function validate_form(){ if(regform.reguser.value == ""){ alert("Please completed the selected box");[code]....
to validate a simple registration form, however I initially tried to streamline this function by cycling through an array using a loop to point to various input elements in the HTML page itself. I found that when trying to use a variable in the aforementioned if statements the javascript failed to work i.e.
var test = "reguser"; if(regform.test.value = ""){ }
I know the javascript is looking for the input element "test" instead of "reguser" but is there any way I can force it to look for the contents of the variable.
I am a novice, almost to an intermediate-level JavaScript guy, so much of this is new to me. I appreciate your patience reading this.
I have a routine that creates some HTML on the fly (updateFilters() function) and after the HTML is created, I attempt to access some fields (elements) on the form itself.
I works fine if I place an alert() statement after the HTML is created, but when I remove, the code errors out.
I have tried the setTimeout() statement, but I cannot grab the element --- undefined or null is returned. It seems that the form is the only element I can get a handle on --- everything else is undefined or null...
Here is the code:
function editQuery() { var f; var x; var myForm = document.forms[0]; // Get the row filters that were used in the last query.. for (f = 1; f < 16; f++) { var filter = eval("myForm.FilterList_" + f); if (filter.selectedIndex > 0) { var methodElement = element("FilterMethod_" + f); var methodIndex = methodElement.selectedIndex; var savedFilterMethodValue = methodElement.options[methodIndex].text; var choicesElement = element("FilterChoices_" + f); var choicesIndex = choicesElement.selectedIndex; if (isNaN(choicesIndex)) { var savedFitlerValues = choicesElement.value; } else { var savedFitlerValues = choicesElement.options[choicesIndex].text; } updateFilters(filter); // update the filters // take the saved methods and values and then update the selections // Alert here makes the code work.. // alert("Try this"); // Wait for HTML.. setTimeout("completeEdit()", 1000); function completeEdit() { // Since the object was updated, get the object again.. var methodElement = element("FilterMethod_" + f); for (x = 0; x < methodElement.options.length; x++) { if (methodElement.options[x].text == savedFilterMethodValue) { methodElement.options[x].selected = true; break; } else { methodElement.options[x].selected = false; } } // Since the object was updated, get the object again.. var choicesElement = element("FilterChoices_" + f); for (x = 0; x < choicesElement.options.length; x++) { if (choicesElement.options[x].text == savedFitlerValues) { choicesElement.options[x].selected = true; break; } else { choicesElement.options[x].selected = false; } } // Only display next row if f = 2.. // If only one row was used, no reason display the next row.. if (f == 2) { displayNextFilter(f - 1); // display it } } clearTimeout(timeOut); } } }
Do I have to pass the object (the form, the elements) to the completeEdit() function in the setTimeout() statement?
This works fine when I place this code under the html in the main source, but if I try to add this Jquery code to an external js sheet it doesnt seem to work?
Currently my js sheet is called in the header, when I move this link to the footer of my page the code works again, so Im guessing this has something to do with where the jquery code is placed in relation to the code Im trying to hide?
How I can keep my js in the header but still make the content disappear on click?
Basically, I have it so that when you click something, then it expands and then shows text. The part I am having trouble at is the text being a php include. Here is the line that works for pre-typed in information:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("toggle");
[Code]....
The above toggle code works perfectly.
How can I edit the code to use buttons instead of text? In other words: How can I replace two different texts that say "Show" and "Hide" with two different buttons that say "Show" and "Hide"?
I can add a onclick="code here" to the tag so that when the drop box alabama is selected it triggers the onclick event. Im using Ibox in order to have a image of the state open.
Code: <a href="images/large/image_1b.jpg" rel="ibox" title="alabama at 1024x450!"><img src="images/small/image_1.jpg" alt=""/></a>
the above is a <a> link tag correct? How do I go bout adding the above code into the onclick event?
I tried to create a function to reduce some in line code. However something is wrong with the function call getGenderChoice() because the code stops working. If I comment out getGenderChoice() and uncomment the lines that would be in the function it works properly. What would possibly be wrong with a function call that seems to follow function rules?
PHP Code:

What I Need:An auto-suggest feature(1) so that when a person types in an address and presses go it automatically brings down a menu to show a list of relevant addresses (for example someone types romford road, it will bring down the different "romford roads" that it can find), upon clicking the desired "romford road" it is then automatically marked on the map.
How will it be used?Im using Google maps(2) with a FROM and TO text boxes, that when valid postcode/road names etc are typed in, it calculates the price based on distance. Adding an autosuggest will speed up the process.
(1) [URL]... This is the page I am currently using, when the customer fills in and presses calculate price, the price is shown along with the route plotted on the map. The calculate price button is then hidden and a "click here to book" is made visble which then passes on the various variables to a booking page.
(2)[URL]... The autosuggest feature on this page is EXACTLY what I need although I have no idea how to merge it with my one
i have two images which are part of a rollover button that i want to have paused until the intro animation finishes. I have the javascript code but the rollover images are specified in the css. I just have the id to them in the html. I was wondering if anyone knew how to include the rollover files with the pausing javascript code. the files are profile.gif and profileover.gif. I tried to add the files to the preload part of the javascript but that didn't work.

I am trying to figure out how to make an online quiz via Javascript, based on just a couple questions (4 to be exact) from a question-bank, and I want only 2 of the questions out of the 4 to appear when the quiz is taken (randomly of course).I found a great template online for what I want my quiz to look like, however, it does NOT have the random add-on functionality I would like.I am not looking for the 'answer' or for someone else to do the workHere is the quiz template I found:
<?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-W3CDTD XHTML 1.0 StrictEN" "http:www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
I need US zip code formatting on my page. As zip code can be 5 digits or 5-4 digits, our requirement is that when user types in 6th digit, hyphen automatically gets added between 5th and 6th digit. Ex: user enters 100161, it should become formatted as 10016-1 and then user can continue to add rest of digits.

I implemented on my custom cms ajax pagination for my content. In that content ofcourse there are some images inside and after adding ajax pagination lightbox pop up effect doesn't work. I suppose that the problem is in javascript method in head block of my page which is following

adding a parenthesis in the area code of the phone number and validating it also. I made some javascript code but it is not working. I just need the code in adding () in the area code.
For example: When user enter 10 digit number no spaces or dashes such as 0000000000 or 000-000-0000, I would like to have this format right away (000)000-0000. I know how to replace the characters but adding it is a tricky one for me.
Someone can help me in accomplish a connection to 2 wms services. I could connect once but I changed something on the code and now I can't get the things work, the connection fails. Here is the link to the viewer:
Im using a JavaScript function to dynamically add rows of user-input data to a form, but Im having problems getting it to work properly with Firefox (works well in IE, though). We are using Struts 1.3 and JSPs, if that makes a difference.
The JavaScript function seems to work initially because the newly added row will show up on the JSP after the user enters their data and clicks a button that uses an onclick event to call the function. However, when I submit the form the new elements dont get included in the request. The result is that when I use the following code in my Struts Action Class to get all the parameter names submitted in the request, I dont receive the new form elements that were added by the JavaScript function and I cant process those newly added records:
Enumeration e = request.getParameterNames();
Here is the JavaScript code for the function that I call to dynamically add rows of data to the form.
function addData(tableId, distBedsCode, empCode, fte) { var tbl = document.getElementById(tableId); //grab how many rows are in the table var lastRow = tbl.rows.length;
[Code].....
Ive tried using hiddenElem.setAttribute(name,) at the end of the above code, instead of something like hiddenElem.name = , but that didnt work. There is just some difference between the way Firefox handles things and the way IE handles them
