JQuery :: Testing For Error Condition In Returned JSON Formatted Data
Dec 14, 2010I'm pretty new to jQuery and I'm using $.getJSON to submit some data to a PHP script which either returns 5 sets of json-formatted data or data to indicate an error condition (i.e., no data available) from the PHP database query. The callback routine handles the 5 sets of json-formatted data just fine (using $.each...) but I'm having trouble testing for either just a string with 'null' in it or a json-formatted data return of [{"error":"null"}].
My callback code for the second approach looks like this:

if (data.error == "null") .....
But this test does not execute the following code for the 'true' condition, i.e., data.error == "null" never evaluates to 'true'.
Code Failed To Work After Adding A 2nd Condition

Save The Output Xml File, Get Error Permission Denied , Error Code 0?
Jul 18, 2009I am developing a web page . For this i am using Javascript embedded in html. In the application ,the user can input data via interfaces in the page which is chosen and read from a master xml file , the chosen data then needs to be stored and saved in a xml file.I have designed the web page in FrontPage.
Now the problem i face is while trying to save the output xml file i get error Permission Denied , error code 0 . This happens when i try to open the page in browser IE 6.0 SP2.I am using DOM parser methods for doing the xml manipulations/savings etc.urprisingly this works in another machine.Also can i use the all of the same javascript code if i want to run it in an IIS. Do i have to do some changes to make it server side javascript code.

I want to reload the page if session is timed out so I am checking the user session at PHP file and if session is timeout I am sending error code. if I get the error code in response I will reload the page so that it will load login page.

Code Working But Giving Error In IE

This is a part of the larger .js code. It fixes .PNG images problem specific to IE6. Everything works fine in Firefox, Opera, IE6 and Chrome. The problem appears only in IE7 and IE8. JavaScript stops executing somewhere after the second line, and the browser reports an error in .js file on that line.

Jan 5, 2012I am using jquery.validate.js for validating the forms.
The issue now is I have a dropdown list with values. Say a dropdown has the values 'One', 'two', 'Three', 'Four','Five'.
If the value is 'Three' OR 'Four' . The next 2 input fields are required. Else those are not required. The value will be seperated with optgroups.
I tried with different options but I couldnt find the solution. How to validate this?[code]...

Reset Focus After Validation Code Finds An Error
Apr 24, 2009I would appreciate any help I can get about setting focus back to a textbox after my javascript validates that the input by a user into the textbox is incorrect. You can see my attempt at this towards the end of the javascript with - dateStr.Edate.focus(); I know the dateStr part is incorrect but not sure what other variable to use. Plus I am guessing I need to put the statement right before each false statement since there are different errors that can occur by the user. Additionally, I have two textboxes that I want the same javascript to validate. How does this affect setting focus to the appropriate textbox after an incorrect input. I am new to javascript so I hope my question makes sense. Thanks.

Error Msg In Code-Class - Interface Or Enum Expected

JQuery :: Binding Condition To Trigger Function?
Jan 12, 2011I'm having trouble with multiple ajax_functions during init phase of code. Pseudo:
ajax_init_global_data();
ajax_init_stuff_1();
ajax_init_stuff_2();
startMainCode();
problem is that these functions seem to pass so fast that ajax queries aren't ready when code passes to startMainCode(). One way I could prevent this is by making ajax_init_global_data() "success" call ajax_init_stuff_1(), and same with stuff_1 -> stuff_2, and finally stuff_2 -> startMainCode().
Still, I was thinking is there a way to write condition in way that when ajax_inits go "success", I could put variables "phase_1_ready = true", "phase_2_ready = true" and "phase_3_ready = true", and finally write something like: if $document.bind(phase_1_ready == true && phase_2_ready == true && phase_3_ready) { startMainCode());
So basically I'm wondering if there is way to bind condition to trigger function, without writing somekind of setTimeout -loop to do the check?

Apr 9, 2010I've started working with the jQuery UI 1.8 Autcomplete recently with remote data. I was pleased with the ease of initial implementation, but before long I ran into a classic race condition.As I type, the search query gets more specific, so it takes less time for the server respond. As a consequence, it is possible for the old response to arrive after the most recent one. Obviously, this is producing undesirable effects.I'm a little frustrated that the plugin doesn't have a way to manage this. To me, it seems that it makes the "basic" remote data implementation unreliable in most real-world situations. It also seems as though this would be a common problem, but I've found very little literature on it.
I've found that autocomplete is a relatively new addtion to jQuery UI, so I've put the frustration aside and started my own widget which extends autocomplete to solve for three things: 1) race conditions; 2) animated open/close; 3) caching.The nature of this post is two-fold. Not only to share information I've gathered on the topic of race conditions with others who might be having the same trouble, but to (hopefully) gain some insight to how other people are solving for this.The first piece of this puzzle was that $.ajax() (and related methods) return an XMLHTTPRequest instance. As described at stackoverflow.com, this grants us the ability to use XMLHTTPRequest.abort() method. So I just keep a handle to the XMLHTTPRequest instance, and if it exists, call abort() before the next request is made.Using a firebug, I could see that the requests were being aborted as expected and the symptoms of the race-condition ceased. So far, so good... then I got to IE. Not so much.In IE, I was seeing run-time errors. The odd thing is that the run-time errors seemed to be coming from deep within jQuery UI, rather than my code yet commenting out the abort() avoided the run-times. After scratching my head for a while, I used the following simplified code to shed some light on the situation:[code]
In Firefox and Chrome, behavior is as expected - no alert box. However, in IE6 and IE8 (IE7 untested at this time), the success handler still fires! As it turns out, the run-time errors were because the response was undefined as it got passed through my success code path. My next thought was, "maybe I can just evaluate textStatus". Unfortunately, it turns out (as seen in the alert box) it contains the string "success".
