondering about the use og onSelect.
I have a javascript program that uses a HTML table as an Excel-like grid. The user can use arrow keys to navigation the grid. When the user selects a cell and then hits <Enter> key, the program turns the cell from read-only to editable (an input box), and select all the text in the input box. When the user hits <Esc>, the program cancels the changes that the user has made and turns the cell back to read-only. So far so good. The problem is that as soon as the user hits <Esc> key and turns the cell back to read-only, I find that I cannot move the input focus back to the cell any more. Actually I cannot move the input focus back to _any_ cell in the table. When this happens, the user cannot use arrow keys to navigate the grid any more (like the grid has lost the input focus). The user needs to use the mouse to click at a cell in the table to get things working again.
The user can get around with this problem by un-selecting the text from the input-box before hitting <Esc>. But this is not something that I expect the user to remember to do. I need a way to fix this problem. I tried the logical thing and programmatically un-select the text before turning the cell back to read-only. But this actually made thing worse - this causes the workaround to stop working.
The only browsers that I have tested this program is IE6 and IE8. I have not tested this in any other browser.
Attached is a simplified version of the program that can show this problem in action. This simplified program first adds an empty table on the web page, and then creates an instance of the CEstGrid class that takes care of the grid. CEstGrid will add two rows of test data into the table with two columns in each row. The user should use a mouse to click at one of the cell, and the cell should be highlighted. The user uses arrow keys to navigate the table. When he reaches the end of the table, he will wrap around to the other side of the table. Let say the user reaches the cell in row-1 column-2, he hits <Enter> to change the cell to editable. He will find the text in that cell to be highlighted. When he hits <Esc> at this moment, he will find that he cannot use the arrow keys to navigate the table any more, and this is the problem. Please rename the test program from .TXT to .HTML to test it.
What I want to do is that when I click on a <input type="text" /> tag the checkbox next to it should become checked. I've tried with the help of internet for a couple of hours but I just can't find how I interact with other objects properly to achieve what I want to accomplish.
