Count The Elapsed Time And Print The Value In Seconds After The User Hits The Stop Button?
Apr 24, 2011
I have the following code that will count the elapsed time and print the value in seconds after the user hits the stop button. However we are trying to get it to post the elapsed time in hours. So lets say the elapsed time is 20 mintues, the output would be .3 hours.

I coded the following and it does what I want but the cursor flickers annoyingly in the input field in IE.The code I have is (BTW -- am using this in a Java development environment and the '$' had to be changed to 'JQuery' for this to work...):This is supposed to fade in and fade out the groupTip div block.
jQuery("td.divisionTrigger input, td.groupTrigger input, td.hqTrigger input").focus(function(){
jQuery("#groupTip").fadeIn(80);
}).blur(function(){
jQuery("#groupTip").fadeOut(80);
});

how to stop the browsers back button from working after a user has logged out. I tried the windows.history.forward(1); function but it either is not working for me, or I am not putting it int the right place.The logout button is on the menu.php page. The button calls the logout.php file which redirects the user to the index.php page after logout.

I'm trying to adapt a script I found online for a timer that goes in my webpage. The timer counts from 30 seconds down to 0. I've adapted it so that when it reaches 0 it goes back up to 30, but I was wondering how can I make it so that after a certain number of loops through the timer, it executes some other (non-JS) code instead of just doing the timer forever?I've introduced a variable t to try to do this, but when I put in if(t>1) {break} at the bottom, the timer doesn't work properly anymore (it doesn't display a number in the box).

I do have the countdown script (see link below) to display the time between current time and the date given in real-time. However, I want to achieve to display the time difference between a given start and end time. Right now, it calculates from the current server time to the end time. I want to be able to set up my own start time and end time.

Is there a way to get a print preview triggered by a button rather than just print?
<input type="button" name="print" value="Print" onClick="document.print();">
Unfortunately, the WebBrowser.execWB(7) functionality doesn't work in FF3.
Any idea using good old fashion JavaScript or jQuery?

I need to redirect the user to another url in 5 seconds without the "click" sound.
you'll notice that this:
Code JavaScript:
setTimeout("location.href='http://myurl';",5000);
produces a "click" sound (maybe only in IE). I want to avoid this sound in my code (I know this can be changed in windows in the user's computer).

what is the best way to count the seconds between each onkeyup to "autosave" without sending an ajax command after each key? id like my script to update after 2 seconds of no typing.... (yes, jquery is in use on the page)
function microtime (get_as_float) {
var now = new Date().getTime() / 1000;
var s = parseInt(now, 10);
return (get_as_float) ? now : (Math.round((now - s) * 1000) / 1000) + ' ' + s;
}
[Code]....
i'd use onchange or onblur but that requires you to unfocus the field before it saves...

Below is a copy of the javascript I am using to get the last modified date of a file named "lastupdated.txt". The script is currently showing me Day, Month, Date, Year, Hour, Minutes, Seconds and AM/PM (Example: Wednesday, May 20, 2009 1:38:23 PM) and works perfectly. I would like to tweak the output a little and I like everything about it except I would like to eliminate the seconds in the time.
<script type="text/javascript">
function getLastMod(){
var myFrm = document.getElementById('myIframe');
var lastModif = new Date(myFrm.contentWindow.document.lastModified);

I am having a problem trying find out how to turn a number of seconds into a 00:00 format to do a countdown, and when it reaches 0:00 to redirect the window...
here is what I have figured out:
Code:
var tID = 0;
var startTime = null;
var timeout = 5*(60*1000);
[Code]....
Also, if they click the Button that says, "I'm still here" to ping the server to keep them on the page working without logging them out, will that code cause a javascript error because now the tooltip popup window that has the timeCountDown will no longer be open, so how would them clicking the ping server button stop that from causing an error when it goes to update timeCountDown?

What I'm trying to do is a script that print a text, based on what the time is. I need different text (It's going to be 4 numbers, i.e 8328). I.E:
01.00 -> 01.59 = text1
02.00 -> 02.59 = text2
etc etc.. It must be all 24 hours of the day. I've been googling since 3 hours back now, and I don't think I can find anything relative to this, as it looks right now.

The problem with using HTML as a report writer is primarily the
unreliable page breaking.
However it is a rather handy way of writing reports with images
embedded.
I could generate say 10 HTML pages of a maximum length to fit a page -
page1.htm, page2.htm, page3.htm ...etc.
Can I print all 10 pages, one after another automatically using perhaps
Javascript or some other method. Naturally dont want to ask the user
to do this.
Browser compatability would need to be I.E. 6 and Safari (not sure of
the version).
