Onload / Onmouseover - Web Page That Accesses Mysql Database Data Through PHP

Apr 8, 2011

I am writing a web page that accesses Mysql database data through PHP then dynamically displayes the Mysql data when the user mouses over different parts of an imagemap. I use Javascript OnLoad function to load the Mysql data into the header and then I use the Onmouseover function to change the display dynamically.

Here is my question; when I mouse-over a part of an image the data in my side bar changes (exactly what I want) but I can't seem to make the data linkable. For example, when a user mouse-overs a certain part of the image, on the side bar it displays the companies web adr. How do I make that data a link? On the initial load the default data displayed is linkable but because I use <div> </div> to change the data dynamically, I loose the likability.

I'm a newbie to javascript programming and I'm seeking on a solution on how to connect to a tcp port using javascript. Basically, we have phone server that is constantly streaming XML data on port 1024 (serverIP:1024). I've ran a packet sniffer and was able to gather the elements and attributes for the XML data that the server is streaming. Now, I have a test XML parser which works with the XML document using the elements and attributes i've gathered from the packet sniffer. Is there a way for me to connect to the TCP port i've mentioned using javascript and incorporate it with the XML parser that I have. code...

Is it possible to connect to a sqlite database via javascript. And I do not mean the HTML 5 Web SQL Database, that is no problem. What I mean is a file-based SQLite database, which is in the same folder as the HTML page. Also, I can not use something like Google's API, only the javascript libraries I can then put in this folder.

From what I can work out it looks like the person who wrote it is using jquery to determine the browser type. Any ideas why jquery would fail when passed through a reverse proxy?

JQuery :: Ui-sortable And Connect - Pass A "list ID" With The Update?

Aug 3, 2010

I wrote an application using jquery/sortables and ran into a problem that I just don't understand well enough to tackle and hoping a jquery expert can see the solution where I don't.

I have a db setup like so

My page is setup to display multiple 'sortable' lists that allow the user to re-position elements (divs) with the mouse. Each div contains the 'content' (Bananas, Apples, etc) for users to see and they're even editable-in-place which all functions great.

THE PROBLEM: Each list has a class of 'biglist' in which I use the connectWith to allow these elements to be dragged from say myList3 to myList7.

Visually this looks great on the page but there's no DB functionality behind it to "SAVE" the new position. The only save that works is the elements position in its CURRENT list.

All 'content' in the fifth list for example is being generated from a SELECT statement [WHERE boxid = 5].

Each list has a different php file to generate its content that is virtuallyidentical

The order of each element is saved via a simple method in sortable's update function

Sorting is done here:

This is done roughly 10 times because there are ten lists. So here's the big question:

How can I pass the list's number (or create an ID for each list) that'll save WHICH list the items been moved to so that it's saved. (IE how can I change boxid instead of just Order)

Database Connection - Connect To A Database And Execute Some Queries

Oct 31, 2011

I have been searching how to connect to a database and execute some queries, and then use the data that I get to populate some tables in a web page, all this using javascript.

I am confused because I have seen in some webpages that javascript is not designed to connect with databases, and also I have see other pages where they say that it is possible.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use javascript to connect to a database (informix), and execute some procedures or queries?

Manipulating Css Lass And At The Same Time Having A Base Html Statement In My Html File?

Jul 16, 2010

I came across a very odd browser behavior when trying to modify a css class using javascript and at the same time having a base html statement in my html file.Without the base html statement, all browsers work fine and I can change the css class definition using javascript easily. With a base html statement, only FireFox still works while Internet Explorer and Google Chrome dont work anymore. If there is a cross-domain issue, while one browser does work and the others dont? An example of what I'm talking about, with the base statement:

Without the base statement:
http://freebsdcluster.org/~casaschi/tmp/example-nobase.html

how to tweak the code in the case with the base html statement in order for the javascript to work with all browser (modifying the class definition) ?I want to be able to manipulare css classes with javascript when a base html statement is in my html code. This is essentially the code:

<!--

.html() Garbles Div Information - If I Alert() The Div Contents With Html() It Seems To Get A Bit Garbled In The Process?

Dec 28, 2010

It appears that .html() is somehow messing up reading the contents of a div. Here is my php code which loads into the div.

$own_pre_selection .= "<input name='" . mysql_result($result,$i,"did") . "' value='" . mysql_result($result,$i,"did") . "' type='hidden'><span class='addremove' onclick="recordchecks('" . mysql_result($result,$i,"dname") . "','" . mysql_result($result,$i,"did") . "')";><u>Remove</u></span>  " . mysql_result($result,$i,"dname") . "<br>";

Here is what I see as source code after the page renders.

<input name='677' value='677' type='hidden'><span class='addremove' onclick="recordchecks('Heart Neoplasms','677')";><u>Remove</u></span>  Heart Neoplasms<br><input name='1298' value='1298' type='hidden'><span class='addremove' onclick="recordchecks('Heart Septal Defects; Atrial','1298')";><u>Remove</u></span>  Heart Septal Defects; Atrial<br></div>

When I test alert() the .html() contents it appears like this. It seems to screw up the quote escape and changes " to " ;="" after the recordchecks().[code]...

So even though the source code looks perfect, if I alert() the div contents with html() it seems to get a bit garbled in the process.
