View 1 RepliesI am trying to connect to my SQL Server database & I have the following codes which doesn't work, it only showed "Display up to here":
var cn = new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Connection");
// the following info. is an example
var strConn = "Provider=sqloledb;SERVER=204.65.220.67,1000;DATABASE=WebTable;UID=ABC;PWD=password";
var SQL = "Select * from GuestName Where ID = 3865989";
alert ("Display up to here");
cn.Open(strConn);
rs.Open(SQL, cn);

I am wanting to write some programs that connect in real time with a server. The problem is I do not have a server and really do not know a whole lot about servers. I do know the basics, it connects with sockets and uses a unique port but I do not know how to build one, So I turn here.
Is it possible to make a server using javascript? If not, then what language is used for servers? is it possible for JS to connect to a foriegn language server?
Anyone know where some good tuts are on this? I type in javascript server in yahoo and just get info on JSP and SSI's..
I have a html file that I want to load, loop through the json data and for each json entry I want to add a new block of the html and insert the json data into the matching div/class of the html. json looks like this:
{"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
html looks like this:
<div class="Name"></div><div class="Age"></div>
So for each json entry of name/age, I want to insert that into the html, and then add another row, until all json data has been fetched. After this I want to insert all of this into #box, which is just a divthat should contain that html. Looping like this obviously does not work, since I just keep replacing the same html through the loop.
var jsonData = {"Super" : [{"Name" : "John Doe", "Age" : "30"}, {"Name" : "Jane Doe", "Age" : "40"}]};
$.each(json.Super, function() {
$('#box .Name').html(this.Name);
$('#box .Age).html(this.Age);
});
I need to retrieve data from ms-accesses using html.

I would like to open an html file locally (not fetch it from a server) and somehow use javascript to fetch the relative resources from the server. One solution would be to convert all of the relative links to absolute links. I can convert the html source file anyway I wish, but ideally I would like to modify the html source as little as possible, for example insert a function that modifies the result of the src attribute. How would I go about this? Is there any trick I can use to define where the relative home is? Am I going to get into any scripting security gotchas?

I am trying to send the login info from a form into a IIS server and the asp file on the server will just respond back with the following text "Welcome, &name" on a ajax form on the client side. Currently, i am using a GET response and would like to send using JSON instead.

whats the best way to pass a json string to the server.
if my jsonstring = {a:Ƈ',b:'sds',c:'sdg'}
could i send that to the server passing it as 1 variable like so:
url = /serverside.php?json=jsonstring
or would i have to break it down into something like this:
url = /serverside.php?a=1&b=sds&c=sdg
<div>Hi jQuery,</div>

I have this code:
var dataString = $.toJSON(data);
$.post(url, {dataValues: dataString}, function(res){
$('#secretIFrame').attr('src', url);
$('#secretIFrame').html(res);
});
Problem is, I can't access dataValues at the server side once I assign this same URL to the iframe.Is there any other way to POST JSON value through form submission without ajax? or any other way out, I am trying to download file that is based on some parameters and isn't a direct download link.
How does wrapping a json response from the server in textarea tags?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am doing a password reset form using Jquery and PHP. If I try to submit an email id it should sent and email and report back the response text as success so that the user knows email has been sent. But I am stuck with JSON submit as I have an empty array to decode at the serverside. I am using minified version of json2.js from the official json.org website
Here is the code.
Code JavaScript:
var formdata = $("#log-box").serializeArray();
formdata = JSON.stringify(formdata);
var notifymsg;
alert(formdata);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "forgot-pass.php",
contentType: 'application/json',
data: formdata,
success: function(responsedata){
var some = responsedata.split("&");
$.each(some, function(index,value){
//alert("index="+index+"value="+value);
});
},
error: function(o, s, e){
alert("Form not posted
"+e);
}});
formdata alerted gives:
[{"name":"email","value":"ravi.k@gmail.com"},{"name":"acctype","value":"loginaccount"}]
PHP forgot-pass.php
Code PHP:
print_r($_POST);
Gives
Array(

I'm trying to get a return of
[

I've got a variable that holds a jQuery object. I would like to filter out all of the visible elements in that jQuery object. The problem is once I'm using a variable and not the jQuery object itself I don't know the semantics for filtering it. I have something like this:
var Foo = $("#Bar");
FilterFunction(Foo);
function FilterFunction(Foo) {
var Test = $(Foo + ":visible");
}
What is the correct syntax?
I am using customer tag in my HTML to represent some structured information. Below is an example:
<person name="Frodo">
<weight value="100" unit="kg" />
<race value="Hobbit" />
</person>
I am latter render this element by replace the <person> element with real HTML element using javascript. (here "replace" means I create new HTML element and remove the element with custom tag). It works fine with Firefox and Chrome and other browsers, however, IE8 does not work (haven't tested other version of IE yet). In IE8, it simply cannot parse the <person> element's structure. I read an article said you have to put customer tag into a user defined namespace, well, after doing that, IE8 was able to parse the <my:person> element structure. However, jQuery selector does not work, now $("my:person") does not return the element. How to make it work for both IE8 and jQuery? I feel bad if my application does not support IE8.
I'm making this ajax call:
Code:
url = "/GeoAdaptaApp/geoLogger/logGuiEvents?json="+aLotOfJSONStuff;
encUrl = encodeURI(url,"UTF-8");
new Ajax.Request(encUrl, {
method: 'get',
onSuccess: this.sendQueueToServerSuccess( this,logConsole ),
[Code]...
The JSON string seems correct (I checked it with a validator) and it worked on an Ajax.updater (but i need a request now). Firefox keeps telling me:
[Code]...
The call always end up in the onFailure block. Full request here: [URL] It's very strange, Is there a better way to pass json objects to the server?
I am building a client-side and server-side solution and want to use JSON through Ajax in both directions. I have ASP or JavaScript server-side, though Microsoft's support of server side JavaScript seems nil, so I am reluctantly conceeding to use ASP. I'd appreciate suggestions on available solutions to encode/decode JSON on the server-side (ASP or JavaScript). I don't plan to load jQuery server-side so that rules out plug-ins. I'd also like to know what is the latest client-side encode/decode for JSON. Is it built in jQuery or a plug-in? In both server and client, decoding JSON securely is key, so using eval () to decode is out.

I am trying to pass some HTML code from an ASP page back into a JQUERY function called addlist but I can't get the syntax right with regards to writing out the html via ASP. if I dont Include html in my response.write then my function addlist works as it should. I am guessing this is in relation to ' or " [code]..
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am new to Ajax and have a bit of a gap in my understanding. I have a status monitor that sets a JS function to run every second with setInterval. When the document loads, I will need to get data from the server asynchronously (I wont know the info before hand) and use that data to set id values to find them as nodes and change them later on.
The problem is as I see it, that the callback function I will use to grab the initial data is coming back via a JSON object. The callback function is done with javascript. So, how can I take the JSON data, or converted to javascript data and set my ID values when the document loads? If I change the values dynamically with the DOM, will those values be reliable enough to use as my other recurring functions find them and set their innerHTML properties?
I have a flash application that out puts the below data:

how i can use it to convert an html table into a json format.
